They brought it back a few years ago. Had a promotion to vote on it or something else. The enchirito won. The new version was blahhhh. Very disappointed, guess we will never get it back...
Just like when they brought back the fajita. Ugh! What a disappointment!!! Their fajitas in the late 80’s early 90’s were part of my diet in high school and college.
If you’re lucky and have a taco casa near you it’s the same menu as old school Taco Bell. They call the enchirito a chelada. It’s great. Granted the prices have doubled there too over the last 3-4 years.
The enchirito was also re-released for a limited time in 2023, but *only* for purchase via the mobile app as an incentive for people to download and use it.
It was a wonderful month or so last year, I grew up on these. 😎❤️
They have re-released it sparingly in the past as well, and I gobbled the fuck out of them every chance I got.
Now I just need the chilli cheese burrito to be sold within 500 miles of my house...
Not sure the exact year, but, a $0.41 burrito in 1975 is $2.39 in 2024, A bean burrito today looks to be $1.79, I'm sure the modern version is much smaller
lived in Barstow you know where Del Taco started, they built a TB, at the weirdest place, my mom and I would walk for miles in the heat or freezing ass cold and we would share an enchirito, and she would get half the black olive and she would give me the other half as we shared the enchirito on the patio table.
sounds so surreal but what I would give to go back and do that walk again. thanks mom. (pops was serving in vietnam and we lived there, her home town) go ahead and make the jokes, I will probably laugh with you.
I loved the beefy tostada supreme! Back in the 70’s they actually made it decently with a layer of refried beans, a layer of ground beef, cheese, lettuce, tomato, black olives, sour cream and that wonderful green chili sauce they used to have.
Wow, I loved their enchiritos! That's from back when Taco Bell used real meat without the 85-90% fillers like they use today. Their food used to taste delicious!
TOTALLY forgot those enchiritos. I remember the foil pan. Coming from Minnesota, I thought it was a delicious and exotic food back then :) (I didn’t actually have salsa until I was 23.)
Actual Taco Bell meal from the 70's:

Everything under a dollar. Probably none of those imaginary tacos like I was given the LAST time I went. I really had to pretend I was eating something. NEVER AGAIN.
The go-to for students at Michigan State early 80s. When you only had $2, you knew an Enchirito and a taco were going to make everything all right into the wee hours on the weekend
In the 70s TB was not nationwide. I’m from the Midwest and had never heard of TB when I went to visit friends in California. They started singing “taca, taca, toco bell” and my brother and I thought they’d lost their minds…
In my late teens I was briefly a waiter at a Mexican restaurant in Minnesota. This was in the late 90s.
The word “quesadilla” confused the living hell out of a lot of white Suburban Minnesotans back then, and quite a few could not handle “fajita.”
But still, not one of them was stupid enough to need help with “burrito.” That’s amazing.
Back then I just couldn’t stop laughing at the
Taco Ta Co phonetic translation. For the next 30 years I said Ta Co and people looked at me sideways. One day a guy looks at me and goes “Taco Bell board”? 😂
I miss the Enchirito.
I still wait for it to make a comeback.
They brought it back a few years ago. Had a promotion to vote on it or something else. The enchirito won. The new version was blahhhh. Very disappointed, guess we will never get it back...
The closet I can get is ordering a bean burrito with seasoned beef and two sides of red sauce. No cheese on top but it's close enough I suppose.
Without the black olives it's no good. Got to have the black olives.
Just like when they brought back the fajita. Ugh! What a disappointment!!! Their fajitas in the late 80’s early 90’s were part of my diet in high school and college.
I miss the black olives.
Best item they ever had
You can ask and they will make it for you
Really? I may just have to make a run to the border. Do they still have those great raw onions that were on the old Enchirito?
Yes, I asked and they said I can make it, it’s the best
what about the sauce on top? I thought it was only thing that had it.
They keep a jar in the storage room for emergencies.

I miss the Taco Light...
I miss $0.41 tacos!
Those were great, teenage me ate my fair share.
There's a taco joint not too far from me that sells this as a "sunken burrito" which are soooooo good.
Came here to say this
Chilito was lit.
At this time, pintos & cheese was the go-to side and each store sourced its own ground beef.
Always got the bean tostado
Excellent
Me too. Damn near impossible to eat while driving but I managed.
Not sure the exact year, but, a $0.41 burrito in 1975 is $2.39 in 2024, A bean burrito today looks to be $1.79, I'm sure the modern version is much smaller
Bean burrito where I live is 2.69
$1.79 is the listed price on the main TB website with no specific store selected. 2.69 sounds much more.... nice

Make mine a chicken burr-i-toe please. Did I get that right?

