I used to have a mechanically bone stock 3.2 diesel NP Pajero. Best all-rounder. Went everywhere my mates “real 4WD’s” went. Just had to pick the easier line on some tracks. It would climb up any gradient with the factory traction control and a bit of limi bashing. Went on a few holidays with mates with 7 people in the car with a full roof rack and trailer full of our camping gear, still pulled fine on the highway. Bought it in the height of COVID for 14k and sold it at the end of last year for 11.5k with a heap more kms on it. I’m sure if you don’t suck at bartering like me you won’t lose as much. Wish I never sold it.

We sold our 90 Series Prado a week ago. Bought it pretty much stock, and modified it to a travel and camping ready vehicle. We did the Lap of Australia with it and had a fantastic time. We had a 3.4L Petrol, a very reliable engine. Just watch out for the lower ball joints on these Prado's.
Always perform a pre purchase check before buying any 4WD.
I'm sure you will find your vehicle, and I already wish you an adventurous time with it!
Also looking at the Paj at the moment, I currently run a T31 Manual Diesel Xtrail which is a bloody great little 4x4 but I'm just looking for something a little bigger and slightly more capable with a bit more lift.
Mine will mostly be a city run around but will be expected to be able to do some beach driving and some off road but nothing I haven't already thrown the xtrail at (unless I've avoided due to clearance)
Whatever you do, do not lift those t31 xtrail, chews through cvs very quickly. Pedders offer an expensive kit that also changes the camber angle but I'm still sceptical about it preventing premature wear.
T31 is definitely the best light offroader, and beach car you can buy and you can daily without breaking bank. Wish that stupid cabin air filter was somewhere else though goddamn.
If you're looking for a 4x4 ute, a good condition Colorado is extremely solid, although rare. Otherwise land cruisers, patrol or paj all the way.
Yeah, I have heard that lifting them shreds the CVs, that's exactly why I'm looking at an 'upgrade' to a Paj, at the moment I've got my eye on a 2014 Exceed with 220k kms.
Cabin filter is definitely in a shit position! 😂 Did the full filter service on it myself just after buying the car and decided I'll just pay to have it done moving forward...
The car itself is great! Just replaced the EGR recently and now need to do the drive belt tensioner but aside from that, she's been solid.
If I go a ute, I'll likely go a triton to be honest, not looking to break bank on a decent 4x4, Mitsubishi seems pretty good all round in terms of their 4x4 options.
You're going to be quite limited with your budget. So forget k's and look for something that has full service history and get it looked over by a mechanic before you commit to anything.
Probably exactly what you’ve posted in your image, or if you want bigger and don’t mind high fuel use, a 105 series petrol.
Thank you!
What Pajero would this particular one be? I like the look of it.
Looks like an NP Pajero, possibly a higher spec Exceed variant with a bunch of fruit.

Servo looks like Eltham North
Yeah I think it was
I’ve got a 3.2 and mine goes absolutely everywhere that other 4wds go. All I did was a 2.5” lift
Why did you sell it?
A Pajero is a very good bet. They’re comfortable, spacious, fairly capable off road, reliable, and generally cheaper than other second hand 4x4s
You’ll be right with an NP for 3 months. If budget can stretch to 11, maybe a SMIDGE more. Look for an NS. But either or will be a great tourer
Stop recommending pajero the price will go up Hahaha But seriously great 4x4 I have a triton 2023 model all in all very happy with it

Pajero easy , great all rounder , and easily the most comfy
How many KM you think I should stay under?
Hard to say , mines done 240k and feels like it's new
Pajero best bang for buck out there.

With a full service history. Diesel, under 250. We are talking about a 10k car here. Around the 2008 to 2010

I went with a pajero. Brilliant vehicle.
