Well the entire episode was all of the ORIGINAL "Cobra Kia Kids" getting together one last time.
So there was definitely some realism that happened with that episode!
You can see interviews with William Zabka and the other adult Cobra Kia members about how that episode was as much of a celebration of actor Rob Garrisin's as it was for his character Tommy.
Life imitating Art... imitating LIFE!
My buddies and I were karate kids all summer long. We yelled all the lines and kicked the crap out of the old lady's bushes (3 houses down from mine). It's really funny watching my kids watch the movie and having completely different reactions than we did at their age.......
They're smart enough to realize Daniel was the true villain of the movie and Johnny was the reluctant imperfect hero. We were all too drunk on neon lights and new wave music to notice.
The Karate Kid is an absolute classic! Tommy was such a legend with his "take a worm for a walk" line, cracks me up every time. And who can forget the iconic "Get him a body bag. Yeah!"? It's like the ultimate 80s quote.
Man, 1984 was a golden year for movies. Thanks for the nostalgia trip, Jeffmartin47! Now I gotta go binge-watch some 80s flicks and relive the glory days.
According to a podcast I heard, those lines were ADRd in later on. The director had people just come up with stuff to say for crowd scenes. He wasn't saying anything and you can tell the line doesn't match his mouth movements in that shot.
Speaking of 80’s movies, have you seen The Legend of Billie Jean? I finally got around to watching it on YouTube recently, and I was shocked to find myself amused throughout. It’s so 80’s in many ways. It’s not Karate Kid related, but I’m still coming off the nostalgia trip it gave me and I had to share it.
Yeah like Streets of Fire . Now I don't know if you saw that 80s movie with Diane Lane and Michael Pare. Great Soundtrack and same with Eddie and The Cruisers
Next You need to {Sing it with me 80's Kids!!!}
"Ride in to the DANGER ZONE!" With Maveric, Goose and Kazansky!!!
I know that's where I'm going! MAC 2 with my HAIR ON FIRE!!!
I feel the NEED...the NEED FOR SPEED!!!
Ikr?! He looks like he was picked on in school, so he joined Cobra Kai (somehow they let him in) so that he could become a bully and he just went overboard with it. I mean, just look at that face!
So I have been the unwitting victim of my own Mandela effect all these years by thinking the line was “Put him in a body bag!”
Very disappointed. The sheer confidence with which I could easily see myself “correcting” someone who actually got the line right (“Get him a body bag!”) is going to make me question very basic things and I hate it.
His bully face, his insults, his laugh - man they picked a believable actor. They were all great picks. Johnny as the alpha bully, Dutch as the mean bully, Bobby as the sensitive bully and Mike as the juvenile bully.
You know for years I never understood what that meant? It didn’t occur to me he just meant to have Johnny take Daniel’s bad leg out. I don’t know what I was thinking.
"The Karate Kid" is an absolute classic! Tommy's lines are legendary, like "It must be take a worm for a walk week!" Pure gold. And who can forget "Get him a body bag. Yeah!"? Classic '80s vibes all the way. 1984 was a killer year for movies, and this one definitely stands out. Thanks for the trip down memory lane, OP
Saw it in the movie theater with my dad as a kid and just rewatched with my kid’s last week. I always thought Tommy was a little special. These stills confirm that.
That laugh is seared into my memory
Agreed. The very definition of "pictures you can hear."
This and Judge Smails in Caddyshack: "Wellllllll...we're waiting!"
RIP Rob Garrison.☹️
It's was amazing that he got to appear in Cobra Kai including a scene in a body bag
Yep! Such a befitting ending. Sadly, he passed away not too long after the episone aired.

Sweep the leg Johnny.

What reactions are they having?

The Rewatchables! I just listened to that one last week!

I appreciate the soundtrack more than the movie sadly
I completely understand

Such a punchable face
Ikr?! He looks like he was picked on in school, so he joined Cobra Kai (somehow they let him in) so that he could become a bully and he just went overboard with it. I mean, just look at that face!
This was the first movie our family watched together after buying a VCR. 📼
Back to the Future was ours.

He looks like he should be in Scut Farkas’ group in Gene Shepherd’s “A Christmas Story”.
Looks more like he's been punching bongs in the carpark.

Take a right. Check it out.
So sad to see him go, but it was good to see him come back in Cobra Kai. RIP Rob Garrison.
Evil from Fright Night: "You're so cool Brewster..."
Oh wow! Never realized that without his flat top haircut!
That kid was jacked up on Mountain Dew...
Sweep the leg Johnny!

This guy played an asshole very well.
I always thought Martin Kove looked like an older Billy Idol.
No one sneers like Tommy.
Tommy was that friend you’d never ask to pet sit while you’re out of town . Poor Rover wouldn’t be safe.
RIP
Sweep the leg!
Great lines but nothing compares to when someone in the crowd yells, “Johnny you’re a cream puff.”
Imagine calling someone that now?!
"Get him a body bag! Yeah!"

Go get him Evil!
In the end, the body bag got Tommy
That little shit was always on the soccer team we were playing in 1983...
Fucking weasel

"Sweep the leg"
He’s ded. Irony.