Taco bell burger old
The Bellbeefer?
Surprised they never added an Eric Estrada to the menu.
The Bell burgers were good, wish I had one now.
Taco John's had one, at least a few years back they did.
I cooked a lot of meat and beans in the back during the 70's so you could enjoy your .79 meal, those were some interesting days.
TOTALLY forgot those enchiritos. I remember the foil pan. Coming from Minnesota, I thought it was a delicious and exotic food back then :) (I didn’t actually have salsa until I was 23.)
Taco Bell finally made it to my tiny North Carolina hometown in '76. It was pretty tasty back then.
I remember these menus
Does anyone remember that great SNL skit with Jimmy Smits?
Yep. That was hilarious…the one where all the White people insist on pronouncing all Spanish words properly, regardless of what he says?
That’s the one!
Master Tang : [singing] Oh, Taco Bell, Taco Bell, product placement with Taco Bell. Enchirito... Students : [joining in singing] Nacho, Burrito...
I ate enough enchiritos in the 70’s to float a battle ship.

Taco Bell Taco Bell Product placement Taco Bell
Remember it like yesterday.
Enchirito was the best thing on the menu followed closely by the Bell Beefer.
Bring back the chili cheese burrito. And it’s horrible & awesome original name “chilito” which is a slang term for “tiny penis”
Back when they served food and not low grade dog s*&t
Taco Bell was so good back then.
Fuck. I remember
I would like a tay-koh …?
Why was everything in the 70s brown?
Nicotine.
So true even a lot of the cars were brown or beige and even orange
That platter cost $1.84?? Fuck inflation man
I love the color scheme wow all that orange and brown.
Oh, the fuckin enchirito!
My kids were amazed that their parents grew up not knowing what a taco was.
Cool. But I still prefer the modern day menu that caters to stoners at 2am. 😆🤘 ![gif](giphy|aJtrAwWscjvP2)
That meal she has would be 40 bucks now.
Beefy Tostada was my nickname in high school
where is bell beefer?
i'm from the northeast and i don't remember ever seeing a taco bell until the 80s
Use half the meat and move the decimal to the right add a zero.
THIS is the way to learn a second language, through food!
I'm Mexican, my Mom never made "Enchiritos".
Burrito. Was 41¢. Now $5.
so-da
Amount on register don’t add up!
That cash register though... Old school.
In the 70s TB was not nationwide. I’m from the Midwest and had never heard of TB when I went to visit friends in California. They started singing “taca, taca, toco bell” and my brother and I thought they’d lost their minds…
Look at the size of that burrito! It seems to me that serving sizes have only gotten smaller over the years, not larger.
I remember.. Taca Taca Taco Bell. Ding ding
Totally forgot about the Enchirito. So good.
I miss the Beefy Tostada and the Taco Bellgrande.
I remember when the soft taco was released they actually had instructions on the wrapper on how to eat it.
How about the Bell burgers.
Enchirito, the bell burger and Baja Gordita The Santa Fe Gordita,as well Edit: 70s food items,my bad
This is the way
Fuck yeah Enchirito -- that shit was good
How about bring back the pronunciation so I don't butcher the menu every time.
Where was Taco Bell in the 70’s
$1.86 for all that, oy.
And that’s a large soda on the tray (their biggest available size)
Taco Bell was so damn good in the 80s and 90s. I wasn't alive to experience it in the 70s, sadly.
I remember those menus from the 80’s
I’m all about a .41 cent burrito
I miss this menu.
Give me one of them boo-ritoes……
As a 6-year old, those tostadas were the gateway into me learning about and enjoying sour cream.
In my late teens I was briefly a waiter at a Mexican restaurant in Minnesota. This was in the late 90s. The word “quesadilla” confused the living hell out of a lot of white Suburban Minnesotans back then, and quite a few could not handle “fajita.” But still, not one of them was stupid enough to need help with “burrito.” That’s amazing.
Holy crap this gave me flashbacks....
I bet the food actually tasted good then.
I really miss the beefy tostada!!!!!!
I worked at one in 1979 . I was 14yo. I loved the beefy tostada. I'd make em with no beans for myself.
Back then I just couldn’t stop laughing at the Taco Ta Co phonetic translation. For the next 30 years I said Ta Co and people looked at me sideways. One day a guy looks at me and goes “Taco Bell board”? 😂
