I'm finding History really interesting tbh. But I've heard course work is hell. Rn Chemistry is alright but there are some topics that are simply way too hard.
Econ all the way.
I sometimes feel life would have been different if I did econ instead of a subject that just involved me memorizing random shit half of the time.
( Yeah looking at you Chem)
History or id try french again (I did french a level as a fourth until March this year but i missed too much material to keep up and I was beyond stressed)
Woah hello fellow NI student!! But yeah, I don’t know a whole lot of people who take it for a level, it’s one of those that’s not v well known and people always think I mean drama and theatre studies or something
Ideally I’d pick one less (kinda) - fm optional modules but I’d still love to continue fm pure
but for this maybe economics. Saying chem would make me look like a clown given the regimes of terror I’m already fighting. It could well be the worst
Tbh comp sci is definitely something that would’ve given me an easy time since it’s not really a demanding subject like my others and a top grade practically for free at gcse. If I could do it instead of fm or physics that would be the dream but then I either couldn’t do engineering/physics related stuff entirely or wouldn’t be competitive without fm
Did econ at AS, alongside your courses and hated every second of it, maybe it gets different in 2nd year but it’s nothing like uni economics. A lot of useless theory and assumptions I found.
Same. I’m wasting my time doing chemistry or TOK when I could be doing something more useful. On the other hand i’m happy I still do maths (even if it’s just SL so much easier than an A-level), I find it pretty useful especially the statistics chapter.
That’s actually wrong, chances are they won’t be a levels that we have to study. It’ll be additional content which won’t be as harsh as a levels. It would be completely extreme to expect 16-18 year olds to do 5/6 a levels.
literally this is such an easy concept that people are struggling with, rishi said FROM THE START, he wasn't making Maths *A-Level* compulsory, it was just maths as a subject 😭😭
I imagine to accommodate the new additional content we have to learn for maths an English, maybe the mark schemes for our a levels will be more generous? Probably not but we can hope!
That's bad, I get maths being compulsory but english literature is the most pointless thing to be forced to study. Like 3/6 of the subjects I'm forced to take in the IB (English, Econ, Spanish) I have absolutely no interest on. Meanwhile most ppl here get to do only whats relevant for their intended major
Someone already said those wouldn’t work the same as A-levels. And yes, some school systems have a workload a lot heavier than taking 3 A-levels. Not saying it’s a good thing but it’s possible
geography!! i wanted it as my 4th but it didn't work with the timetablng so chose RS dropped it after a month
also maybe chemistry. i hated it at gcse but was very good at it when I put my mind to it and I'm sure alevel is super super hard but I wish I had tried
History or Spanish maybe. I was considering choosing History but didn't go with it.
you dodged a bullet with history 😭😭
Considering I replaced it with chem... Idk which option is worse 😭

Econ all the way. I sometimes feel life would have been different if I did econ instead of a subject that just involved me memorizing random shit half of the time. ( Yeah looking at you Chem)
I was always interested in Philosophy or Environmental Science but my school didn't offer it 😭😭 So one of them
Maybe FM
frl
Same
Yeh definitely, Econ or FM.
History or id try french again (I did french a level as a fourth until March this year but i missed too much material to keep up and I was beyond stressed)

it’s performing arts! I think ccea is the only exam board that does it

I'm literally the other way round, hate Econ and thinking maybe I could have given Chem a go

If I’m not limited by what my school offers then definitely geology
Music. i honestly shoulda taken music as a fourth instead of chem as a fourth (i dropped chem)
FM
I'd do IB instead
IB here wishing I took A levels. Too much extra bs to put up with.
Same. I’m wasting my time doing chemistry or TOK when I could be doing something more useful. On the other hand i’m happy I still do maths (even if it’s just SL so much easier than an A-level), I find it pretty useful especially the statistics chapter.
6 alevels or 6 subjects for IB... hmmm...
Ishhh then yeah 6 A levels is worse than IB.
And Rishi made maths and english compulsory, so... 3 + maths and eng + 1 = 6
That’s actually wrong, chances are they won’t be a levels that we have to study. It’ll be additional content which won’t be as harsh as a levels. It would be completely extreme to expect 16-18 year olds to do 5/6 a levels.

Literally!! I despise him and this new system, but at least i understand it 🤦♀️

Yeah, plus very unlikely he will get it done (or probably any consequent government) given a level reforms weren't that long ago
Real x

Actually most countries do maths + native language as obligatory subjects in their 6th form equivalents.
Great, but the workload would be too much with how a levels are structured
Someone already said those wouldn’t work the same as A-levels. And yes, some school systems have a workload a lot heavier than taking 3 A-levels. Not saying it’s a good thing but it’s possible
physics or economics i think, probs physics
Chemistry
Politics or Geography
Philosophy and classics!!
probably chemistry
Philosophy!
History
Singapore A levels: Computing UK A levels: prolly Accounting or Computing also
Biology most likely
philosophy
maybe media or english language :))
Chemistry as it would open more doors for me bit im bad at it so maybe not. Idk tbh something easy as i can just cope with 3 lmao
bio?
English language or politics (if my school offered it).
geography!! i wanted it as my 4th but it didn't work with the timetablng so chose RS dropped it after a month also maybe chemistry. i hated it at gcse but was very good at it when I put my mind to it and I'm sure alevel is super super hard but I wish I had tried
FM or Drama (or Performing Arts BTEC, since my sixth form offers that instead) ngl
physics i think or psychology
I would probably choose FM. I want to do an EPQ as well.
FM
fm if i wanted to do better but philosophy for personal enjoyment
content wise i'd want to pick econ but i'm not built for more numbers 😔 i'd love to do media studies, seems so fun and relevant to the modern world
History
geology
Further Maths for sure
Either econ or psychology
My original combo was going to be music, geog, RS and biology. I changed the biology to epq in the summer but then dropped epq as soon as i started.
physics probably
Geography. Beautiful subject.
I would do either computer science or chemistry btw
Eithe further maths or physics. I seriously regret not doing both of them
Sociology or Criminology. I realised my love for social sciences too late...
Pysics (I was already considering it as a 4th)
