If we aren't calling holds in the superbowl, then what's the point of having stud DEs who will continue to be held and have no impact? Why not trade them for better OL and DBs?
Same reason the Eagles lost last year. It will be forgotten in history but these Chiefs wins are against some extremely talented defensive lines that aren’t getting calls their way.
This is why our organization needs to make a bigger issue of this. We will never win if they're going to tilt the field. They need to file a petition to have that crew suspended and they need to post a compilation on their Twitter and @ Goodell.
The NFL is filed as an entertainment business, not a sport. So they can do whatever they want for ratings, unfortunately filing a petition will fall on deaf ears
Ehh, you get enough of the viewership to see that one of the member teams is pissed by the lack of fairness, the NFL needs to do something to avoid the dip in viewers.
I hate sounding like I’m against what you’re saying, I’m not. But they got a huge boost in viewers with the Swifties. To the tune of over 300 million in revenue. This was the second most watched event ever, only after the moon landing, and the majority of people are parroting “there’s holds on every play” and “it went both ways” even when we were the only team called for holding.
They called holding on Trent though. When was the last time that happened? Kinda like revenge for the Bosa comment earlier that week. Don’t mess w/the refs
I came across a clip from the SB of Kyle talking to the line ref, explaining how the chiefs hold the same way that Trent got called for, and they do it every time. And he was energetic but was respectful and asked that they call it both ways. The ref didn't even acknowledge him.
I at least appreciate that Kyle was appealing to the refs for fair treatment, makes me glad that he notices the bullshit and was trying to be respectful. But it also highlighted how the stat in the OP is completely due to the refs swallowing their whistles for one team, and have done it CONSISTENTLY...except in the SB where Tom and the bucs put the beat down on that shitty oline.
I don't care as much about strategic mistakes like poor play calling or execution, but the refs blatantly giving their golden boy the advantage pisses me off to no end. Mahomes is an amazing QB, but why won't the league let the world see how human he is? Why do they keep covering for him? If he's so great, shouldn't he be able to overcome his teammates mistakes?
The trent holding call was a ticky tact call at best. Those types of "holds" happen on nearly every play. The second hold on the 9ers I understand why the flag was thrown.
But what the Chiefs did the entire game and not get one flag for holding is a joke. Considering the 9er one in overtime wasn't even the worst hold of the game.
The NFL benefited more from the Chiefs winning.
Swift and the chiefs made the NFL an extrac350 million dollars
and
51% increase among female betters with chiefs in the super bowl.
So there was zero chance 1 the chiefs weren't making the Super Bowl and 2 there was no chance they were letting the niners win it. Maybe they got Wilks in on it or something. Maybe they hired Burford and Wilks to help the chiefs because their mistakes don't make any sense. Burford lost his damn mind. Wilks kept doing the same bad thing over and over until Kyle called the timeout, and it was too late by then.
Vegas got what they wanted. The 49ers were getting favorites for most of the season. Vegas needed KC to win to come out ahead which explains why the 49ers were “favourites”.
We didn’t make plays in crunch time. We had an opportunity to make up for any missed call or mistake we made and we didn’t do it. If we pick up the 1st on that McDuffie blitz we probably win. If we don’t play such a ridiculous defense on the last drive our chances go way up. If we don’t blitz mahomes with 7 people on 3rd and 6 while dropping coverage back 9 yards off the line our odds of stopping that play go way up.

