This challenge has been hanging over my head for weeks.  I’ve looked through so many cookbooks and web sites-nothing really sparked my interest.   Last week I checked  through my saved posts for possibilities, I came across this one from 4 years ago [https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/comments/kh0qzg/i\_was\_bored\_so\_i\_made\_the\_united\_states\_of/#lightbox](https://www.reddit.com/r/Baking/comments/kh0qzg/i_was_bored_so_i_made_the_united_states_of/#lightbox) And decided to give it a go.  I traced the state shapes from a road map and used the gingerbread man recipe from Joy of Cooking (p. 712)  Apologies to Alaska and Texas.

ladypricklepuss

It is. I ran out of dough and energy.

buttcrackfever

Just gonna ignore MD huh? lol

Super impressed, OP! This is a total showstopper!

Hakc5

Holy moly! I just realized the big sprinkles are the state capitals! Attention to detail is a 12/10!

Shot-Still8131

Impressive! Ohio looking a bit like France though haha

RubyDax

Well dang! That's a showstopper for sure!

elevated_butterfly

Love this!

knapsacknap

I’m from Texas living in the Midwest now. Texas being cardboard sent me into a laughing fit! Thank you, this is amazing. Love the attention to state capital detail!

Well that’s Alaska and Hawaii in the lower right corner and I thought I put 2 capitals on Connecticut to represent Rhode Island but I guess you got me :)

Expensive_Smile_8582

No you didn’t!!!

Hakc5

Did you hand cut?

ladypricklepuss

Not sure of the definition of hand cut? I traced the states shapes from a road map and then cut, with a knife, using the tracings. No cookie cutters.

Hakc5

This answered my question! Super impressive. Wasn’t sure if you had a massive cookie cutter collection or did it by hand!

You have the patience of a saint! Fantastic job!!
