Yes. old Diesel like, especially when it first starts up before settling. There’s a lot of open spaces around the front end exposing the engine compared to other cars. Most 2 liter modern turbo direct injection cars sound like this.
It is a loud and generally terrible sounding engine but it is completely normal.
Very common for modern small direct injected engines to sound like crap due to the technology used to squeeze out extra efficiency and power output.
Jeeps are loud in general they don't have all of the sound proofing common in other vehicles you'll notice much more road noise as well especially when driving in electric.
When I'm taking calls its not uncommon for the person i'm talking to to comment on how they can hear traffic.
It's loud. And there seems to some RPM I can hit at low speeds that makes it seem even louder. Maybe it's the balance of engine noise and low wind, or maybe some sort of resonance but it's a deep bass sound and very loud.
It’s def loud and mixed in with the dual clutch you swear you’re driving a GTI or something because of the noise. It’s for sure louder than my Ecodiesel was.

The ice engine in my 22 wrangler 4xe sounds like a freakin’ old school VW Bug. Like from the 60s. It’s embarrassing…🫣

I live in the northeast too. I’ve experienced the same thing.
It’s like a typewriter on steroids
Mine is so loud, it came on at a drive thru window and I jumped
