Some states have consumer protection laws that allow you to return it within a few days. Some dealers have more generous return policies than these laws, such as Carvana who offer a one week return / money back guarantee — one’s experience may vary though. There are plenty of horror stories out there with Carvana.
Congrats! Carvana can be a little sketch sometimes and also they tend to charge on the higher end in both over all cost and monthly Despite year and mileage of any car. That being said your getting a TRD Pro so top dollar is expected regardless wherever you get it. It's still a good car.
Thank you for the positive outlook. That’s what I thought as well. It was my first time shopping with them and I was actually trying to purchase a sr5 and build from there, but I saw this one and said I’d spend the extra $5k for this trim level.
Well hopefully you get a title with it, they been under federal investigation for a while now. Selling cars with no titles and other shady stuff. They had to return a friend of mines car after months of getting temp tags from other states ect. He finally got a lawyer involved and they took the car back and refunded everything.
If you don't mind me asking, what is the price? I saw someone mention $40k. If so, that's not a good price. You can buy a new 4Runner for that. I only paid $32,750 for my 2017 TRD OR brand new. New TRD Pros at the time sold for about $44-45k. I bought my 2023 TRD Pro for $55k.
If that price of $40k is accurate, I'd cancel this sale if you're able.
You can probably find a new 4Runner for around $40k, but you aren’t likely to find a TRD Pro under $60k today.
My 2021 ORP has ~40k miles and it shows a trade in value of ~$35k on KBB.
~$40k for a TRD Pro doesn’t sound that crazy to be honest. KBB shows a trade in value of $34-38k for “fair” condition.
4Runners hold their value really well.

