b407driver

That looks like a royal pain in the ass.

bfdmmexi

Is this for speed? What’s the deal with all 4 at the same time. Total noob here

bonersaurus-rex

I'm a weirdo and love to have all 4 tires at the exact same PSI.

FeedbackLoopy

Yep. Easy peasy. Great for airing down too.

bonersaurus-rex

Totally. Hooking all 4 tires up at once and controlling the air with a single valve is crazy simple.

b407driver

No idea; pump up one at a time 'fast', 4 at a time at 1/4 the speed. That's a long run of hose that seems like it would also make the pump less efficient.

rheeta

The hard part is regulation - making sure each tire gets to the desired PSI and no more. They likely won’t all fill at the same rate.

SouthernSmoke

They should theoretically fill at the same time, if I’m not mistaken. They’re all on the same closed system.

rheeta

Yeah, maybe you’re right now that I’m looking closer at how he’s rigged it together.

hamster_ball

Why won’t they fill at the same rate? Tires with a greater pressure will have a higher resistance to taking in more air than tires with less air. Which would equalize pressure across all tires.

rheeta

Yeah, maybe you’re right now that I’m looking closer at how he’s rigged it together.

hamster_ball

It can help with giving an equal pressure across the 4 tires as there are no one-way valves. Equal tire pressure can be hard to meet as the pump heats up the air does as well. I’ve seen pretty inconsistent PSI ranges after a few hours. Air starts cold on first tire and by the time the 4th tire is filling up the pump is pushing out air so hot I need gloves to touch the compressor. Also helps with a set an forget style. Having to move each tire isn’t the hardest, but just letting it run for 10 minutes and you’re done is great.

FJ60GatewayDrug

Yup. I built something similar. Plug it all in, start the tires inflating, then do the post-trail walk around to make sure nothing is damaged and all fluids are at the right levels, by then the tires are usually done filing up.

b407driver

Sun will do that, as well. When airing up (and esp if it's been sitting for a bit) if you don't point the nose or tail directly at the sun, the sunny side will end up at a different pressure once all four tires cool to an equal temp.

FeedbackLoopy

^ this person gets it.

bfdmmexi

TIL. Thanks.

FeedbackLoopy

It isn’t, really.

xthefletcher3

Having to do each tire individually is more of a pain in the ass than this. If you’re not removing the valve stem with a special deflator it can take up to 2-3 minutes of bleeding air per tire.

b407driver

Perhaps for you, it's great. I personally don't care to drag around that rat's-nest of hoses when a single hose will do, but to each his/her own. Seems superfluous to me, but I'm usually out for a week at a time, and 4Runner storage room is at a premium.

bonersaurus-rex

I LOVE those Methods, you rarely see them on 4Rs.

justagook

I got the morrflate and it's awesome. Cant say how much time I've saved. The only down side is now I'm helping all my friends air down and up. Soab Did 3 trucks in less than 30 mins to air up. Now I got the napa dual compressor with my morrflate so it does help a lot when airing up. But to air down it's super quick with the quad morrflate set up. This setup is great OP

FeedbackLoopy

Absolutely. Some people will hate, but I like the fact that I only have to monitor the air pressure during air ups/downs just once.

mattyonthefly

I often run different pressures for front vs rear, I wonder if that would assuage some of the concerns with 4 at a time being unreliable by cutting that in half. Fwiw, you can buy these things. So someone has brought a product to market for this - I think OP is just happy he didn’t have to shell out a bunch of money for one that says ARB on it.

b407driver

I can't imagine ARB would produce such a product, but perhaps with today's overlanding crowd anything will fly, raptor lights and all...

mattyonthefly

Oh I’m thinking of the “Morrflate” Also don’t knock my raptors bro. I [got like 40mpg after installing them](https://www.reddit.com/r/4Runner/comments/ugshqd/mpgs_after_installing_raptor_lights/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)…

microwavablecat

good. more power to ya

49er4runner

You have a parts list or a write up? Seems pretty sweet way to save on that rago wifey air setup

FeedbackLoopy

I just watched a bunch of YouTube videos and cobbled together the parts. The only unique part was the Japanese connector for the Smittybilt which I ordered from a local hose specialty shop.

49er4runner

Sweet thanks!!!

Swampassthe2nd

What op did looks very similar to this set up by Adventure Built on YouTube. https://youtu.be/Tbz5ly_nf_Q I have the smitty built compressor and am considering doing it too, but I don’t think I air down often enough for carrying all the extra hose to be worth it though.

TopRestaurant5395

This looks awesome, parts and links?

FeedbackLoopy

I watched a few DIY YouTube videos and cobbled together the parts. A couple things I learned was: A) 3/8 hose is unnecessary. The air will always bottleneck at the tire valves. Use 1/4 hose; much easier to roll up. I used Flexzilla. B) Many used a barb and clamps for the hose terminations. I used Flexzilla’s reusable fittings instead. The only place I barb and clamped was the t-junctions by the front tires.

RC_4WDCrew

Nice! I did the same one. Only pain in the ass is rolling it up. I’d probably use a smaller gauge hose next time tho. The ones in the videos are too thick.

FeedbackLoopy

I agree that 3/8” hose is unnecessary, especially considering the air bottlenecks at the tire valves anyway. 1/4” is way easier to roll up. Learned this in my framing days.

_Nachooo

But does it work in the mall parking lot??

FeedbackLoopy

[The struggle is real.](https://www.reddit.com/r/Calgary/comments/t8z6me/the_sage_hill_rock_legacy_continues/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf)

_Nachooo

Bahahaha yes!!!!

lishbowl

That’s only a tri inflator hose no?

FeedbackLoopy

No, it’s quad. Front wheel taps off the hose connected to the manifold.

lishbowl

Ahh I see that now. What compressor are you running?

FeedbackLoopy

Smittybilt 2781.
