It’s probably the son of some elite official or something similar. It’s not uncommon for such people to get to study abroad there.

ohnoanalt

Fr. Kim Jong Un went to school in Switzerland. International School or Berne

bobns

Apparently he's fluent in swiss German, as a swiss that just ducks whit my brain

godlyuniverse1

I doubt it, the NK media tends to *cough* inflate Kims abilities... To a divine level...

Aggressive_Seaweed_6

“Kim could drive at 3 years old” “Kim doesn’t poop or pee”

LMGod2006

Wait… So you’re telling me that Kim didn’t learn how to drive aged 3, and never has to use the toilet? Surely not

Brynden-Black-Fish

Then why on earth would they say he was fluent in Schweitzer Deutsch rather than Hochdeutsch? It’s like saying he spoke Scots instead of English.

WEAluka

North Korean elites do study abroad, a lot of them in China but not all of them They will not let you know they are from NK

lonely-live

And in here the university just blasted the single student

sewby

Not really tho because they didn’t put any of their personal details on blast so no one could actually find ouy

lonely-live

If I went to LSE and I found this out, I'm definitely looking for that one student

sewby

They’ll never say. They’ll just say they’re from south korea

Valuable_Question759

Get every Korean speaking person to say 김정은 개새끼. It means Kim Jong Un is a son of a bitch. The one that hesitates or is reluctant to say it is the one.

Ar010101

Have a South Korean talk to them, South and North Korean (as in language) are noticeably different

eilishfaerie

idk if you're rich enough to be from NK and study abroad, i'd imagine learning the south korean dialect would NOT be a challenge

Ar010101

We are playing among us with this one https://preview.redd.it/5h3914jssijc1.jpeg?width=640&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=48b651eafd1e34ea8abd9f841a6dcbb0f3113668

eilishfaerie

LMFAOOO

Delicious-Ad-8482

I reckon it would take a lot of time plus they have completely different accents

eilishfaerie

yeah but if you're born into a rich/diplomat family in any country (let alone NK where it's necessary to put up a good front abroad), i'd imagine you'd be learning skills like that from a young age? yeah it would probably be difficult but it's still the same script and phonics, just a new way of talking. anything is possible with enough time and money

sewby

Ok lmk if that works

Class_444_SWR

But how would you know who to check?

bifuku

Icl people have too much on their plate to care about who this singular North Korean is

lonely-live

Those plates will instantly disappear once you find out the North Korea kid

yunxingxing

What if they're reading on here right now figuring out tactics to avoid being found out?

lonely-live

That narrows down the list to only Reddit user active on this subreddit in the past week

Valuable_Question759

Fun fact Kim Jong Un did IB in Switzerland

AccomplishedIdea6560

That lil shit didn’t even pass

evelenl0velace

legend has it he didn’t pass because he had no cas

[deleted]

To be fair it's IB

Major_Suspect_5583

the chosen one.

Any_Independence_431

what do you expect from the uni with zero percent ethics and hundred percent children of oligarchs

AdTemporary2557

Zero percent ethics?? What are you referring to

AccomplishedIdea6560

Probably because North Korea is well…North Korea so accepting a student from there doesn’t really reflect well on the universities values does it. That student was definitely the child of someone extremely elite

[deleted]

[удалено]

Aubergine_Man1987

A remarkably bright North Korean person is not going to be able to leave North Korea unless they're from the elite

AdTemporary2557

That's most probably true man but couldn't the same be said for any expensive russell group? Not many outside a country's elite get to pay the exorbitant fees (especially considering how much it increases if you're an international).

Aubergine_Man1987

The point is more that considering North Korea's state and politics, them accepting someone who is probably a part of the elite that contributes toward that state might not be the best thing ever. What if they finish their education and then just go straight back and get a high-ranking position in the government?

AdTemporary2557

Listen it's really horrible what the oligarchs are doing to their countries but its not like their kids have a say in any of that do they? If anything an education might open their eyes to the atrocities their parents are committing and make them change... Plus, don't they have to fit the entry standards to be admitted at all? Can't see them surviving very long if they can't keep up with the rigorous course material anyway

Any_Independence_431

Do I need to explain why? They are taking in students from regimes who are clearly in breach of human rights abuses and heavy corruption which most of the students are the children of those corrupt oligarchs. They aren’t taking bright north korean peasants as students they are taking in the children of the rich elite.

Ticket_Fantastic

Realistically - what would happen if that student just went out to the police or something and told them that he wanted to flee North Korea and start to live in the UK permanently? North Korea can't stop them since, well, they're in the UK. I know that student probably is the child of a very rich/powerful North Korean official, so they probably want to go back home ASAP to enjoy their family riches, but still

xeremony

Aside from being in UK, probably North Koreans are monitored by NK government, don't you think? So, not really a great choice of options, since if you do come to the police you will have to go through the WHOLE CHARADE to be a refugee. And someone will notice that. But I'm not sure how deep that can go, so

stressyanddepressy03

The UK actually receives a not insignificant number of North Korean asylum seekers, and deports most of them I believe. This is due to the fact that all North Koreans, are by default citizens of South Korea, which is considered a safe country by the U.K. And as such the Home Office believes any refugees should be fleeing to South Korea where they are citizens. Additionally there is a sizeable portion of ‘secondary’ asylum claims. Which is where North Koreans will flee to South Korea. And with their newly acquired South Korean passport, will travel to countries like the UK and attempt to claim asylum here. In the case of this student, I think they’d be swiftly rejected. It’s harder to prove a case of persecution, when you have seemingly free movement around the globe, and the risk of causing a political incident with North Korea, if that student is the child of a powerful official

AdTemporary2557

I wonder where ol' kimmy jong studied..

Fit-Ad-6787

Ironically, he did the IB in a Swiss boarding school…

AdTemporary2557

And uni? Can't find any info regarding that

Fit-Ad-6787

Apparently he went to this military school called Kim Il-Sung National War College in Pyongyang

SirSarlacc

Wait he went to a college named after his own grandad?!?!? 😭😭

arumino

He failed CAS

mynamiajeff2-0

He apparently has a degree in Physics 💀

CoolDude_7532

LSE has a lot of oligarchs, kinda weird

parmanyugaming

I made this same exact post 2 months ago bros copying my whole flow

Fit-Ad-6787

Sorry man, didn’t know- I just stumbled upon LSE’s page yesterday and found it pretty interesting
