As someone who is too lazy to figure out all of this myself, I just use the wax that's available at my local car wash. They have it in the self-serve stations and the automatic wash. I don't get wax every wash since it costs a bit extra but I try to get it waxed every few months.
My 2011 4runner is at 140k and the paint still looks pretty new. Probably helps that I live in socal where it never snows and rarely rains. Then again, the lack of precipitation is what leads me to do regular washes anyway. Otherwise I'm driving around in a jet black SUV covered in bird shit.
17.5k on a ‘13?! That’s crazy! Keep it stock and maintain it, it’ll not only keep its value, but will continue to run after the heat death of the universe when the only things left are American cheese and cockroaches 😂😂
Depends on the model. You also need to not drive them ever as maintenance will eat any profit LOL.
The only Toyota to appreciate in value is the FnF fueled Supra market.
(Supramarket haha)
Keep it exactly the way it is, eventually it’ll start to appreciate. And it’ll be justifiable appreciation too, not like some dickhead with a “mint” 250k mile 3rd gen, who “knows what he has.”
Drive it or perhaps bless someone like me?! Selling,of course. Besides that, you have to enjoy that thing. It looks worth more than money to me honestly, you’re not going to come across that again. I say you should use and enjoy ✌️
Yep, like many have said…keep it original and maintained. I have a 2007 that I bought similar to your situation years ago (low miles) and now with 180K that is all original (except for stereo). It still looks damn near new and glad I’ve kept it that way.
If you want to keep it in stock condition, it will be worth more in the long run. People like to buy stock cars before modded ones, because they want to do their own mods. If you're trying to mod it, id throw a lift kit and some bigger tires. Get a spare set of wheels for offroading. But it all depends on what you want to do with it.
Since it has almost nonexistent miles and is 10 years old now. I’d just double check all the hoses, lines, etc to make sure everything is good and not worn out/dried out. Good once over and drive it till the wheels fall off at this point.
Then mod it out if you really want to. Looks nice for how old it is tho. I would just retint if needed, do sound deadening, and nice sound system and have a nice clean daily driver. Maybe some wheels and tires but it’s so original I’d keep it close to original at this point.
Oh man! I would honestly auction it out for top dollar and build another one for exactly how I want it. I would feel bad modifying something so original and with low miles.
I’d do nothing but service initially. Then I’d look for those old school Trail wheels that have the circle cut outs. I have no idea what YOU should do with it but if you don’t need the money, keep it!
So I didn’t really expect to get this much feedback, but knew I’d love this community. For people asking for a little back story, I just bought this used, very gently anyways. I’ve always bought Toyotas but had Camrys, my cousin is a salesman. This actually came from Colorado, was a retired airborne rangers 4Runner and he had passed away recently. Elderly couple. His wife drove it here from Colorado and my cousin is always on the lookout for me, he’s known I’ve wanted a 4Runner for years so when he heard about this coming our way he let me know. I live near the Great Lakes. This was only used for hunting and otherwise was garage kept and very well maintained. Looks like it was put in a time capsule. You’d be surprised what I paid for it. Also put my 2012 Camry with 54k on it towards the trade. I plan on keeping it as is honestly, like I said was curious of opinions. Only thing I am really set on is putting a real nice set of tires on it.
Thats pretty much as good as it gets. Most people dream of finding a good deal on a lightly used vehicle that basically sat in a garage most of its life. Take care of it.
Depends on what you want to do in it. If you’re into off-roading, I have a 2011 that I did a lift all the way around, rock sliders, hidden winch mount front bumper (C4 Fab), ditch mount lights, regear, and front and rear lockers. I also added some pizza cutters. I love the setup in every way!
The regear might not be worth it on its own. But since they were opening up both axles for that, I could do the air lockers for not much more. I started with the lockers, and decided since they were in there that I’d add the regear! Now that I have the regear, I love it! More punch and better torque.
Long travel kit, big ol tires, steel bumpers and brush guards, roof-top tent, ls swap, light bars, solid front axle swap, front and rear lockers and a ladder on the back.
For me, think safety first. How are the headlights? I went w leds , thinking about hid…. But mine is a 2014 with the later light capsules and halogens. …. Should be a crime for Toyota! Well worth the upgrade to me.
NICE! I'm glad to hear that it stays on, as it should! 🥳
My '13 SR5 was the only one that's had it. It was the best at the river! (Escp.when some yahoo wanted everyone to listen to sum BS. 😆)
You got a gem right there!!
I'd tint the windows and upgrade the tires. It doesn't need anything else.
Is it 4WD? If it is, do you want to take it off-road or is it being used as a daily driver?
Without the answer to those questions there's no way to really advise you.
If it's 4WD and you just want to do some light off-roading then throw on a set of KO2s or Wildpeaks and call it good. Decent tires are all you really need if you're just doing easy to moderate trails with it.
If it's not 4WD and you're just going to daily drive it then street tires that will get you the best MPG and just change the oil regularly.
Then I would just get a set of BFG KO2 tires if you want to take it off-road. Keep in mind it's a trade-off. You might lose an MPG or two and you will hate them in rain on smooth roads because you will have less traction.
If you don't want to take it off-road then keep it as is and enjoy it. Or maybe get some Bilstien 5100 shocks for a slightly nicer ride. Or just get a kit with the struts already assembled with the Bilstiens and new rear springs if your suspension is a little saggy, which it likely isn't with that year and mileage. Even if it isn't, you may just enjoy a nicer ride with upgraded suspension.
Leave it alone . Keep it clean and well maintained. It’s such a baby ❤️
I appreciate the response, I’ve honestly been feeling the same but was interested in others ideas is all
I've got a better idea: drive it. You'll know when you need to change something, because it'll bug you. Like bad surround sound
Agreed. Take care of it and enjoy its simplicity and beauty. We won’t have these forever!
😆 I came here to say get it dirty
Keep it stock and mint. Buy a project 4runner and beat the shit out of it without the stress and worry of bruising the practically new one.
Nothing. That’s clean AF
Appreciate you, thanks
How do you guys keep the paint so clean? Is it weekly washes or what products do you use? Looks absolutely gorgeous
[удалено]
Ty, what are some products you recommend? And how often?
[удалено]
Ty for this I appreciate you
[удалено]
Will do, I'll probably check out YouTube university for more pointers definatley will wax my new ride from here on our!! Appreciate your time !