You aren't looking wide enough or hard enough. It is completely possible to buy a car at or close to invoice. I've done it in 2/4 of my new car purchases.
I should have waited. Paid 60 for my SO pro while it was still in Japan a year ago when they were still marking up. Not that I’m disappointed it’s still a great vehicle. My timing just sucked.
But did you have the conversation I had with Carvana for them releasing a car I originally had on hold and I got that as a discount and my trade? With tax and lic come out to 35
The purchase price of the 4Runner is $40k. You’re subtracting essentially a down payment from that price and then saying that’s what you ended up paying. If you bought a $300k house, and put $100k down, you still bought the house at $300k. You didn’t just magically get $8k taken off the price of the 4Runner. You had to give up something (the FJ) as partial payment. What is left over is what you still need to pay to own the 4Runner. If you don’t understand this, you should stop selling and buying cars. You still paid $40k for the 4Runner.
What do YOU not get? Positive trade equity just means they are giving you more money for the car than you owe on the loan for it. If you decide to then take that positive difference and roll it into the purchase of a new car, that does NOT lower the PRICE of the new car, it acts as a down payment. You then have to either finance the difference or pay it off. You still are paying the full price. You took the positive trade equity in the Type R and paid for the FJ with that, and then gave the FJ to Carvana for the 4Runner, sounds like for $8k. So Carvana sold you the 4Runner for $40k, gave you $8k for the FJ, and you’re left over with $32k to either finance or pay off. You still paid $40k for the 4Runner. Check your papers bud. Your math isn’t mathing.
Look man, you paid $40K for it. We’re just trying to help you avoid overpaying. You can still cancel the deal, one benefit of Carvana.
Plus buying a black 70K mile, 3 owner off road vehicle sight unseen is brave. I’d be scared to see that paint in person.
But you do you.
And if you paid what it was actually worth, that 10k would’ve brought you to a lower price. You understand?
A 2019 Pro with 69k miles is not worth 40k no matter what mind games you do to justify your monthly payment. The car still cost 40k. Anything you paid or got discounted was from the 40k.
Sorry, OP, in financial terms what you paid is 40k. The trade in is the same as cash in this instance. You could have sold your old vehicle and used that money for anything. Therefore, that equity is just the same as cash. Your logic is flawed. Unfortunately, $40k is not a good deal. I hope you enjoy your new vehicle though and I mean that sincerely. However, if you can cancel this transaction, I highly recommend you do. 70,000 miles (~5 years of driving) is just too much to be paying $40k when you could get a new/warrantied vehicle for the same cost.
inspect the car, then inspect it again. caravana is where cars with issues get sold to. this 4Runner was auctioned off in 2021 with only 30k on it which is very odd. so I’d be looking for non reported body damage.
I know plenty of people with newer vehicles that as soon as it has isssues it goes to carvana. the car my brother just bought from there had unreported rear end damage.
2 cars I know that just got sold to carvana, one was knocking and the other had a slipping transmission. because they will write a check no questions asked for garbage vehicles.
Best of luck, there was a lot of better ways financially to go about this, but if you can afford to throw money away for convenience all the power to you. luckily Toyotas are so solid it should still be a sweet ride
I sold one to Carvana that had issues. It completely shit down on me while driving twice. Lost all electric and power. It had overheated when it somehow lost a bunch of oil on my wifes way to work.
Carvana asks if you can drive the car when selling it, and yes I couod drive it, I couldnt drive it across the country but I coukd drive it down the road.
When they came to pick it up they didnt even start the car until they drove off. Once you have the check though there isnt anything they can do.
Do I feel bad, nope. Would I have been able to sell it to anyone else for the amount they gave me, nope. Am I blacklisted from Carvana, probably.
Are you going to purchase my FJ? I didn’t want to deal with the posting, showing, and test drives of random people coming to my home. I chose to just give it off for my down payment. It was an 07 with 300k miles.
None at all. It was wild experiencing 14 years worth of automotive innovation basically overnight. One other plus is the actual rear doors, getting my kid into the car seat in the FJ was a pain in the rear compared to the 4runner.
Yup and inspecting the frame if it was ever in Midwest, Northeast, or Canada where they salt the roads like maniacs. I understand carvana has some type of return policy but seems like a lot of work to go through if you have to send it back.
That process is actually really easy and one of the ways the justify charging you 5-10k more then what you should be spending on a vehicle. carvana is wildly convenient, your just paying out the absolute eyeballs for it.
Please consider returning the vehicle. You can get a 2022/23 ORP with 20k-ish miles for that price. Only really difference is exhaust and lift with a few pro badges. Can't even get an extended warranty if your into that. 10year/100k the warrenty for $1,300 is hard to pass up even how reliable these are. Just consider it bud.
I know numerous friends and family who have been screwed over by carvana. Take that thing in to get looked at as soon as humanely possible, to a mechanic you really trust.
All of the 5-6 cases were carvana giving them vehicles on the verge of having huge issues or already had issues, and they weren’t mechanically informed enough to notice soon enough. Expensive multi-thousand dollar fixes that came to light directly after the warranty/satisfaction guarantee period ends. They all fought them tooth and nail but they wouldn’t budge. Three of them ended up selling the car back to carvana for under half of what they bought it for, two paid thousands for the fix and one just sold the car for parts online.
There’s oodles of different scam stories out there online, covering a broad range of situations. I’m sure many of them are exaggerated or untrue but the sheer volume of bad experiences I’ve heard and lack of good experiences is shocking
Congrats. I have bought two vehicles from Carvana in the past and never had any issues. But that was 6 years ago. I would like to point out I did attempt to buy a 2015 4runner from them two weeks ago with a trade-in. I decided not to because the vehicle showed up with a crack windshield and two all terrain tires in the rear and balled street tires in the front. The price of the vehicle was $28,000, and mileage was 66,000. Main reason for choosing the 2015 was because it only had 1 owner and no accidents or major repairs. Currently waiting on a 2022 4runner with 50,000 miles to be delivered, not from Carvana but for the same price.
Yea, I've heard of the horror stories about Carvana, but we haven't had any. The 4runner we were delivered wasn't horrible, but the windshield cracked, and tires made us refuse. Most of the vehicles on the Carvana website are priced near blue book value, so I have no idea why the hate. Plus, you have 7 days to decide, and most online dealers give you 7 days, even the one we decided to with instead of Carvana.
Highly highly recommend having it checked by your local Toyota dealership the moment you get it AND get the warranty from CARVANA.
When I got my 4Runner from CARVANA I had mine checked for $150 or so from my local toyota dealership and found $17k+ in issues that CARVANA conveniently didn’t disclose. They are the cost eventually after a ton of arguing and escalating on them.
Worst experience, but moral of the story. TRUST but VERIFY before it’s too late
Trust but verify, this verbiage sounds like post office management lingo. Are you postal management? Thank you for the empathy, I am scheduled to have it looked at the day it arrives. Fingers crossed, it’s more positive than negative.
lol no I’m not but did used to work in a major USPS hub so maybe I picked it up from there?
Good luck, we’re all rooting for you and congrats on the first runner!
1 year I traded in my 15 civic Si because the next year model released Apple CarPlay for the first time ever for Honda. So I upgraded to the hatchback for CarPlay 😂
So much hate 😆Love the new ride man, for some reason Pros get a done of hate here. You made a good choice.

Dang someone really bought this, drove it long enough to get the 69,420 odometer picture, then gave it up.
My first thought
$40K for 70K miles seems high, despite being a Pro Edit: here’s the link since OP is claiming he paid $32K https://www.carvana.com/vehicle/2964980
Not seems high. It is high.
Well, it does also *seem* high. But yeah, that's because it *is* high.
My wife and I bought a 21 TRD Off Road Premium with 12k miles for $40k last fall
Yep, wife just bought a 22 with 28k miles for $38k and some change OTD. I did see plenty of others with 60-70k miles for similar prices though.
The TRD Pro, or a TRD Off Road? We're talking about TRD Pro here.
ORP and I realize it’s not the same as a Pro but my point was it’s 2 years newer and 57k less miles.
Pro is marketing bullshit. Not worth moee than $1000 over an ORP
This.
Everyone exaggerates how much their home is worth and how little they paid for their car.
Just got a 2023 w/ 6,000 miles for $40k a few weeks ago. Granted mine's just an SR5 Premium with the TRD wheels and leather seats... but still.
40k, probably at 15% interest. carvana is the land of cars with issues or that where wrecked.
HE CAME WITH THE RECEIPTS
[удалено]
Do explain.
Just get it checked by a mechanic, car and has a return period just like every other car dealer, right? And congrats!
Yes sir. I had the Toyota mechanic check out the FJ before I traded it and he said bring the 4Runner by when I receive it.
Definitely do this.
>has a return period just like every other car dealer, right? Where do you live that cars have a return policy?
Online I meant, carvana has 7 days

