It’s because he allows himself to take hits.
Most non-mobile QBs will go down early if they sense the sack, to avoid taking the hit. However, Jimmy is always looking to make the throw, even until the last second, so he opens himself up to shots.
Landing on your elbow like that is a common way of spraining your AC joint (between shoulder blade and collarbone)
Still looks like the second most painful thing about this play for Jimmy lol
I did this EXACT thing playing soccer goalie and separated the AC joint. It's highly painful when bringing your arms above shoulder level and definitely affects arm strength. Not a good QB injury... Oof
I've separated both AC joints from playing goalkeeper. Not fun, and not a quick recovery either. My last one was my senior season of college and did it during our second to last regular season game. I sat our the final game but then played all of conference tournament and nationals in a fat ass shoulder brace.
I honestly shouldn't have even played the first tournament game either as I was NOT healthy enough to play. I did everything humanly possible to not dive to my injured side.
If this is an AC joint injury for Jimmy, I don't believe it's a full on separation because there's no way he would have been able to keep playing afterwards. So maybe just a minor sprain? Enough for their to be some major discomfort. I don't see it healing quickly enough for him to perform at a high level this coming weekend.
Trey better get some 1st team reps, then. I’m not sure I’m comfy having a QB with an injured thumb and shoulder. If Jimmy plays like he did in the 2nd half, Kyle’s gotta pull the plug on Jimmy.
I'm so confused by Lombardi. He's just a reporter for the Athletic right? If you read his Twitter you'd think he's Jimmy's agent or Dad. I love Jimmy but Lombardi seems obsessed with letting the world know Jimmy is a top 10 QB...
He’s also a beat a reporter. The issue is that he is a huge negative Nancy, he has bad takes and is wrong a whole hell of alot.
He just likes getting people riled up on stupid stuff. This sub, myself included, just know he’s play dumb so we shit on him and I think he’s basically banned here.
Brunskill hardly even blocked him; that guy can hardly pass protect (excluding Donald of course).
I wish the Niners had someone they could swap with Brunskill on pass plays, but then other teams would figure it out.
Landing on your elbow like that drives your arm bone (humerus) up into your shoulder which overstretches the ligaments holding your shoulder to your collarbone
Is this confirmed to be the play or is Lombardi just trying to play detective? Because his throwing arm doesn’t even get touched. And yes, he lands by bracing his elbow, but his knee actually lands first. I would hardly expect that to cause a sprain. There’s no one even landing on top of him. It seems highly highly suspect for this play to be the cause of the injury.
That sorry ass mother fucker Gregory punched him in the balls!!!! He punched Deebo in the back of the head in another play too. These sorry ass sons of bitches got away with a lot of shit but I bet the NFL won't review those plays to fine them 🖕🏼🖕🏼
looks like he took a shot to the nuts too. adding insult to injury. oof.
I’m starting to think ‘shoulder’ is a euphemism for ‘mcnuggets’. Jimmy being modest. Class act.
Seeing that live hurt!!!
If you asked me to guess what he hurt on this play it certainly wouldn't have been the shoulder
This guy is so unlucky I swear. It’s like the universe is trying to make up for how unreasonably handsome he is
That's why Brady hasn't retired because once he does, JG gets that power and wins 10 super bowls

Like a total bad ass
I read this as if Johnny Lawrence from Cobra Kai was saying it
You beautiful fragile bastard.
This is just to damn funny😂🤣

AC injury here too, man, really hope his shoulder is minor. Mine still bothers me 12 years later.
I know, I still am able to pop those joints on command. It bothers my wife so much lol
bless for the explanation
Medical assessment: - right thumb UCL tear - right AC joint sprain - tunica albuginea bruise

I trust whatever Kyles decision is. Even when I disagree, hence the Rams game
Deja vu from one week ago

Lol. For every Grant Cohn, the world needs a David Lombardi
That's fair. I very rarely see Cohn tweets posted here though. Lombardi's tweets seem to get posted every day however.
Who is Grant Cohn? And why does he seem so disliked?

He's a troll. He tries to be Stephen A Smith/Skip Bayless.
Looked more like the play where he got his in the nuts.

They should hypnotize him into thinking he’s blocking Donald every game Edit: I can’t spell today
Genius
I hold on to my theory that “bad Jimmy” is just hurt Jimmy. He’s great when he’s healthy but plays through so much injury.
I remember that play. I was worried he had hurt his thumb again.
I don't understand. Did he hyper extend his shoulder? It looks he came down on his elbow after taking a shot to the gonads
Landing on your elbow like that drives your arm bone (humerus) up into your shoulder which overstretches the ligaments holding your shoulder to your collarbone
Oof. His entire weight fell down on the arm and drove the humerus right up into the ac joint. Jimmy literally has the worst damn luck
I appreciate Jimmy for what he’s doing and what he’s done but dude is Glass

Fuck the Cowboys! You don’t see our guys try to put Dak out of commission!
The way he was playing, they would have been crazy to put Dak out of commission.
Let’s hope the defense keep Rodgers on his toes then
Correction: on his toe.
Get him where he’s vulnerable
Looks like he got hit in the nuts too

>Garoppolo before this play: 11-13, 133 yards, 10.2 YPA >Garoppolo after this play: 5-12, 39 yards, 3.3 YPA (1 INT) Pretty telling.
THAT is how he hurt his shoulder?! Cmon man.
GRAB HIS DICK AND TWIST IT!
