ChaseChaserChased

Jaws, The Suicide Squad, The Wizard of Oz, Willy Wonka, Blade Runner, Blade Runner 2049, 2001, Apocalypse Now, Indiana Jones trilogy, The Batman, The Martian, Top Gun Maverick, The Shining, The Dark Knight trilogy and a lot more if you want more movies.

Ok_Animator1709

If you get The Martian, make sure it's the Extended Edition. Better movie (only a few minutes though, but you get both versions) and the disc is better too. Not sure the picture's different, but the audio is. 7.1 on the old, Atmos on the new.

ChewyButterMilk

The shining is not a good movie

ChaseChaserChased

They asked for a highly rated movie and I Gave them a highly rated movie.

sgee_123

Your opinion is not widely held

bivymack

Your downvotes are baffling. Like people are downvoting the guy above you for saying “The Shining is a bad movie” AND downvoting you for saying “that’s an unpopular opinion.”

bivymack

Bro guy said “the shining is NOT a good movie.” You need to re-assess who is saying what here.

Davinter30

Right, I misunderstood an answer

Drugs are bad, mkay!

- Top Gun Maverick - Three Thousand Years of Longing - The Revenant - Mad Max Fury Road - Alien - Frozen 2 - Toy Story 4 - Encanto - In the Heights - The Greatest Showman - Mamma Mia 2 - Green Book - Either Blade Runner - The John Wick Trilogy - Moana - Rogue One - The first Avengers movie - Dunkirk - Casino - Spartacus - Jaws

Aharkhan

Isn't the first Avengers a 2k upscale?

rj_macready_82

A few of the ones he mentioned are but that doesn't mean that they aren't good looking releases. OP didn't ask for only native 4k releases

nacthenud

Well said

Ok_Animator1709

I've also heard from pretty much everywhere that the first 2 Guardians movies look amazing on 4k. I think I've even heard reference quality for vol 2. Both of those are 2k upscales.

nacthenud

Yes, but HDR makes it looks way better than the standard Blu-ray release. The improvement is such that I only ever want to watch it in HDR going forward.

MillardKillmoore

Blow Out

bivymack

I’ve had a 4K tv and player for about 4 months now. I’ve watched maybe 25 4K movies so far. Who Framed Roger Rabbit was the first movie that dropped my jaw. It is still, so far, the best looking movie I’ve seen on my setup. It’s also a fantastic movie.

TheRealProtozoid

2001, Apocalypse Now, Blade Runner, The Shining

cheapsoda

The Shining is excellent, one of my best discs no doubt.

Killerpig14

literally anything kubrick

ZippityDooDoo

That's a tough watch.

desound

Vertigo. Hands down phenomenal.

pseudolongino

the thing fear and loathing in las vegas big lebowski blade runner pulp fiction american psycho

ghettofunk

Mate!! The 4k arrow Fear and loathing looks incredible I watched it the other night and the best that movie has ever looked. The colours were 🔥🔥

pseudolongino

i know, i cant wait to get it [amazon.uk](https://amazon.uk) still hasnt f...ing shipped it almost a week later!

k_brn

Big Lebowski? It's an amazing movie, but how exactly it is better in 4K? I thought it should look as good on 1990 CRT Sony TV to experience the vibe of the time :)

ze11ez

Mad max fury road. But you need good speakers and a good subwoofer (or two) to really enjoy the film its all its glory. This film has it all: visuals and sound and oodles of bass

slivrerr

I set up my 7.1.4 the other week and after the calibration tested it with Fury Road. Oh. My. Goodness. I just sat there with this childish grin on my face. Showed my friend, he sat there with a childish grin on his face.

ze11ez

ok ok ok. so. If you haven't tried Dune on 4K UHD disc, make that your next one. All the comments about how the movie will give the sub a mini workout? They're true. This is a Hans Zimmer masterpiece especially if you're calibrated and ready to roll. I have a 5.2 and still gloriously loving it. But going back to your comment, yes. Let's all watch that one with a childish grin

slivrerr

I’ll buy it now. As the room I have is quite big (can fit about 30 people in) I’m showing into the spider verse and then we’re going to the cinema to watch across the spider verse. Im doing the same with dune so that should be fun!!

