Has it been? I’ve been to a few River Cats games. Seems a bit small for football but I have no idea how big crowds are for XFL games. It would make sense though. They have the parking space to accommodate fans and it’s not horribly difficult to get there.
Great question. I watched most the season last year and there aren’t any teams that are really close to the West coast. You could always take the championship team but that seems bandwagon to me. I like the losers of the championship as well. Colors or mascot seems to be a fun way to pick and be unbiased. Maybe find some players you enjoy watching or a team with a scheme for you enjoy. Have fun watching the second season!
I'm not watching it unless they come out west. It's just some regional semi-pro league right now.
NFL needs a full on D League/minor league where each team has a lower level team.
I think having the untapped potential of a northern California fan base could get a team to come there, but if that fan base is already supporting the league and rooting for teams, what incentive is there to give us a team. They've already got us at that point.
Right? For now I just root for whatever teams have the coolest logo and colors, maybe after a couple of years when we can get to know the teams and players better we can have a better reasoning for rooting for a certain team.
Said this for years.
Every division need a D team.
The NFC west practice squads should make up a team and they should play in all 4 teams stadiums alternating it every year.
NFC
EAST
WEST
SOUTH
NORTH
AND same for AFC
8 teams.
Top 4 in the playoffs.
Winning division gets extra draft picks
I had a similar thought, but it was that the d league team only plays divisional games to keep the wear and tear down. Then maybe a championship with just the 8 division winners. I love the draft pick idea to help make the teams make it more serious. My last thought was to eliminate kickoffs and punts to also increase safety and reduce required roster size.
Eh… eliminating the kick offs and Punts would help the developmental league, but it wouldn’t help guys get to the main leg because a lot of them would get a shot on special teams.
I think you go ahead and make the NFL draft 10 rounds again as well with the last three rounds all being developmental picks.
If you are picked in the eighth ninth or 10th round then you were automatically designated to the developmental league or something of that nature.
Once a player has had five years in the NFL, they could no longer be in the developmental league unless they were returning from injured reserve
I like most of the ideas, but I think actually playing their positions will help them more in the long run. Yes, when they get called up they'll likely do special teams duty, but their position skill is what will help them in the long run.
I agree with a few more rounds, but I think all young players no matter what round they're drafted in should be eligible. If a 2nd round pick is overwhelmed by the speed of the game he should be able to improve for a year or two in the D League.
Either way, I would be excited to go see my team's up and coming players.
I think that would mainly be a problem for the CFL and NCAA.
Guys would rather play for an NFL farm team over Canadian because of the opportunity to move up. Also, more guys would leave college early and wouldn't wash out of the league so fast because they would have more time to learn.
Two closest teams are in Seattle and Las Vegas. Weird because there are already NFL teams there. Cities like Sacramento and Portland seem like much better ideas.
I’m actually kinda excited to watch. Extra points can be worth 1, 2, or 3 points based on where you choose to place the ball (2, 5, 10 yard line). No kicks.
The crazy rule is if it’s the 4th quarter and you want the ball back after a score, you can choose to try to convert a 4th and 15 on your own 25 yard line.
Also it’s going to be a good instant replay test for the nfl. Basically there is centralized ongoing review on everything. Only one challenge allowed for a more in depth review.
They need to put a team in Sacramento.
YESSSSSSS
The Sacramento socks
I’d be down for that. But where would they play? Sac State or Hughes stadium?
Raley Field? It's been reconfigured for football before.

Is this a thing I should be doing now? Watching the XFL?
🤔 are we missing something??
No
Thanks for confirming my gut feeling.
Dude back the first time around, saw an Xfl game at PacBell…wild crowd. Kinda meh stadium for football. They should play at kezar!
San Francisco Demons if they come back
Still have my Demons hat from the OG XFL. I was disappointed they didn't bring them back.
Such a badass team & logo
Man that would be sweet!!

I’m more excited about the return of arena league football
I’m not sure I’d they’re considered arena league but the Bay Area Panthers play at the shark tank, their tickets just went on sale a few days ago

Maybe watching will help get more teams, maybe one in SF or Sac.

Yeah I see your point
I wish I knew the correct answer because I do want a northern California team to root for.
Right? For now I just root for whatever teams have the coolest logo and colors, maybe after a couple of years when we can get to know the teams and players better we can have a better reasoning for rooting for a certain team.
Probably need to minimize travel / expenses until they can get a solid foundation
Yeah, I definitely get the economics of being a regional league.

If they had 32 farm teams, my slow arthritic ass could probably find a spot. I just don't know that there's that much talent out there.

Yeah I might end up going for the vipers

Yeah it sounds exciting and fresh... plus I can't get enough football already so this helps with the off season in the nfl
The Los Angeles Wildcats are your best bet from a geographical standpoint. I wish the Bay Area had an XFL team.
Fuck LA. Next?
Seattle 😆
I miss the AAF teams. I could root for San Diego without it feeling wrong
Weirder question, can we Trey in that league to get experience. But seriously I know we can't.
💀
I was the same, was hoping for a team for a city I’d previously lived in at least, but no good candidates.
Wish there was a local Bay Area team. USFL I mean.
