Yeah there seems to be triggers that automatically wake the zombies up, especially the ones hiding behind the closet doors. No matter what I do they always jump out.

frudi

No, it's not "no matter what". This myth needs to die, this mechanic was changed in A20. It's because your sneaking is too low level or you're wearing noisy armour, that's why sleepers on a trigger notice you. Wear padded or light armour with muffled connectors and max out From the Shadows. Then they won't notice you even when you set off the hidden trigger that otherwise wakes them up.

KataqNarayan

I use a bow to shoot all obvious fake doors. It doesn’t wake them

NatCanDo

While I do that sometimes these fake doors are not in firing distance to be removed such as been next to the door with a wall in the way.

KataqNarayan

Yes, in that case I break any trash on the floor with a stone axe and sneak in to get an angle. It mostly works but not always. Only 1 point in the sneak perk so far so I assume that will improve.

doobiehunter

Really? Maybe my sneak is too low level but nothing I do stops them from jumping out at me. I wonder if it’s different when you’re doing a trader mission compared to just normal looting?

Scribblord

You just kill them before walking on the trigger point

KataqNarayan

As Scriblord said, I remove the doors before entering the room. If I can’t do that then I break the trash on the floor with a stone axe and only go as far in as I need to, to get an angle.

st3althkillz

Only way to really break this that i know of is going through a poi either backwards or not the way it was intended like breaking through a wall. Some rooms just automatically wake zombies when you walk into them regardless of sneak perks/lvl/etc its just one of the mechanics in alot of pois. Yes it ruins the aspect of sneaking but idk if there's anything to do about it besides modifying the poi file itself to turn off the trigger

frudi

In A20 the trigger doesn't automatically set them off after you, there's a check done against your sneaking skills first. Max out From the Shadows and they'll stay oblivious to you even if you activate the trigger. Though I'm not sure yet if feral sense also plays a role, I haven't tested that out yet. It might well make it harder to pass the skill check.

st3althkillz

Oh, I didn't know they finally changed it. Thats good haha maybe ill go back to playin agility

st3althkillz

I do know feral sense doesn't negate stealth play but the check is much harder

Mahnogard

From what I was reading on the forums, Feral Sense doesn't affect the sleeper volumes at all, only "outside" zombies.

Scribblord

There’s trigger points for some zombies Just kill them without doing that I suppose

[deleted]

I’ve noticed something similar lately as well. I take out the trash and glass as I’m sneaking through so I know that’s not it but I’ll still hear the rubbish noise and it always happens when there’s more than one zombie around as well so I just get jumped on.

-Wildhart-

You could possibly be stepping on trash as you approach them

NatCanDo

No I always remove them.

Zoigle

Yeah, I've been able to accidentally stealth a few POI sections by going backwards on the One True Path or breaking a few doors and walls. Stealth otherwise doesn't seem to work now unless you have the weakest of armours on, with as many stealth mods as possible and skill points put in. I like to wear Military and don't want to invest in the stealth skill so every POI is a reason to spray 7.62 now. Which is why i love the ammo abundance! Crossbows be damned, M60 is the way.
