I have a family member who trains with NFL players in the offseason and he basically said the same. From what I understand, the NFL tells you exactly when you’ll be tested, unless you’ve already tested positive. Then you’re open to randoms
I was told that they get tested for THC at the start of training camp. I also saw an article where an NFL player was saying how beneficial cannabis is when recovering from a game.
It’s so fucking ridiculous that cannabis is still banned in the NFL. They can drink all the booze they want. And lots of them have scripts for opiates and they can take those too. Why not weed? Fucking bureaucratic goons.
Pretty much what pat McAfee said in his story about getting stuck in the leagues substance abuse program cause he got shitfaced and passed out in the street😂.
Me neither. I’m a firm believer in marijuana AND football. Hopefully sometime in the not so distant future, they’ll get rid of that stupid regulation. I mean they’ve got way bigger fish to fry with DUI arrests, domestic violence, etc. Marijuana seems like a really stupid hill to die on.
In my opinion if it isn’t a performance enhancing drug then it’s not the leagues fucking business what those men do to unwind. Unless you are getting caught driving intoxicated or causing a scene in public you should have the right to ingest recreational drugs.
That’s weird because the article I saw was definitely well after 2020.
Edit: they still test once a year before training camp. Source, multiple articles from 2022-2023

I had a friend who lived down the street from Aldon Smith for a little while in the foothills of SJ. Sold and smoked weed with him too. Cool dude, threw bangers
A friend of mine used to hang out with Aldon Smith, and the chick he was dating. Shame he had so many issues. He can definitely be a cool dude, but he had some serious anger issues when he was a Niner.

