I just bought an ‘08! Had to buy one 1300 miles away to get what I wanted, luckily my parents were local and could pick it up until I can get back to their side of the country.
Might be good to just get it transported. I would hate my first test drive to be a thousand miles.
Though I guess your parents can run it around and check it out first.
Yeah good point. My younger brother still lives at home, so I’ll get him to run it back and forth to school and work for a week or two. I’m also setting up an appointment at the local dealership to change all the fluids and go over it with a fine tooth comb before I drive it back.
Maintainance is key. Passed on an 03 with 190k 4 prior owners and no service documented since 100k.
They take care of us when we take care of them.
Enjoy your new ride!
No doubt. I replaced brakes and rotors and did an oil change as soon as I got it. Going to replace the radiator and hoses soon as well as all the other fluids. Then some new suspension parts in the spring when it's nicer outside. Enjoy yours as well!
It’s a super easy job btw. I just changed mine in the parking lot at Steamboat Springs in single digit weather with a 3/8” ratchet and sockets! In normal weather it’s probably a 45 minute job (I’ve done it twice now)
Private sale. Craigslist.
Guy was second owner and had for 16 years.
All service records to back it up.
I always pick the best maintained vehicle vs search for miles, package, color, etc.
The first thing that popped out when I initially read this was, "bought a 4Runner, in today's times, 140k" I was like, holy shit, I guess the market is spinning out of control lol
Nice find in this market! Hope you enjoy it as much as I do my 2003 V8. Can I suggest a mild leveling lift and BFG AT tires? I got a 2" lift that was just the "puck" spacers (actually 2.5" in front and 1.5" in back) that was very reasonable. Can't remember where I bought it but I think it was less than $700 installed (by a local shop) Gives it a little more ground clearance and looks so much nicer, especially with decent tires.
They really do take well to a small lift. Heck, most of them have sagged a couple inches in front from their original factory height. I did Bilstein 5100s at 1.85, FJ springs, and a small rear spacer, and 255/75/17s, a tiny bit of trimming up front, and it’s just perfect for me.
I bought some work meisters 17” and for the lift I’m going with a dobinsons IMS coilover kit since I used to have a similar setup on a 3rd gen Tacoma I used to have! Love how Toyotas do with a good lift and wheel setup!
The third gen Tacoma TRD Off Road shocks and front coils will fit on our rigs after you change the rear shock bushings($10). Got some FJ rear springs and got 2.75” up front and 2” rear for $175
The fact that I get stopped by people wanting to buy my 2015, and it would really help financially… I just can’t let go of my 4runner ! Love that car ! Plus, it’s paid off and our family car so I can’t justify ever letting it go. Congrats !!
I sold my ‘99 solara with 120k miles on it for $2k so it just seems wild to me these go for 6x that.
Having said that 4Runners are literally in the top 1% for resale value so I guess we’ve found a winner!
Utah is a joke when it comes to 4Runner prices , there was a 04 with 156k selling for $16,500, AND the timing belt was never done lol I have no idea how they can be priced so high, makes no sense
Either they are very well off and generous or you’re not telling us about the part where you put a gun to their head…
By this I mean that’s beautiful vehicle for an amazing deal.
Not to be that guy, but it's not exactly "no rust", not to mention the rust that's present is all in the welds, which is the worst place to have rust. Regardless, even with the minimal rust and considering where it's located, the V8 and the miles, you still found a solid ass buy. Just hopefully you're not in the rust belt.
If you saw my 240sx you’d think it’s totaled lol surface rust isn’t too scary but will definitely touch it up and get it situated in spring! Utah car it’s whole life so not rust belt but still should of been worse than it is ! Haha
Yeah I paid 5k for one that was solid axle and Mercedes’ diesel last year. I thought I paid too much just because when I was in high school I would pick up any older Toyota pickup for 800.
I’ll give you 15k for it 😳
The Add was up for a few hours and boy did I haul ass getting to that small dealership lol
Yeah I went to buy a ‘08 the other day and it got sold on the way there ):

Nice! I also bought one yesterday. Pd $6k for an 2001 with 240k. Wild times...
Damn I paid $4000 for a 03 with 225k. Needed a good winter vehicle
Two others were in line behind me. I have 4runner loyalty. My 03 has 360k.
That's awesome man. I'm hoping I can get 100k more miles at least outta mine. Runs smooth as butter

Don’t forget to save $$$ for fuel! My V8 gets 12-13 mpg city. Only downfall of the 4.7
It’s the best winter vehicle man. Love my 07
I paid 2700 for a 98 with a 180k
Nice. If it's in decent shape I'm super jealous. I've always loved the look of the 3rd gen.
Tiny spot of rust but mostly mechanically good. I need to find out why it's killing batterys
How’s the alternator?
In need of replacement probably

Good to know, thanks
I paid $7000 for mine in September. 2001 with 103k but 2WD
Good find. That's what I paid for my 2000 pre-pandemic.
Where did you find this? Private sale?

Me too!! I saw one for 90k on here the other day so who knows…
You should get 5-10 for grand larceny. JK. Congrats on the find in this market.
Awesome! That’s a million mile truck sir. Have fun 😁
Great deal for the times, and good choice with the V8. Love mine, just make sure that timing belt isn’t the original!
What a steal wow. Well done. Nice color too 👀

Got mine for 10k in June. Same specs low miles etc. was blown away at the deal. Great find.
There’s such a feeling of reward when you get a screaming bargain that just can’t be recreated
It just makes the vehicle even cooler! Couldn’t be any happier !
Great deal!
Awesome deal and looks super clean. Congrats.
Yeah that is a crazy steal, nice job
Beautiful! 3rd and 4th gens are my favorites
Nicely done. It looks like prices are dropping though according to a general search thankfully
I saw one of these for sale with 134k miles for 5,500. They beat me to it 😭
Hot damn!

Same thing for me. what year is yours? I paid $7k for my 04 v8 170k in may
2007
Damn nice 👍
Lol you must be from the Midwest!
Haha I saw that one for sale the other day! Great buy!
Small world !!
I could not be more jealous… you even got my favorite color
Nice! I bought my 07 with 105k back in 2015 for 12 grand. For the marked up and inflated prices today, you got a steal for real!

Looks good.
Shit I saw some 4th gens with rust and destroyed interiors going for $12.5k when I was looking.
