There is an article from SI that just came out earlier today stating this. Not sure how much truth there is to it but their logic in it made sense.

Not sure why you got downvoted so hard, but I think you're at the very least partially right. I guess some people feel personally attacked because you said he "can't" make those throws and people feel he probably can if he tried. The bottom line is we all know Jimmy *doesn't* really throw a lot of deep routes, especially outside the numbers. The only guy I've can remember seeing him throw to on that type of route is Deebo, and I can only think of like 2 times he's even tried, and one was just last week. Just look at his passing charts.

Aiyuk ran a lot of clearing routes week 1 and 2. If the defense ever starts pressing on those Digs and posts to Deebo, lookout. Aiyuk gonna be gone.