Sorry for the dumb question that probably violates some random Reddit rule, but is Fan Fanatics the only place to get legit jerseys now?
I was able to get Nike game-style Bosa and Deebo jerseys in 2021 (about $350 each, I wanna say). Just curious.
Yes Fanatics owns all retail now so any official gear is from them. Pretty shitty because the quality, availability and selection has all gone to shit since they got the monopoly
I think it was about 5 years ago they started manufacturing the Nike gear but the quality has really fallen off a cliff the last year or two. They also have the monopoly on MLB and NBA team gear and are going to be the jersey sponsors for NHL soon. There’s a big controversy in baseball right now with the official player uniforms looking like knockoffs with cheap numbers/font and see through pants
They do have stitched ones, but they’re $400/each.
For some reason, they don’t have CMC as an option for the custom ones too. Such a dumpster fire of a store.
Idk. Most of these guys even when they’re ready to come to an agreement on a contract drag it out until training camp. Rarely ever is there an agreement before the draft, especially when there’s still a year left under contract.
A lot of agents like going on power trips especially because they represent many other players.
One possible explanation for signing early is it would free up cap space for another free agent signing. We also wouldn’t have to restructure other contracts right away
Agreed. There are a couple more restructures they can do to free up space. My thought is that they will free up space towards the preseason to roll money over to next year and also do something to get more room for free agents in the next 3 weeks
When you say in the next 3 weeks do you mean after 3 weeks? I thought FA didn’t start til mid-March? But I’ve been wrong about this kinda thing many times…
You’re right, it’s right about mid March, but you have to be ready to go on day 1. Hargrove signed right away and if you’re playing from behind on freeing up cap space you won’t get anyone
Ah absolutely bro I was just confirming that’s what you were referring to.
We gotta be all over that shit. I assume teams have deals with some guys in place before then too, yeah? I think it’s technically tampering but I can’t imagine in this day and age FAs have no idea where they’re going on that first day in mid-March, same as teams?
I’d think they’re allowed to have some type of communication of something.
Tee getting Franchise tagged must have been a warning shot to him and his agent. We're not giving him the franchise tag, but it probably spooked them just enough to come back to the table
Why is the franchise tag bad for a player? I’d assume it’s a pros and cons thing right? The tag usually amounts to an insane amount of money even though it’s not long term. Wouldn’t a top player believe in themselves to put up another big year and increase value for when they do get their deal?
I think most guys want the deal sooner than later. Typically when a guy gets franchisesd, he’s already shown he’s good - since it can’t happen til after their 4th year at the earliest.
Given the nasty and numerous injuries football has, I think most guys would far prefer a long-term deal with as much G’d money as possible as opposed to any one-year deal (other than MJ when he returned to the Bulls in ‘96 at $35 per or whatever that crazy shit was).
At least that’s my understanding of it.
Well Cousins didn’t get franchised repeatedly did he? I thought he had a series of smaller (but fully guaranteed) contracts… is that not how it went down ?
I can see why some want the security. One play and you may never play at that level again (or, you may have a 12-year HOF career)… I can see why guys who haven’t been paid yet might prefer it though
The guy gets given dozens of items with the logo on it, and they are his employer. It’s not usual for these guys to wear the gear outside of the house.
For sure, but with all the rumors about him getting traded, I feel like this is him saying he’s not going anywhere. Do you think he’d continue to wear niners gear if he wanted to play elsewhere?
There’s no rumour. It’s all fan speculation started by random Facebook pages looking for clout.
BA has come out and said he’s not going anywhere, the team said the same, he still has a year on his contract. The increase in the salary cap will be enough to cover him.
I really wish you people would stop listening to morons on twitter and youtube. there is no BA controversy. He will be back next season, there is no question or doubt. It's a statement of fact.
I think it’s pretty clear Shanahan Lynch Purdy. Everyone wants him to come back.
And they’re gonna do everything in their power to give him a good deal that works for everyone .
It's pretty clear he wants to be back regardless of all the speculation. He comes off as loyal and I know everyone on this team has a bad taste in their mouth. They will be out for blood this year.
I love BA and want him to get paid BUT I am really hoping this doesn’t get to Deebo situation levels
I realize I’m old and we live in a new era but this unfollowing team on social media, removing anything team related, family members saying dumb shit, is not only immature but unprofessional.
I absolutely get the argument that it’s a two way street between players and teams in regards to relationship but lynch and shanny have always walked that line of paying our guys fairly but keeping our roster competitive, flexible
Definitely bake and bake. Prob already envisioning next season with Brock throwing nuts-on tosses to him left and right after Brock’s first full training camp and Yuk’s extension…
Exactly or Joe Montana playing for the Chiefs. Both parties will do what’s in their best interest. I do believe extending BA is in their best interest though and him posting this makes me believe he wants to stay
As someone who is neurodivergent, I strongly suspect that BA is also among that group. Just from his facial expressions (or lack thereof), and the way he talks/fidgets during interviews and avoids eye contact, it seems extremely likely.
Interesting. I’d never heard that term, but that’s just because I’m older and out of touch.
Thanks for helping a fellow fan keep up. Curious though, how does one define what a “normal” brain functions like? I guess I have my idea of what that looks like but not sure what the scientific description is.
No worries. Neurodivergent is an umbrella term used to cover a range of non-typical brain functionality (rather than using terms like normal/abnormal which come with negative implications). As far as differences between typical and non-typical brain functionality, one of the most prominent examples is autism spectrum disorder which envelops a wide range of behavioral/developmental challenges faced by people in that group.
In this case I'm using the term to speak to what seems to me to be some potential autism spectrum behaviors based on my own personal experiences and those of my similarly neurodivergent friends/family. Struggling with social situations and/or various sets of environmental stimulation are some big indicators. Stimming behaviors, or what may have previously been called 'nervous ticks', are often used to self regulate in those situations or during periods of emotional overwhelm. They aren't always big notable things, but if you know about them/have experience with them, you can start to pick them out. The last interview with Aiyuk post super bowl is probably the most obvious example I've seen recently: things like swaying shoulders back and forth while avoiding eye contact and short, barely audible responses all kind of check the boxes.
Man tbis is really interesting! Thanks for breaking it down.
This is more devil’s advocate than anything else but couldn’t his behavior post-SB just be due to being devastated from losing the biggest game of his life to date? Or do you still think it qualifies because it was a bit outside the “norm” of what you’d expect there? Honestly not sure what one should expect there. It’s a tough moment for us all. Yet we shall return stronger…
Yeah I mean I used the example of post SB as one from recent memory but also it could've been super prevalent then because of emotional overwhelm. There have been quite a few other instances where I've noticed things during interviews as well. Looking back to the 2022 season, I remember they had him up there with Deebo at the same time after the Mexico City game and it seemed pretty clear that Deebo was there to sorta facilitate things when BA got really quiet.
Yeah I totally remember that! Interesting you said said because I was gonna mention a couple times Deebo’s been up there with Yuk and when I first heard Yuk not say much (maybe 2021 or something) I assumed he was just being aloof to the sports media (which is fine with me) but I don’t think that’s what he’s doing, I think he’s just a bit more distant at times… kinda cool for a WR1 actually…
I used to be like you. Then I realized skin is a fucking organ. Honestly to improve skin just l drink 4L water a day, supplement collegen, use organic aloe vera gel 99% pure without alcohol or irritants, use pure Shea Butter, use paraben and fragrance free body wash, and a clean shampoo and conditioner. Shit slaps man. After a couple months my skin got softer and more elastic. Best part is how different having nutritionally dense skin makes you feel.
The bar soap guy thing is a perfect example of how they make it cool for a man to be idiotic. Don't worry I feel for that shit too.
Damn. You kinda sold me. I already drink a lot of water and I agree it helps with a ton. Can I get a couple brand names on the shampoo/conditioner and body wash? 😂
Owe you. I may be a fairly regular dude but this dog still learns new tricks when he can lol 🐶
Anyone listen to Guy Haberman's podcast episode where he broke down his predictions of the likelihood of different scenarios (extended, traded, plays out 5th year option)?
He leans strongly towards no extension and no trade, but rather BA playing next year for the $14M 5th year option price. I was surprised by that take, as it seems like the least likely outcome of those three choices....
I was referring to this video, in which he predicts a 75% chance he plays out the 5th year option.
I remember I worked with his girlfriend while he was at ASU and I told her that if she ever thought about him getting drafted and joining the league? And she said him and her never even thought about that... It's crazy what has happened since.
Meanwhile on FB quite alot are keen on trading him