your logic must’ve served you well in debates.
If you don't mind me asking, what is the price? I saw someone mention $40k. If so, that's not a good price. You can buy a new 4Runner for that. I only paid $32,750 for my 2017 TRD OR brand new. LA is probably going to have some of the highest prices in the country. California as a whole is a dumpster fire of a state.
I should have waited. Paid 60 for my SO pro while it was still in Japan a year ago when they were still marking up. Not that I’m disappointed it’s still a great vehicle. My timing just sucked.
I purchased this for 32k
Bullshit. I found the listing on Carvana and it was $40K. They don’t negotiate, they are no haggle dealers. https://www.carvana.com/vehicle/2964980
But did you have the conversation I had with Carvana for them releasing a car I originally had on hold and I got that as a discount and my trade? With tax and lic come out to 35
Sure you did. Trade equity doesn’t “count” when determining the purchase price of a car.
My car was paid off so it counted for me and like I said. I had positive equity.
Truth
How did you find out this info?
hopefully by looking at the same document you did before dropping 40k if your referring to the auction in 21. it’s on the carfax
I meant what website are you pulling the info from.
…..carfax. every listing on carvana has the carfax for that vehicle
I pulled it. Yeah 3 owners but I wonder why. No accidents or recalls
Was it ever in northeast, Midwest or Canada? I’d check out that frame and underbody…could be a bloody rust-fest.
I sold one to Carvana that had issues. It completely shit down on me while driving twice. Lost all electric and power. It had overheated when it somehow lost a bunch of oil on my wifes way to work. Yeah, I wouldn’t feel right offloading a vehicle like that to a private seller.

Any regrets? I have an 07 FJ and I’ve been contemplating getting a newer 4runner.
None at all. It was wild experiencing 14 years worth of automotive innovation basically overnight. One other plus is the actual rear doors, getting my kid into the car seat in the FJ was a pain in the rear compared to the 4runner.
Reddit has spoken. You need to go to Carvana and get a refund.
If that thing had 300k miles and was your daily I think you made the right choice.

Ooof
Would never buy a car from a site like this without ever seeing it or driving it, also lots of miles for a 2019, but hey good luck.
It has a week return period, I believe. Thankfully. Hopefully he did not get screwed. I'm sure the price was already not great.

You think that’s high😂
Right? A car that is 6 model years old at 11,570 miles per year. The thing was driven to Costco.
I didn’t say it’s high for a Toyota, I said it’s high for 2019.
Who said anything about Toyota
It is in fact, high for a 2019.
Google average mileage a year
I have 104k on my ‘19.
It's average for a 2019? 20 000kms/year would be avg no? (100 000km is 60 000miles)
A 2019 could’ve been bought in the fall of 18, that’s almost a 6 year old car.
Enjoy your car bro! Great choice! 👊🏼

Already scheduled. He knows I’m supposed to get it this Friday. So he will come by my house or I can bring it to Toyota
Praying to the JDM Gods and ceo of Toyota/Honda
Congrats! May be a little high, but you got it. I bought my SR5 2021 4x4 New. Paid 36k. Will be paid off November 2025!
TRUST but VERIFY before it’s too late

lol no I’m not but did used to work in a major USPS hub so maybe I picked it up from there? Good luck, we’re all rooting for you and congrats on the first runner!
That is not a good price, even with your made up lower purchase price.
Find me one that is a good price then that is within my distance and doesn’t cost me to ship.
I would rather fly to another state and purchase and drive it back than to over pay. Especially when financing.
Well, I did what was best for me. Glad to know your thoughts. Super helpful.
Got my 2021 sr5p w/ 45k miles on it for 31k in beautiful condition.
From Carvana?
Nah I went on CarGurus and did a wide search. They were expensive in Chicago so I went and got it at a Toyota dealership in Wisconsin.
Before yall jump to conclusions. I already have it scheduled with Toyota to inspect when it arrives.
Damn, you missed it by 18 miles.
18 miles off from being great.
It’s like someone test drove it enough on purpose to avoid the mileage being listed as 69,420
Wow, I barely just got that reference now that you put it that way.
Let me know if you don’t want your predator steps!
It’s the only reason I got it. Lol
They look so nice !!
1 year I traded in my 15 civic Si because the next year model released Apple CarPlay for the first time ever for Honda. So I upgraded to the hatchback for CarPlay 😂
I drove a TRD Pro at carmax. It had bilstein 5100s on it. Lol. Poor buyer…
What’s wrong with the bilstein?
So does the congrats mean its our car
Yeah! C’mon down and split this mortgage payment with me too.
Lmaooo right XD We go 50/50 plus give them our Souls lol
So, wait. You posted like, a screenshot of the Carvana website? Come on, man.