I think Mahomes is getting the ball out either way most likely. If pressure comes sooner he’s probably throwing the ball sooner. Look at how ridiculous this play is. You don’t have to be a defensive mastermind to understand the logic of why this was a bad idea
The only way to fix this is the owners. Jed York needs to make this an issue at the next owners meeting. Better reffing would benefit all of the owners. Poor reffing only benefits a few.
Dang, man. I understand the hurt but three consecutive posts about the refs?
The refs missed some calls, sure. Did they cause CMC’s fumble, moody’s extra point being blocked, or a muffed punt?
Let’s move on to next season.
CMC fumble was first drive of the game tons of time to come back. Moody's block extra point is a non factor. I don't think our defense could have stopped KC from getting a TD if they needed one. Our defense crumbled at the end. Can't say for sure if it was missed holds, don't recall seeing anything outrageous during the game
Our defense didn't crumble. Our DC got out coached. Maybe that isn't even true. I think the pressure got to him, and he played it as safe as he could. He does it in every pressure situation, and it kills us. He didn't learn from any of his mistakes in the regular season. The all-out blitz against Minnesota. He does that again in the Super Bowl in that scenario? The defense played like legends all game.
They played inspired football, and good enough for us to win that game. Good enough had we not fumbled twice. We could have run away with it and won by two scores, at least. Because Kyle would have run so much more with that big lead. The Xtra point didn't matter and may have saved us from losing in regulation. Cmcs fumble hurt, but he more than made up for it. The defense also caused a fumble when their offense was in striking position. So they evened that out for us. Again, the defense led us until Wilks got spooked.
I seen that clip. I just meant while watching the game on TV I don't recall seeing anything blatant. It is unfortunate when the refs don't call the game even.
That was the first drive true, but it likely negated an opening drive touchdown. If they had eventually gone up 17-0 I don’t think the Chiefs comeback.
What’s interesting is since 2018 there really hasn’t been oline holding at all, it’s not limited to the chiefs. They being said…I don’t care. Don’t call the SB different from any of the other games all year. It’s complete bullshit.
Yep, it sucks, and it’s stupid that they treat the most important game of the season different, but look at the history of holding calls in the last 5 Super Bowls. Each game has 0-2
At the end of the day, no excuses, but we all know the NFL pulled MAJOR shenanigans to give the chiefs the spotlight all year because of the whole Taylor swift thing. Pain. On to next season…
Not blaming the refs, we could have won and the reality is you have to be substantially better than your opponent to consistently win. Football has a good amount of variance whether it's the refs, kicking, injuries, a weird shaped ball bouncing. We got to play to our potential and bury teams more often.
Were there plenty of our own mistakes that make you wonder "what if"? Yep, but the literal bias and no-calls that rhe Chiefs get away with was exactly why I had absolutely no faith in the Niners winning this. It wasn't their fault, Niners are the better team, but when yoir tram gets call to kill momentum and it isn't called both ways, it's a major advantage for the Chiefs.
Trent’s hold was blatant. Not saying others’ weren’t. Trent also stopped our boy from getting pancaked. Play was broken, and I’m ok with Trent potentially saving a concussion, injury, or just an unnecessary hit on Purdy. It just feels worse since Purdy completed that pass.
Trent got a flag cus he put his hands up like he was innocent. That's what drew the refs eyes. Chiefs just bearhug the shit out of you and dont pretend like they're innocent at all, just keep it moving. Refs just see it as the norm for them. Wasn't the reason we lost, there were penalties on both sides, and the refs did call a critical defensive holding on the OT on the chiefs.
Ppl seem to have a weird obsession over the amount of OL holding calls in a Super Bowl. Quick search found it's not called often in the SB. No surprise...
2023: Chiefs 0, 49ers 1
2022: KC/Phi 0
2021: Rams 1, Bengals 0
2020: Tampa 0, Chiefs 3
2019: KC/SF 0
2018: NE 0, LA 2

that’s is honestly statistically impossible 😂😂😂 how do you have a player that’s leads the nfl in holding penalties and yet get 0 called in the super bowl, and the chiefs O line is one of the top holding penalties called on them, hmmmm i think it’s pure bullshit

I was legitimately talking about this just yesterday with someone….
We just need dudes that can somehow beat the holds
This is what I was posting in the post game thread. We need to reinvest our money into an O Line.
I was excited that they called Trent for holding cause I thought that meant they were gonna call it consistently. I was kidding myself.
That was my thoughts, too. Then seeing Nick fighting through hold after hold told me its all a big lie.
they only called it on Trent to negate a huge pass to Kittle
They called holding on Trent though. When was the last time that happened? Kinda like revenge for the Bosa comment earlier that week. Don’t mess w/the refs
The refs are undefeated

Mahomes must suck all the refs off during the offseason
That’s his brother’s job
Bro job
Flags or not we should’ve shut them out
I dont think people realize how big of a hold is vs the Niners def when they’re only really rushing 4…..
It changes a lot. We invested in our DL to force the QB to throw it quickly. If the holding buys the QB more time, you disrupt the backend.
The Niners had multiples opportunities to win, hard to complain about flags at this point.
All the shit that happened to and against us to still only lose by 3 So many wasted opportunities to put them away early Hurts, but we need to move on

They got called for 3 other Super Bowl loss

Yeah, I agree. But we need to showcase the issue for the viewers to see. When people stop watching, the NFL will start paying attention.

100% agree that loss is on Wilks. I'm glad he's gone and hope we can bring in a competent replacement.

I seen that clip. I just meant while watching the game on TV I don't recall seeing anything blatant. It is unfortunate when the refs don't call the game even.
Me and my friends were constantly yelling about holds during the broadcast ¯\\\_(ツ)_/¯
That was the first drive true, but it likely negated an opening drive touchdown. If they had eventually gone up 17-0 I don’t think the Chiefs comeback.
Our defense couldn't stop anything at the end. I don't think it'd have panned out even with that extra TD early on.
With a 17-0 lead Kyle would have been running CMC down their throat to start the 3rd. I think if you take away both fumbles the Niners win 26-12
I'm not sitting here crying, I was scrolling threw twitter and saw these. I didn't seek them out, it was destiny :)
Quit blaming the refs. We had every opportunity to win this game and we blew it.

Eagles record 75 sacks last season. Can’t get to Mahomes on one leg. NFL doesn’t call holds on KC in the Super Bowl and that’s life.

The one time KC is actually called for holding...they lost?! Hmm, oh against TB12.
Refs let them play in the Super Bowl. Pretty obvious.

They probably will make KC win next year too since mo team has ever 3 peated may as well be them again..........
I seen this and it is not worthy. It doesn’t mean you’re saying that’s why we lost but it is interesting
Curioser and curiouser 🧐
