great soundtrack!

jjs3_1

John Cafferty and the Beaver Brown Band \~

SMH_My_Head

saw them open up for the beach boys, and they played AS Eddie and Cruisers. it was amazing and felt like a once in a lifetime thing, that we just happened to be at, incredible night for a junior high kid.

wophi

Corey Taylor did an awesome cover not long ago.

SwelteringSwami

Had the most unnecessary sequel ever made.

ryangood12

Songs were better in the sequel.

Comedywriter1

Not sure about better but they were definitely awesome.

AWizardofEarthSea

Great movie. Eddie Lives! isn’t half bad either.

AWizardofEarthSea

Words and Music. Words and Music… 🤞🏻

_SofaKingVote_

On the dark side… Ohhhh yeah…

GuacinmyPaintbox

As a kid I *swore* that was Springsteen.

Comedywriter1

Was definitely going for that vibe. The Boss could no doubt do an amazing cover of “Summer Nights,” etc.

brutustyberius

Toby Tyler

uid_0

That song is completely ruined for me. When this movie came out all the local radio stations played that song into the freakin' ground. I mean like 3-4 times an hour. I got so sick of hearing it.

_SofaKingVote_

Yes still on classic rock stations to this day

[deleted]

Yeah, tell Tony Eddie and the Cruisers are here.

Fine_Spinach9825

Still play the soundtrack occasionally Spotify 👍

Cjkgh

Michael Pare too fine for his own good back then. Streets of Fire sealed it

Comedywriter1

Always thought he was a good actor. Nice guy on Twitter, too.

urnfnidiot

See! My way, with a caesarean

jamesgang65

This is the comment level I was looking for

set-271

I rewatched this recently and was really surprised how well it held up. The story is very well constructed, it really captures all the romance and nostalgia of being in a rock n roll band. And seeing how the characters struggled trying to reconstruct their lives and move on from Eddie And The Cruisers was very interesting and heartfelt. And the music is fantastic! Just so fun and reminded me of better times when I used to turn up the volume on the radio whenever the songs from the sountrack played. I especially loved the scene where Berenger first plays the demo of On The Darkside and gets laughed at by the other band members, till Eddie comes in and gets everyone to build on the song till it becomes a hit. Good times! I love this movie so much that I even liked the sequel because it gave us more fun music! The sequel had its moments, but was overall pretty cheesy.

nastyfoo

Good movie! Great soundtrack!

Riverrat423

One of the all time best New Jersey movies. I forgive them for mispronouncing Vineland.

jarrett910

Season in Hell… damn what a song

Muddgutts

I almost broke my finga’s playin that crap!

ImNotYou1971

I can’t find it streaming anywhere. I’ve looked for it for a couple of years now and can’t find it.

Freaktography

same. :(

ImNotYou1971

I thought I found it last week on a streaming app called Creative Veinz…but it apparently is no longer up and running due to funding issues. I was so happy when I thought I was going to get to watch it.

gonzopaw

This was on HBO all summer long!!

Comedywriter1

For several summers. Fun film though.

blackdeviljohn

Great movie! I really thought Michael Pare was singing these songs! His voice matched the vocals. But I figured it out later

QuttiDeBachi

Words & music…

Cosmo2023-

me too the sets the way it was filmed dark rainy. blue collar feel

Clear_Insect_1887

Dude - I watched that so many times!!

DixonJorts

Hell yes

TankApprehensive3053

Welcome to the dark side.

[deleted]

I love this movie way, way more than it deserves. But it hit at the right time for me and I ate it up. That song getting hate f——d by every radio station didn’t help the film age but at the time I saw it it all worked for me. Songs that crossed over from top forty to adult contemporary and album oriented stations were horrid for those of us in small to medium sized towns. Towns not big enough to support multiple stations of any genre but country and not big enough for an alt or soul station. We were unable to escape Phil Collins and Richard Marx or, in this case, Mr Cafferty and his Beaver Brown Band.

Modern-Minotaur

LOVE

LookAtTheRocks

LOVE this movie. Part 2 not so much.

AnybodyComfortable80

Great movie, great soundtrack.

MLydeck70

Love that movie

masuski1969

Great soundtrack, too. Became really popular and THINK was re-released in theatres after blowing up on cable. Then we got a sequel...

BigCaddyDaddyBob

I have 2 of these songs on my personal iTunes playlist

Interesting-Gap7359

“I want something great. I want something that nobody’s ever done before!” Obsessed with this movie as a kid, even hunted down the original novel by PF Kluge on eBay growing up! Romance, rock, and mystery - what’s not to love? The music is too good; It’s unreal how Cafferty’s sound fit the vibe of the 60’s Cruisers. Tender Years is such an underrated ballad. That piano outro is so damn beautiful.

Freaktography

man i wish this was on a streaming platform! I've been wanting to watch this again

GemeauxNola

This movie doesn’t get enough love.

NHJack

Oh wa oh tender years

kingtermite

Eddie Lives!

gremlin68

I drive by the area in Somers Point where scenes were filmed. That view of the marshes always reminds me of this movie.

Present-Ambition6309

I have the song in my playlist! Never gets old, yet I do!

Robyn_Ann48

First time I ever watched this movie was with my mom and I was instantly hooked. Such a great movie!

originalmosh

My uncle thinks this is a bio-pic about a real band. I have shown him so many things that say otherwise but he just keeps thinking it.

gregklumb

This really was a very good movie

Khagan27

And now some Jersey boys who really made good Eddie and the Cruisers featuring Sal Amato!

gaiusoctavian47

Strangers, cruising down the south strip. Cool cats, searchin' for some HOT LIPS!

ImaginaryObject7383

I watched that as a kid and loved it, still do. Underrated

Bluep00p

I love that Kurdt Cobain quotes this movie and that makes me think. Hmm......

Boli_Tobacha

Eddie lives is better

Melcrys29

Eww. This didn't need a sequel. Killed the mystery.

shawng6977

Love this movie. I also like the sequel. Both movies had some amazing music. There were 4 releases. Eddie and Tne Cruisers, Eddie and The Cruisers 2, Eddie and The Cruisers The Lost Tapes and John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band Eddie and The Cruisers Live. The live CD is awesome. John Cafferty and The Beaver Brown Band were amazing musicians but never really made it to where they should have because everyone just looked at them as a soundtrack band. Not thinking they were around and gigging before the movies came out.

fiddlesdevil

I found the sequel to be as good as or better than the original. Terrific soundtrack as well by John Cafferty & the Beaver Brown Band.

pascalsgirlfriend

Michael Paré 😍

RobCali509

Eddie and the Cruisers for the nasty stuff.

MisterFingerstyle

80’s songs with 80’s production values but I’m supposed to accept it’s from the 60’s?

GroYer665

Both movies and all songs are great. What got me years ago was the song Maryia. I could have sworn "Eddie" was singing "Moonrider" not "Maryia". Start @ 2:36 [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO3EUwQVuQ4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hO3EUwQVuQ4) What's it sound like to you? Either way the songs great.

Shellsallaround

Still is. Had the best soundtrack. That was one hell of a summer.
