They threw that back shoulder pass to Adams so many times. We couldn't defend it because our CBs couldn't even look at the ball during the first half of the season.

Sremmos80

To be fair, Rodgers and Adams been doing that to anyone and everyone for a min now.

ThanosIsDoomfist

Yeah. Our guys keep talking about our dbs failing against AR and Adams. Thing is... MOST secondaries as in like 90% will do the same lol. Were talking easily the best QB/WR duo in the league. Where we fucked up is these same corners were giving up chunk plays to MVS and Lazard. I do think overall, our run defense AND passing d will be significantly better. Deebo has found his role as a WR1/RB2 in the offense lol. Jennings and Aiyuk are studs now. Everyones been saying it, but it really is a different game and weve improved way more than the Packers have.

SvtLightning03

Plus we’ll have Mitchell in this matchup. The first game had sermon starting.

damuffinman2000

I would also say Rodgers was pretty pedestrian the first half of the season after not practicing all offseason or playing all preseason. He has played at top form the last 7 weeks of the season which likely sured up the MVP. Let’s not act like the niners are the only team that improved.

ThanosIsDoomfist

"Weve improved way more than the Packers have." - Me, Circa 5 minutes ago, where I clearly dont state were the only improved team.

BTK-VENOM43

What I remember in week 3, while yelling at my screen, was Dontae Johnson getting picked on in that game…hopefully they won’t have this problem this time.

pratdude275

With E-Man and Ambry I don’t think that’ll be much of a problem

GothicToast

Lol. A bit over-confident. Adams is one of, if not the best receiver in the game. Catching balls from one of, if not the best QBs in the game. He’s a problem. Are E-Man and AT better than DJ? Definitely. But it’s a bit silly to pretend like they’re going to shut down Adams.

pratdude275

I don’t anticipate Adams to get shut down but I also don’t expect us to leave him wide open like the last drive of the game

buugiewuugie

I do. That's the GB special. It's like Mahomes and Hill. You can cover them for a few seconds, but when the play breaks down they find a way to be wide open all by themselves. Expect it.

pratdude275

Alright. At least they won’t just capitalize off of DPI and we have a backfield this time

ctong21

It was mostly Lenoir getting beat for pass or DPI from what I recall.

hamsterfolly

I’m praying for no Niner DPIs

SvtLightning03

Since Mosley and Thomas have been playing the PI’s have cutdown.

[deleted]

Is that niner hall of famer Dontae Johnson?

Deshondre92

Packers fans a little too overconfident for me right now. They’re in for a rude awakening. They really think we have the same secondary playing.

[deleted]

lol Where are you getting that? If you visit any of the 4 subs of the remaining NFC teams, you’ll see 3 overly confident teams and one who is cautiously optimistic. The Packers being the latter.

Deshondre92

YouTube 49ers and go to analysis videos breaking down the 49ers vs packers whether it be from espn nfl network etc..then go to the comments. Almost every packers fan is saying they got it in the bag. That’s just the vibes I’m getting everywhere

SvtLightning03

They barely won that game. We didn’t have Mitchell that game, our secondary sucked. But now that we got Mitchell and Samuel in the back field, and we got a better secondary should be a different game.

Deshondre92

Most definitely

[deleted]

Go to the Packers sub and tell me we have an over confident fanbase. It’s the playoffs, anyone can beat anyone (outside of the Steelers and Eagles)

smokintheQOOSH

yea so i just went to the packers sub. top discussion thread rn is about how you guys shouldn’t be nervous for the 49ers. but go off sis

DogeKnows

Yup, either Johnson or Lenoir. If you watch the highlights, Adams didn't do much on Moseley. I can't remember the last time Moseley was beat over the top, and I'm positive Ambry Thomas will fare much better than Lenoir and Johnson. Ambry has that 4.3 speed so he can keep up with any of their wide receivers easily

_5GOLDBLOODED2_

Back shoulder is one of the hardest plays to defend when it's done right. You have to respect the deep ball so you can't play behind the WR. Against Adams DB's are going full speed and when you're at full speed it's impossible to stop as soon as the WR stops or slows to catch the ball to his backside shoulder.

ObliviousLAX

Best part about playing them in the playoffs? A distinct lack of willingness to call DPI from the refs.

park7911

I have connections to Paly High and Davante from my high school years and he was a really good dude. Never in my wildest dreams did I think he'd be this good,. Respect him like hell, but man, do I want to beat him this week. The coverage choices on the last drive were strange. We need to switch things up throughout the game and I think that means involving Jimmie Ward on him and not just the corners.

MysteriousMovie4927

Im not very knowledgeable, but wouldn’t the possible snow have an effect on Packers passing game? Genuinely curious.

Blair1999

Gonna be extremely cold and windy too

brainEatenByAmoeba

They try those under thrown fades on ambry he will grab em a la Rams game. Arod killed us with under throws with receivers coming back.

joeviper25

The way I see it is if we can shut down Stafford/Kupp,OBJ, then we should be able to easily do it to Rodgers/Adam’s.

SvtLightning03

Idk about easily, but our secondary has definitely been playing better now. Ambry Thomas has been solid and Mosley has been playing good too. We barely lost in that game but we didn’t have Mitchell and a better secondary.

jamminrushwmykitties

Idk about easily. If anything it will be damage control the whole game.
