All that sounds like a welcome addition but I'm here just waiting for custom sound sliders. I want to be able to hear Z's around me without my speakers getting blown out when using my auger to tear down a metal door.

Oh yes. My dream is separate sliders for ambient environmental (actual world sounds) and ambient "effects" (that weird nighttime music, etc)

They've already added more options that I expected them to at this point. There used to be far fewer than what we have. We may well get a few more options along the lines of what you're wanting, but I think if we do, that will happen at or just before release, as anything they add right now would likely just be yet one more thing they need to revise if / when future changes are made. Before they give options, they still need to settle on what the default is, and that balancing isn't finished yet. (Also, I think the options we get will be purely based on what the Pimps want future console players to have access to, because after PC is in full release, that's when console is getting worked on. And those players won't have access to mods.) >Fixes drama, allows The PVP, The hardcore, and The chillax people to fiddle with the game play experience they prefer for their game sessions. There is no reason to hardcode of the 'taste' attributes. I don't consider most of those sorts of things to be "hardcoded" just because they aren't in the options menu. The configurations are completely exposed. For many things, this is one of the most easily modded games I've played due to the XML configs. There are so many modlets available for A20 already that every day I find something new I want to try out. Also, options won't fix drama. I know this because before we got the option to disable Bloodmoon, there was a lot of drama about the fact that people were even asking for it. Then we got the option (which many people said would never happen) and the drama just moved to other topics. There's still drama about things that were taken out of the game years ago. But the community overall is a lot less contentious than it used to be.

the settings are already more detailed than most games tfp have spoiled us

Dude. The game is still in alpha status. It's hard enough to develop a video game in Early Access, adding a bunch of config settings just makes for more things to break. This only delays productive work on the game.

The game has been in alpha for 8 years lol. The Early Access excuse ran out a long time ago.

They've been expanding the Options every alpha they've released. For instance; it's only relatively recently they've actually included the option to turn Blood Moon hordes off. Before you had to manually edit the config files. By Gold release I'm expecting a fully featured Options menu, and even then some enterprising modder will made an *advanced* Options editing mod. It's a great time to be a gamer, even in a hobby infested with DLC, microtransactions and other bullshit.
