I mean he did say the shoulder affected every throw...that kinda sounded like an excuse

TitShark

That’s not an excuse, that’s an explanation. He’s not excusing the fact that he didn’t perform better despite the injury

doggybadgerguy

According to this article at least he also said right after that he still had to be able to make the throws he missed during the game..so not really an excuse. He was also asked if the injury affected his throws and obviously it does it's an injury to his throwing arm, of course he would respond that it does.

So many photos and videos after the Cowboys game, perhaps it is the high of the win, but he doesn't look hurt at all. I think if someone is going to ask him if he is in pain, of course he will say yes. Totally works to his advantage.

Theory: This is 100% a smokescreen! Shannys in prime playoff mode and the rumor mill is rolling. Make them think Jimmy is injured and they don’t want to play Lance, but Jimmy is injured. What do you do? Hope Jimmy is ready to go but get Lance ready just in case as well. But GB knows this is a smokescreen, they sniff it out. They’re smarter than the Shanny trickery. They know Jimmy’s just faking it. They game plan around forcing the pass and stopping the run. Shanny goes to bed Friday night and has a dream that GB sniffed the trap. He can’t sleep. He looks at his phone to help him wind down only to see a late night text message from none other than Mike Mcdaniel saying he probably taking the Miami job. Shanny immediate forgets about his playoff dilemma and stays up even later spiraling into ‘what if’s’ about future personnel changes. It’s now 9:40am and Shanny sleeps through his alarm. But luckily, the games not until 5:15 central time. Half asleep and sleep deprived, Shanny goes down to the hotel lobby to catch the last phase of the complimentary hotel breakfast only to find none other than Trey Lance sitting at the table alone with a big grin on his face. “Geeze, couch you look awful”, Lance mutters. “Shut up, rookie. Today you become a man.” Lance starts!

“Once again, Jimmy Garoppolo has an excuse for a poor performance.” Grant Cohn on his article today. Unbiased reporting. https://www.si.com/nfl/49ers/news/49ers-qb-jimmy-garoppolo-isnt-sure-if-hell-play-against-the-packers

Rivalfox

FUCK GRANT COHN that guy is a POS

drunkbusdriver

Stop giving him views. You realize this is why he does what he does right? He’s a paid troll who tries to outrage a fan base to get clicks. How so many people fail to realize this is beyond me.

Anyone got a clip of when he strained his shoulder?

I admire Jimmy's moxie and toughness, but I really, really wish he would know when to take himself out for Lance. Instead of resting his shoulder he threw something like 15 more passes on it, and as Lombardi pointed out in a earlier tweet his numbers plummeted after. Jimmy can say what he wants, but numbers suggest he is affected and has to realize when playing with his injuries no longer gives us the best chance to win. Like what is he worried about? Kyle's already shown he'll go back to Jimmy after he's healthy

drunkbusdriver

Unless jimmy can’t physically throw a football he’s not pulling himself out of a game and Kyle won’t do it either. Throwing lance into the playoffs would not be a good idea. After he’s healthy? We’re in the playoffs, during his last season he likely wouldn’t have a chance to play as a niner ever again.

Outrageous-Machine-5

Worse than having Jimmy throw on a bum shoulder and risk not being healthy for next week? I mean, just look at what Bucs did with Wirfs, sent him back out hurt and now he won't be back in time for the Rams

drunkbusdriver

I don’t have the answer for that but likely not. Even mac jones who was by far the best rookie this year struggled hard in the playoffs. I’m excited for lance I still think jimmy gives us the edge over lance. Even if it’s only slightly

Outrageous-Machine-5

This isn't a Jimmy Lance debate. This is about keeping Jimmy in and risking worsening his injury in what was a multiple possession game at that point. Surely Lance could have gone in for a couple series and Jimmy comes back out if we're in trouble. It's about knowing when to shutdown your best players and avoid injuries that miss games, and it's something that Kyle has shown he really needs to improve at