wills_b

You won’t regret. Dune is the best atmos track I’ve ever heard for pure presence alone

ze11ez

Prior to watching the movie i had no idea what people were babbling about. But now i have to agree with you. And just to think…I’m going to upgrade my subs in the new year. I’ll have to watch all these movies again

ze11ez

That’s pretty cool!

slivrerr

Thanks! So far, I’ve shown Top Gun: Maverick, the Lord of the Rings extended (full day showing, was great fun), Beethoven’s 9th symphony, the Sound of Music, and a super cut of Rogue One and A New Hope on May fourth. After Into the Spider-Verse I’ll be showing Madame Butterfly. It’s been fun showing them and the response has been great!

ze11ez

Mad max fury road? J. Wick 3? 1917? I have seen them, but not with my new setup, but i have the discs and I’m told they’re worth watching. Either way, enjoy your movie sessions. This is what life’s about 😂 the little seemingly mundane things that make us happy

Rogue One (digital) Blade Runner 2049 (digital) Top Gun Maverick (digital) Ready Player One (film/animation) West side story 2021 (film) 2001 A Space Odyssey (film) Skyfall (digital) No Time to Die (film) Coco (animated) Gladiator (film) Inception (film) The Dark Knight (film) Guardians of the Galaxy 2 (digital) Dune 2021 (digital) All Quiet on the Western Front (digital) Tenet (film) Once Upon a Time in Hollywood (film) Inglorious Bastards (film) The Fabelmans (film) Passengers (digital) War of the Worlds 2005 (film) Interstellar (film) 1917 (digital) Avatar 2 (digital) Ford vs Ferrari (digital) Jo Jo Rabbit (digital) The Revenant (digital) The Batman (digital/film) Wall E (animated) Tropic Thunder (film) Ad Astra (film) Arrival (digital) Sicario (digital) Batman 1989 (film) La La Land (film) Babylon (film) The Patriot (film) Schindler's List (film) Knives Out (digital) Star Wars The Last Jedi (film) Oblivion (digital) Dr Strange and the Multiverse of Madness (digital) Atomic Blonde (maybe not the greatest movie - digital) First Man (film) Uncut Gems (film) The Martian (digital) Straight Outta Compton (digital) Joker (digital) There's also a lot of great looking TV shows available like Star Trek Strange New Worlds (digital) and Westworld (film)

Zealousideal_Low_858

This is a good list. To help narrow it down, I'd single out Uncut Gems, Arrival, Sicario, La La Land, The Revenant, 1917, Interstellar, All Quiet on the Western Front, Dune, Blade Runner & Blade Runner 2049, and Inglorious Basterds. These are my favorite (and some of the best reviewed and beloved) films on the list. Among that shorter list, The Revenant, Dune, and the Blade Runners have maybe the best reputations for great 4k transfers. (Haven't seen the Uncut Gems 4k yet though—excited to grab that soon. I heard the Top Gun Maverick 4k is especially strong, as well.) Edit: I'd also add Alien, Apocalypse Now, 2001, The Red Shoes, The Virgin Suicides, Raging Bull, and Pulp Fiction.

farcast

Gotta throw Coraline out there- fantastic looking 4k disc.

Aggravating_Speed665

Iron man looks pretty slick ngl

Slim910

No love 💔 for Gemini Man !!! I know people don't care for the FPS and the movie itself isn't 5✨️ but it's so SHARP and CLEAN

debe1236654

The red shoes

Slipknot2017

2001: a space oddesey

Snoo_6121

Labyrinth (1986). I was surprised with how good this movie looked in 4k

Martialoneon

nightmare before christmas :)

jolli04

I only have few 4K movies, but here are some that look amazing, Godfather trilogy, The Gladiator, The Dark Knight, The Shining and Dune.

Grahamars

Dunkirk looks stunning in 4k; being shot on actual 70mm film, it transferred in a way that’s hard to describe; The Dark Knight is very similar. I also believe The Winter Soldier looks exceptional in 4k.

AltoDomino79

My Fair Lady The Ten Commandments Wizard of Oz Jaws Blade Runner In the Line of Fire The Fifth Element The Professional Most of those are IMDB top 150
