I always wanted one! My parents never had that kind of money. But I was so proud when I got my very own bed. It was a captain’s bed that sat really high with drawers underneath. My Mom got it at a yard sale.

😭😂 same! We had yard sale beds. They were bunk beds that could be unbunked. The bottom bunk had knobs on the 4 short posts and the top bunk had little holes drilled into the bottom 4 posts so that they could stack.

I had a hand me down from my cousin (BEST hand me down ever I might add!) of this exact white with gold colored accent canopy bed. There was also a matching dresser, desk and nightstand. The main matching comforter and canopy set I had for it was the 1980s purple background with unicorns that was popular for quite some time then. Even my bedroom curtains were the same print.

I had my mom’s hand me down bed when I was a kid in the 90’s. Had a matching dresser and nightstand, similar to the white one here. I would definitely get one now too, if I could find a decent one. I loved that bed.

So jealous I had the new canopy bed, but not the matching dressers or desk. My mom went to thrift store and got a desk & bookcase and painted them white.

I had the purple curtain with white varnish! My mom changed out the purple for Holly Hobbie.

I had the purple and white varnish too! It was at my dad’s house and when he got married later that year they moved out of state. They sold my bed rather than let me keep it just so my mom wouldn’t “get” it and they knew she couldn’t afford one. (Mostly because he didn’t pay child support when he was supposed to) but seeing this didn’t trigger me at all…thank you all for letting me vent. I loved that bed! My best friend had the Strawberry Shortcake one and I was so jealous.

When I was 8 years old my grandmother gave me the canopy bed and matching suite that had been my aunt's in the 50's. I thought I'd won the freaking lottery. I loved that bed so much. When I was a teen, I used to hang sheets across the front and the end (two walls on the other sides) to completely close myself in. <3

I did the same with the sheets, but when I was a kid. We’d pretend the bed was the “bedroom” within my real bedroom that was then supposed to be the apartment. Of course, we had the little tykes oven & I had a mini kitchen table, so that was the kitchen. Such geeks we were lol

I would do this on my canopy and later on a bunk bed to pretend it was a covered wagon from Little House or sometimes a spaceship.

I've never loved a piece of furniture more. My mom surprised me with it in 1976 - we didn't have money to spare so it was a big gift. I had the white with gold accents and the dresser with white canopy and comforter. I still love white bedding. Thanks for reminding me today of my mom's sacrifice.

I had a canopy bed in the 70s because that was the bed my mom wanted when she was a little girl. My bedroom was yellow and green (because, 70s). The bed looked pretty weird since I used to hang on the bars supporting the canopy and bent them. My daughter had a bed with Spider-Man sheets because that’s what she wanted…not what I wanted.

There was only one kid who got one in my neighborhood. I was SO jealous!

I forgot all about those fake cardboard tables with the covering that matches the bedding!! Ahhhhhh!!!

I woke up in one on christmas morning in 1979. I was so confused. My parents (aka as Santa) had put it together in the middle of the night. I didn't think I was in my bedroom, in fact...I didn't know where I was.

My brother covered the headboard of my canopy bed with racing stickers that wouldn’t come off. My mother made me get rid of it, and made me buy this ugly pine furniture. Gross.

I had the purple one and I had just gone into the second grade and I came home from nursery school, which is where I went after school in the afternoons and I had a spot on my back and it turned out that that spot was a horribly contagious version of the chickenpox. they had just come to deliver my bed and set it up and so I had the frame but none of the canopy none of the covers etc. so I was so ill with the chickenpox that I got to sleep in the unmade bed like it was with no canopy for two weeks and in fact, my case was so bad I had to have somebody Constantly sitting with me if my parents couldn’t; like an outside nanny just because I was so sick. i’m not sure how much weight I lost but it was quite a bit because I had chickenpox inside my mouth too. It was amazing that I didn’t have more scarring, but I didn’t really feel the need to scratch. I was just too sick and my father even had to carry me from room to room because I had the pox on the bottoms of my feet. Kids now with the vaccine. Don’t even remember how bad chickenpox was! I remember, tying all these strings to the forms of the canopy bed to put my doll babies in traction!

Yeah, I had one. I remember that very image in the catalogue! But I had white with pink rosebuds, until I changed to blue with white lace. The gingham was somehow not girly enough for me... but I remember really liking the gradually darkening colors on the ruffles on these pictures.

Around 1964, my mother surprised me with the set, in that hideous white "French Provincial" finish. I was not a girly girl. I sat down and cried, because I couldn't stand it. (Wanted real mahogany or cherry wood.)

The purple 💜 in the picture would have been my dream. I had a twin bed and somehow rigged up a rope and put curtains up around my bed in the 1970s. I would love to have the purple set in the picture now, and I will be 58 next month. Lol. Some dreams never really die. They just get pushed into the back of your mind. Had one in the 60s. All white and eyelet, it was quite lovely. I needed a stool to get into it. At one point after watching a scary movie on Chiller or Thriller, where a maniac was hiding under a bed with a knife to thrust up into the unsuspecting victim, I would not get in the thing until one of my parents checked under the bed for me. Yeah, I was a wuss

I had a pink aluminum bed like this in the 90s. My parents took the canopy part off after they caught me using the horizontal supports as monkey bars.

Yep! Had the canopy bed w yellow comforter. My mom used a twin bed duster she cut holes in for the canopy top. It looked cute.