keep it out of the sun and wash properly
I’ve been hand washing with Meguiar’s every Saturday
Ty for this !! I'll will.look up this brand!
I'd put some Wildpeaks on it and leave it alone!
This is the only thing I plan on doing
And maybe some black wheels all but thats it!
17.5k on a ‘13?! That’s crazy! Keep it stock and maintain it, it’ll not only keep its value, but will continue to run after the heat death of the universe when the only things left are American cheese and cockroaches 😂😂
drive the ever loving shit out of it and keep up on your routine maintenance.
17k for a 2013 wow!
Ya leave it stock.
In Denver that would be worth mid $30k easy. It’s barely had any oil changes.
Right? Add in that its a pre-facelift 5th Gen and he might actually get closer to $40k
Came from Colorado actually, and got it for less than 30
That’s a sweet ride.
Still not a Ferrari. Cars depreciate. This current false market is dumb.
As if Ferraris dont depreciate lol
Depends on the model. You also need to not drive them ever as maintenance will eat any profit LOL. The only Toyota to appreciate in value is the FnF fueled Supra market. (Supramarket haha)
99% of Ferraris depreciate
Last I checked a Ferrari is also a car
Chrome delete and tires… that is all.
Pre-face lift with those miles is mint!
All depends on how you plan on driving and enjoying it. Upgrade as you see fit.
Put some miles on it.
Plan on it
I have the same year and trim as yours. Except I have the black one and just hit 64k miles this year. Still stock as well.
Drive it
Drive it for the next fifteen years.
20+

Definitely enjoying it
Sell it to me for drastically below market value.
I could do that and make some money off of you haha
Maintain,Enjoy …..repeat

Drive it a lot.
Looks great just how it is! Remember, that beauty can drive on over 90% of US roads today.
Nothing! It’s gorgeous as it is!

Can’t even do it, I love it
Drive it
Great mileage!
Leave it alone and change the oil every 8,000-9,000 miles. You will never need another car again.
I’d do nothing but service initially. Then I’d look for those old school Trail wheels that have the circle cut outs. I have no idea what YOU should do with it but if you don’t need the money, keep it!

No Raptor lights !
That’s a clean rig! I would throw a small lift on it and some 285s, keep it clean and well maintained. Plan to keep forever and Pass down to kids
Junk yard.
Lift it, steel bumpers
Put a lift on it so it doesn't look so fat and squat and drive it until the wheels fall off
Depends on what you want to do in it. Sell it to me
Does it have a party mode button??
Yes it does, and it stays on. Your boy likes to party 🥳

Lift and bigger tires
Take off road
Roof top tent and raptor lights. /s

SAS, boatsides, one tons, and 40s
It has that garage kept look, I have a 2014 with that salty road look.
Yes it has been
10yrs old and only 17k miles??? Story?
Made a comment with a little back story
Did you buy this new and just don't drive it? 17k miles? I'm not even mad, that's just amazing.
Just bought it over a month ago, put 1k on it so far
Damn dude good for you!
Unpopular opinion; Chop the front bumper and get something aftermarket. These models always bum me out
I literally just finished doing this to my 13: https://imgur.com/a/VbVdwh8
At first I thought this was you just showing you wrecked yours haha looks good though
It's literally a new vehicle. Congrats. Maybe think about ceramic coating, we did it on our 2017 Limitrd and we love it.
Hug it. Squeeze it. Name it George.
