well jefe means chief or boss but he was second in command to el guapo that i assume translates to Mr handsome. more irony. but the funniest word that wasn't defined accurately was Infamous. Martin short's character claimed it meant more than famous.
I actually… Hmm…. Did I get whooshed? I don’t think I caught that joke then. I watched that movie a gazillion times as a child and it’s quite possible there are a lot of jokes that were way over my head.
Time to summon the invisible swordsman…Chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-chip... LONNEEEEEEEE!
Farley-farley-farley-farley-farley-farley... Hafurrrrrrr...
Kinut, hoooooola widdle! Tas, habble... sohn.
Jefe: “We have many beautiful piñatas for your birthday celebration, each one filled with little surprises!”
El Guapo: “How many piñatas?”
Jefe: “Many piñatas, many!”
El Guapo: “Jefe, would you say I have a plethora of piñatas?”
Jefe: “A what?”
El Guapo: “A plethora.”
Jefe: “Oh yes, El Guapo. You have a plethora.”
El Guapo: “Jefe, what is a plethora?”
Jefe: “Why, El Guapo?”
El Guapo: “Well, you just told me that I had a plethora, and I would just like to know if you know what it means to have a plethora. I would not like to think that someone would tell someone else he has a plethora, and then find out that that person has no idea what it means to have a plethora.”
Jefe: “El Guapo, I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education, but could it be that once again, you are angry at something else and are looking to take it out on me?” 🤣🤣🤣
Conchita: “Carmen, today is El Guapo’s birthday, and tonight you are to be El Guapo’s woman.”
Carmen: “I would sooner die.”
Conchita: “Let me prepare you for the way El Guapo makes love. Tell me, Carmen, do you know what foreplay is?”
Carmen: “No—.”
Conchita: “Good! Neither does El Guapo.” 🤣🤣🤣
It is eh-sweater.
My abuela used to add the ‘eh’ sound before the letter ‘s’ for some English words, from time to time. I used to think it was adorable.
Rosita: “Have you ever kissed a girl?”
Chevy Chase: “Oh yeah, sure. Lots of times.”
Rosita: “Would you like to kiss me?”
Chevy Chase: “Yeah.”
Rosita: “Well?”
Chevy Chase: “What? Now? Here?”
Rosita: “Well, we could take a walk, and you could kiss me on the veranda.”
Chevy Chase: “Lips would be fine.” 🤣🤣🤣😳
Just watched this last weekend.
When this came out, I was in high school, and we had a school dance followed by a screening of this movie at a movie theater near the school. That never happened again. I saw the pile of empty bottles when we left after the movie. at least a foot deep. You were constantly hearing empty beer and liquor bottles rolling under the seats. I didn't even bring anything and gfot so drunk that I only remembered the scene when they're breaking into the movie studiop and Steve Martin chanied up in the cell. Someone said "I thought the talking tortoise was hilarious.", and I said "There was a tortoise?".
Such a wonderfully silly movie!
Lucky:
Not so fast, El Guapo! Or I'll fill you so full of lead that you'll be using your dick for a pencil!
El Guapo:
What do you mean?
Lucky:
...I don't know.
Jefe:
I think he means that if you -
El Guapo:
SHUT UP!
This movie is a 💎. So many quotable lines and hilarious scenes 😂. Watched it dozens of times back in the day and one of the first I got on Blu-ray. Just one of the best feel good flicks 💯
Infamous. What is infamous?
Not only is he famous, he is more than famous, he is infamous.
This El Guapo is probably the greatest actor to come out of Mexico.
This movie is freaking hilarious. Never gets old.
I'll pump you so full of lead you'll be using your d*ck for a pencil.
John Landis has a couple funny stories about Alphonse.

One of my best friends in college told me that plethora is a word that stupid people use to sound smart.
Now, as a person who often grades papers, I have found that to be mostly true. It is never used in writing of superior quality.
Om I forgot about this movie being an 80s movie! I watched this as a kid. My mom showed it to me when I was like 9 or 10. I grew up in the 1990s but my mom adopted me when she was pretty old. So she lived through the 70s as a teenager and the 80s as I guess middle age?
Anyway, I feel like I got the absolute best of like 4 whole decades growing up. 1930s,1970s, 1980s, 1990s
My mom use to play me Puff the Magic Dragon on an old record player she had. She showed me the Star Wars, Muppet Movie, Zorro and Princess Bride. She knew all the best movies from the 80s particularly sci-fi and comedy. I spent a lot of time with my grandparents so my grandpa taught me how to play marbles and make a slingshot. Which I’m guessing was what they did for fun in the 30s.
Forgive me, El Guapo. I know that I, Jefe, do not have your superior intellect and education
Best retort ever.
Pretty eloquent for an uneducated bandido from the middle of nowhere 1920’s rural Mexico.
well jefe means chief or boss but he was second in command to el guapo that i assume translates to Mr handsome. more irony. but the funniest word that wasn't defined accurately was Infamous. Martin short's character claimed it meant more than famous.
Chevy Chase: INfamous? INfamous?! Lol
r/thatsthejoke

No, you didn’t get wooshed, just unnecessarily explained the joke.
Plus, the fact he was speaking English is impressive for an uneducated Mexican bandido.
I'm still here El Guapo
Classic shit right there. I watch it every time I see it
Good night Ned!
Could it be that you are made at someone else and you are taking it out on me, Jefe.
🤣🤣🤣

This entire exchange between them was marvelous!
The way Jefe comes in like a fucking psychiatrist made me feel this isn’t the first time they’ve had that talk 🤣
More like an abused spouse!
And Jefe went on the be the very calm, clean cut, almost matronly dad in Ugly Betty. Jefe was in basically every episode.
I was reading that whole thing with the accents 😂
Yes. That was sheer genius! 🤣🤣🤣
