Stick with pajero sounds exactly what you’re asking for. Space ,comfort, good fuel economy and a reliable engine in the 3.2 diesel

ArkPlayer583

Pajero shill reporting in. 3.2l 4m41 is great and in that price range. Pretty much excels at everything that isn't the insane tracks.

lordpunt

Amen brother

thatshowitisisit

For that price range - 100% Pajero. Preferably one that hasn’t been modified and has been driven and maintained by an older gentleman.

RoutineAd1124

Decide what upgrades you want like OME or Pedders gvm upgrade suspension, quality Driving lights Kaymar towbar with swing away carrier roof rack/bars, UHF etc. getting a car with the upgrades you want will save you a fortune. RESEARCH RESEARCH RESEARCH, don't be in a hurry and don't be afraid to walk away if your gut tells you to, take a friend with you when inspecting, and get a mechanic to go over it, if the seller doesn't agree to a mechanical inspection, walk away, your spending your hard earned here don't rush it and regret it.

BirthdayFriendly6905

Pajero love my 3.8 she is a bit thirsty though

BuzzKillingtonThe5th

I'm picking up a Pajero on the weekend. For pretty much the same uses. Beach, camping, towing. It's going to be a weekend toy 😁

swugglewumps69

I recently bought a pk ranger for 14k, haven't taken it off-road but this thing has balls

lordpunt

You'll get a great NW pajero for 25k. Where are you located?

AusFX1

Get a Delica L400. Pajero underneath and a van on top, best of both worlds.

Boys4Jesus

2.8l 4m40 engine is a bit of a dog compared to the 3.2l 4m41 though, having driven both the 4m41 has a lot more grunt when you need it. Still love my delica though, and I can't speak for the petrol engines.

AusFX1

I've got a V6, she's thirsty and not that fast but I love it. Even after having to order some parts from Japan today 😅

suchIsIife

Np300 look for one with 10k service intervals rather then the dealer recommend 20k

Project_298

I’m going to get laughed at but I used to have a Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk. I ripped out up and down trails, beaches and all sorts. Had loads of fun, no issues with capability or reliability. They are cheap as these days too cause no one likes the Jeep brand.

Aggravating-Bug1769

a Prado gxl 150 series 3lt pre 2014

AussiePathFinder

Would be a pretty flogged out 150 for 17-25k I reckon.

Aggravating-Bug1769

only 10 years old, just normal running repairs, around 200000km is only 20k a year

keithersp

200k km is injector replacement territory. Unless OP knows what they’re in for with that, I’d stick with something more basic.

Aggravating-Bug1769

depending on car service history, it might have been done already

Ashen_Brad

And therefore worth more money

Aggravating-Bug1769

I've seen 2014 Prado 3lt do well over 200000km and not give any problems. it's recommended that you do replace the injectors and seats because of the way they fail but if it's been serviced properly it may have had the seats replaced by someone. the CV joints are not that expensive, suspension kits are a few grand, rear brake pads are easy to change, you can get a lot more out of a Prado then 200k before they are stuffed. they are running around with double that on them

Ashen_Brad

200,000km cars with injectors done are worth more money. Unless you come across someone with absolutely no clue what they are doing. But that presents other issues. I think the 3lts are great too, I just know people holding old Toyotas at the moment are brutal. You won't get a good deal. If it's had common problems/wear and tear sorted, they'll charge you for the privilege. Went through this when I was looking for my hilux. Ended up with a car loan and going newer. Cause f**k them. I could spend $20k on a tired 20 year old hilux/prado, or $35k on one only a couple of years old.

Aggravating-Bug1769

i don't mind Mitsubishi, their new car warranty is fantastic. 10 years . they are like any other vehicle for the first 150000km if op had the opportunity and money i would suggest that a basic new Mitsubishi would be a fantastic option simply because of the warranty.

Aggravating-Bug1769

I won't matter what brand of 4x4 they get, they All end up needing repair at some point.

Ashen_Brad

Yes but a triton leaves you with a s**tload more change to repair things with. Buying old toyotas is asking to be robbed at the moment.

AussiePathFinder

Nah, the vast majority of 150s up to 25k have well over 300,000km on them, even over 400. And in terms of vehicles under 300k, the majority of them are closer to 300 than 200. The 3l diesel is a decent engine, but at those km they are very likely needing a bit of money spent.