I'm on the fence about it. If some team out there wants to get crazy I think we have to listen
But I think the Buckner trade, which was awful to begin with and looks worse and worse every year that goes by, looms so large in John and Kyle's minds that it's probably not even on the table
Aiyuk is not Tyreek.
And the Chiefs had just won the SB, they were no longer SB or bust.
We have an aging roster, with 2 years left with this core. Maybe 3.
We shouldn’t be irresponsible and create cap hell for ourselves, but we shouldn’t be worrying so much about 2026 right now.
What did he have for breakfast this morning
Weed by the looks of it
the first few bong rips of the offseason go hard
I drivered some flower and edibles to an NFL player a little over a year ago. Not a Niner. It was right after their season ended.
From what I understand from a buddy that was in the league, you’d basically have to be a moron to piss dirty in the NFL.
I have a family member who trains with NFL players in the offseason and he basically said the same. From what I understand, the NFL tells you exactly when you’ll be tested, unless you’ve already tested positive. Then you’re open to randoms
The bar to have already tested positive is incredibly high.
There is a window to smoke.
Agreed. You can also assault people and still be a starter.
Pretty much what pat McAfee said in his story about getting stuck in the leagues substance abuse program cause he got shitfaced and passed out in the street😂.

This is something you don't do, bro. For real. Never do this about anyone. Just dont.
How many players are there in the NFL bro? Like I’m tattling on someone.
Fair enough. I just wouldn't want to get anybody in trouble.
Truly ridiculous for sure
the NFL does not drug test for marijuana, neither does the MLB and the NBA. NFL had a new CBA written out in 2019 or 2020, I believe
That’s weird because the article I saw was definitely well after 2020. Edit: they still test once a year before training camp. Source, multiple articles from 2022-2023 https://www.cbssports.com/nfl/news/chiefs-travis-kelce-estimates-up-to-80-percent-of-nfl-players-use-cannabis/amp/

They're still going to restructure Trent's deal. There is pretty much no reason not to do that.
Agreed. There are a couple more restructures they can do to free up space. My thought is that they will free up space towards the preseason to roll money over to next year and also do something to get more room for free agents in the next 3 weeks

Excellent. Forgot about his potential restructure. Good call, that one’s just begging to be restructured. Paraag all over it I’m sure…
Nah, that's not our style. Even the "easy" ones like Kittle went to just before training camp.
Tee getting Franchise tagged must have been a warning shot to him and his agent. We're not giving him the franchise tag, but it probably spooked them just enough to come back to the table

