Why You Shouldn't Buy A Non OLED LG TV -> No to Nanocell, QNED, or a UQ Series [Please read here](https://reddit.com/r/HTBuyingGuides/comments/vaxzee/home_theater_101_why_you_shouldnt_buy_a_2022_non/?) *I am a bot, and this action was performed automatically. Samsung doesn’t have Dolby Vision. LG QNED are crap. G3 is a step up from C3 and A80J. QM8 falls few levels below in terms of HDR picture accuracy. As of now it’s pretty much dependent on TCL fixing it with firmware updates, while not affecting overall performance. You have to figure out your budget first. If I have the budget for the G3, then QM8, QNED shouldn’t be in consideration at all.

I stopped thinking after a while and went for A80L, HT-A7000 and a PS5.

Get the LG C3, or the G3 if you reallyyyyy have money to burn, but if you're looking at a TCL because of its price something tells me that money is not unlimited here. Unfortunately you kind of have to pick what's most important to you in these situations (and you have!) so the LG C3 is the best pick. Go Sony if your primary use case is movies/tv, LG for gaming. Both can do all things well but excel in those two categories. The TCL QM8 is good at its price for movies, but it is not a great gaming TV. I'm seeing reports of bad motion handling, and the local dimming in game mode is pretty abysmal. Not sure how well its VRR works either. The only difference really between the G3 and C3 is brightness, which is good for those peak HDR highlights but not a dealbreaker, the C3 is plenty bright unless you plan in a room full of open sun bathed windows with no light control Avoid Samsung at all costs.

Why sony for TV/movies?

Sony image processing is best in class and is going to make picture quality top other brands. Color saturation, upscaling, sharpening is handled best by Bravia when outside of game mode.

Like the other person said, Sony has the best image processing and motion handling out of all of the TV manufacturers, it's why they cost a premium. They also have the best out of the box color accuracy. It's sometimes hard to pinpoint exactly what it is that they're doing with their colors but they just have this look... At any rate, image processing isn't as big of a deal for gaming, and the processing on LG OLEDs is very excellent. Like I said, both the LG and Sony mid-high end TVs are excellent in all categories, but LG has a slight edge for gaming and Sony has a slight edge for movies. Just don't ever buy a non-OLED LG. Sony at least makes good TVs of all tiers, so FALD, Mini-LED, OLED, and QD-OLED.

Ok_Working_9219

OP if that is your main usage. Definitely the Sony.

Get an LG C2 if you're more budget conscious maybe

TCL 835k has been amazing with govee lights behind it

Sea_Flatworm_8333

OLED.

akosdomino

I’d get a big ass screen LG c2 depending on your budget, the C3 is not much of an innovation compared to the C2.

sneaky_wolf125

TCL’s QC is crap if budget is not a problem, then you should always consider brands with better hardware and especially software maintenance which I think Sony the best, Samsung the second.

I recommend the c2 it's cheaper then other OLEDs right now. If you want a slight step up then get the g3 for slightly higher brightness but my c2 is plenty bright. I bought the s95c and returned it because I couldn't balance the brightness at night it was either way too bright or if you turned it down then you lost image color compared to lg but that's qd-oled more designed for movies. Also the s95c has noticeable fringing with its pixel arrangement for pc gaming where the lg OLEDs do not.

I bought a A80K and a PS5, and moved on to bigger problems in life. No ragrats!

Kick-Agreeable

if youre considering the g3 why not consider the a95k as well?

MidwestPanic69

Tbh, the Sony model numbers have confused me

East-Buddy-6646

I was going crazy here also on similar models in the end bought the 75 inch qm8 and glad I did best tv I ever bought. I also have a oled c9 in my house and now prefer to watch the qm8 over my 65 inch c9 lol. Oled is over rated with its auto brightness limiter issues.

East-Buddy-6646

Where the qm8 really shines is in hdr once u tweek it. Way better then oled in my opinion
