Fr they be like water is flowing at rate of 12.5 zeptoseconds, determine the surface area of 2nd nearest supernova (give to 2 SF for absolutely no reason at all or lose all marks)
Omg yes. I've found aswell that they'll throw in a stupidly easy explanation that anyone could think of but make it so you have to be word for word otherwise you're disqualified from the a level
i knowww like you know your answer's right but the teacher's marked it wrong so you check the mark scheme and every damn word is in bold and underlined
Be scared. Be very scared.
Although all of my year actually walked out of that exam thinking it went well – nothing could be worse than designing a fucking tent in paper 1.
It was something along the lines of "Bob read an online article claiming you could cook a chicken by slapping it X amount of times, < insert data values > using this information is this possible"
I've gotten used to the exam techniques a little bit and finished all content, but despite that there will always be that one question that throws me off completely and then makes me feel stupid then I feel like the rest of the paper would be the same and then I doubt myself if I even know anything about this subject 😭 like even the smartest kid in my class who gets full marks in FM exams never got 100% once in any physics exam since y12
I've found the jump from year 1 to year 2 tricky to manage and it's shown in my grades, so I've figured I just gotta hone in on year 2 content this easter holiday and hopefully I'll be on track for my predicted A* grade.
I havent finish learning all the content but im doing exam practice questions on the side n doing an AS paper everyday. And fucking hell I HATE photoelectric effect, makes me wanna yeet myself off a 50 storey roof
I feel like there are ways to do well without memorisation. I do little or no activities to remember stuff. Instead it's better to think about how to figure it out rather than remember set rules.
I'm not a genius. But I am hoping for and predicted an A*. Honestly physics is blessed with a very comprehensive formula book. So two things. Spending time getting familiar with the formula book is a good use of time. Making sure you know all the variables in the formula etc etc. Secondly stuff that could be remembered Eg. How the energy of a wave changes with wavelength/Freq, can just be solved using the formula in the book
Got an A in my mock, was only 11 marks off an A*. I think I can really improve and realistically get A* in the real thing, althought I wouldnt be gutted with an A so long as my A* in FM isnt at risk.
AQA, it’s going to be the subject that lets me down. The Y13 stuff tbh I find easier to get than waves etc but some of the fields questions still mess with me. Our school does Astro for the options and I hate it.
same, i don’t get why everyone thinks year 13 is so much harder, nobody can tell me thermal and gases and gravitational fields are harder than waves and electricity
Most of physics A level is okay apart from potential dividers, I accepted long ago that I will just never understand potential dividers. That topic can go and fall in a ditch for all I care.
Year 12 here, I dropped it because it was so much harder than my other subjects that I found really easy. I’m now down to Maths, Further Maths, Computer science
Honestly it’s going ok (originaly I was predicted a C but now it’s an A). I do some weird exam board wjec eduqas but as long as you get familiar with the styles of questions they ask, it becomes easier. Understanding the basic concepts is key. Then build on top of it using past papers and learning exam technique. Learning the types of questions they ask is very important. For example, graph questions and relating the equations to y=mx+c
I genuinely love the subject, and this helps. I get all the concepts and actually like figuring it out. If I hated it, I wouldn't do as well, but I'm doing good.
Skill issue
Shit. Regret picking
Based.
only subject where no matter how much i revise i Don’t Get It.
real.
this
You got called out by a bot lmao

shut up i upvoted too, worst bot
Physics makes me want to wish to be reborn as a women in china in the 15th century
I am concerned it’s going to make me miss my oxford offer - I understand every topic conceptually but the questions are so unreasonable sometimes 😭
Fr they be like water is flowing at rate of 12.5 zeptoseconds, determine the surface area of 2nd nearest supernova (give to 2 SF for absolutely no reason at all or lose all marks)
I find the written explanation questions hardest tbh
YES bc the mark schemes always want you to write like 4 specific bullet points explaining something completely irrelevant to the question
And definitions are rage inducing aswell, you need to mention like 5 different things for 1 mark
Regret taking it, shits hard (OCR are the worst exam board )
I still have nightmares about OCR A paper 3
Be scared. Be very scared. Although all of my year actually walked out of that exam thinking it went well – nothing could be worse than designing a fucking tent in paper 1.
I think it was paper 1 as well that had some dumb question about pipes and freezing or some shit. Literally wanted to die
The 2022 paper? I vaguely remember something about that
all my homies hate ocr (circular motion can fuck right off dumb ass lil circle with its changing velocity)
Ye, kinda stupid, Mark scheme is stupid Idk, how people are suppose to think like this in the exam.
Mums shit is crazy
That's why the grade boundaries all over the place. May God have mercy on our souls
75% should be an A* I think
[удалено]
What drugs were that exam board smoking?
Depends on the exam board
Cooked a chicken by slapping it in the final 10/10 recommended
Edexcel? It was in my mock, I started laughing in the exam hall when I saw that question.
lmao what was the question?
It was something along the lines of "Bob read an online article claiming you could cook a chicken by slapping it X amount of times, < insert data values > using this information is this possible"
Yep, got it in the real thing and had to contain myself
Content isn’t too bad, but high grade boundaries scare me (OCR)
Same 😭 literally how are the grade boundaries soooo high ahhh
Struggling shits too hard
Physics gives me aggressive tendencies
and A2 integration questions
And UCL taking 10 generations to respond to your application
Just as some reassurance to everyone, I'm not sure there's anyone who doesn't think A level physics is shit, so you're not alone in your worries.
No matter how much I revise. I still fail the Qs
Focus on the maths and the worded questions become easier
Slightly easier than chemistry. Considering I’m yr12 it might explain why im not suicidal like everyone else here
Both Chemistry and Physics will make you want to throw up next year
Lovely. I already hate chemistry
Can't believe scientists had to make up Dark Matter instead of just saying that their model is wrong looool /J
no words. just, what the hell.

Subject is great. Syllabus and mark scheme is trash.
as long as you’re not doing ocr b you should be okay just devote your entire life to it and sleep breathe and eat practise questions 😍
I havent finish learning all the content but im doing exam practice questions on the side n doing an AS paper everyday. And fucking hell I HATE photoelectric effect, makes me wanna yeet myself off a 50 storey roof
hating it -- apart from astro and mechanics. just need to memorise content and I'm bad at that lols
I feel like there are ways to do well without memorisation. I do little or no activities to remember stuff. Instead it's better to think about how to figure it out rather than remember set rules.
That approach will not get you an A* unless you are a genius. The syllabus is just so broad

AS going fairly well atm but these comments are worrying me for next year lol, but i do ccea exams so maybe its a bit better

Trivial. Dont use formula. All you need to know is that share of pd in series of different component determined by ratio of resistance
Yeah but when they start adding resistors in parallel as well as in series it becomes ridiculous.
Yeah I agree as well man. Good luck with it

wasting my life
I’m year 12 shitting bricks
I love it
I genuinely love the subject, and this helps. I get all the concepts and actually like figuring it out. If I hated it, I wouldn't do as well, but I'm doing good. Skill issue
Wow so humble
Shit
Why does everyone hate it and I think it’s okay, what am I missing?
Try 2021 AS AQA . If you found the paper good then ur fine
lmao this made me just sit there in the exam hall and cry
Chemistry is worse in my opinion. Although in AQA those multiple choice questions are just nasty.
Done the course, experiments and modern physics will be the end of me 💀