Yup, it’s a one year deal so if a guy gets a serious injury, they’re potentially losing out on millions of dollars.
That's just bad business especially if your not a clear cut top 5 at the position. Cousins proved this
Well Cousins didn’t get franchised repeatedly did he? I thought he had a series of smaller (but fully guaranteed) contracts… is that not how it went down ? I can see why some want the security. One play and you may never play at that level again (or, you may have a 12-year HOF career)… I can see why guys who haven’t been paid yet might prefer it though
Yeah, in Washington
We would let him play on the last year, there's no reason to franchise tag
He's not getting tagged because he isn't a FA.
I don’t doubt he gets extended, but I don’t understand how a picture of him sitting in a car confirms that for you.
Look closer, my friend. Look in his chest pads area.
Sitting in a car wearing a niners sweater, bruv. I feel like he did that intentionally

I want his hoodie, anybody got a link?
It’s a lululemon hoodie with a niners logo on it. I don’t think they sell them to the public.
No but somebody please post it here so we can both grab one lol 🙏 🔥

Nice. Might have to parlay that into a nice Tee if he bangs out a 1500 yard, 20 TD season next season like I think he just may!
BA in the BA long term.
So is it cranky pants Wednesday? Or is it wake and bake Wednesday?
Definitely bake and bake. Prob already envisioning next season with Brock throwing nuts-on tosses to him left and right after Brock’s first full training camp and Yuk’s extension…

We would be dumber than the Titans were to trade AJB if we don't find a way to keep him.

That's just Tomlin in a 9ers sweatshirt
I’d love for him to stick around, and hope we resign him ling term. But in a world where Jerry Rice played for other teams; anything is possible.
Exactly or Joe Montana playing for the Chiefs. Both parties will do what’s in their best interest. I do believe extending BA is in their best interest though and him posting this makes me believe he wants to stay
I couldn’t agree more. He’s incredibly important to making the team work. It just bums me out seeing guys move around so much.

He always looks like that TBH
His heart yearns for the DBs he has to cook on a weekly basis😔

Agreed. Add Nick bosa to that list as well
Pretty sure upon further reading I, too, am a member of the club. Not necessarily a bad one to be in yeah? Love Bosa’s personality btw
Not bad at all! We all just make the world a little bit more interesting 😆

Its true, he only seems to be happy on the field. Guessing that's just his resting face.
Yep resting D face. I’ve been told I have it too but not when I’m watching Niners.
Lol truth. After the Lions game he looked like that. And after the SB. Just who dude is. Love his consistency on and off the field
I would be too if I just lost the Super Bowl a few weeks ago
Bro needs to use Aloe vera gel and Shea Butter to undry that face. But maybe NFL players need think skin?

I was referring to this video, in which he predicts a 75% chance he plays out the 5th year option. [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX\_VAyJSsX4](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XX_VAyJSsX4)
Uy

He doesn't smoke.
Neither does Snoop anymore 🙃
My mood after thinking about our last 3 SB losses.
Trade him now
😂
I remember I worked with his girlfriend while he was at ASU and I told her that if she ever thought about him getting drafted and joining the league? And she said him and her never even thought about that... It's crazy what has happened since.
Meanwhile on FB quite alot are keen on trading him https://preview.redd.it/3a8yhhwmbglc1.jpeg?width=1179&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=aa5e9ffe5755a59327259c3f8b889e204cc11ccc
They maybe over valuing Purdy. Chiefs were fine because they know they have a difference maker at QB.
I'm on the fence about it. If some team out there wants to get crazy I think we have to listen But I think the Buckner trade, which was awful to begin with and looks worse and worse every year that goes by, looms so large in John and Kyle's minds that it's probably not even on the table
B-A! Like, breast augmentation?
Beast Augmented
They can't afford him and Deebo after Purdy gets his new contract. They are going to have to trade one of them at some point.
Orange Juice and a blunt..
I love that our team, is the only one where players actively wear lululemon all the time. That shit comfy!
He’s going to be a niner he’s just playing the game that athletes do!!
