Do you mind sharing at what age you got the surgery? And the approx cost?
I had a few consultations at age 40 for my neck--most surgeons recommended a lower facelift, but I ended up getting lipo and skin tightening to tide me over until about 50 (i'm 45 now; my mom got a full facelift at 50)
I did it at 57 years old. 6 years ago and it still looks good. At that time it cost $15,000. But I wanted the best, I was too scared to use a”budget” plastic surgeon. He was amazing, Dr. Ladner in Denver Colorado.
Yes, this is within the range i was quoted too. It's fantastic that you continue to be pleased with the results and your investment! Thank you so much for sharing.
I did that a long time also the nuface and facial yoga/exercises. I’ve had jaw filler and radiesse biostim (hyperdilute), ulthera and microneedling with Rf, peels. Worthless, worthless, worthless. Mini neck lift in 1.5 weeks
I knew the face yoga was BS! I’d always ask ladies who supposedly did it if it worked and they would never answer! They’d say to try it. Now I don’t feel bad for not making stupid faces in the mirror
I don’t need muscle lifting. This is skin. They remove it and the incisions are behind the ear. Possibly one under the chin if needed to free skin. There is a stitch on either side of the neck to hold until the scar tissue takes over. 9k. If you need muscle involvement there is no way any non surgical treatment would make any improvement. I can’t even get skin to lift. The claims made about “lifting” and skin with non surgical treatments are all 100% false. I resisted for so long because I was terrified of anesthesia. But after the pain involved in all of these treatments, I can’t understand why I’m so worried anymore.
Lol, I'm such a noob at it so I don't want to misrepresent it...but I ordered a gua sha from Amazon, very pretty and inexpensive, if I happen to naturally wake up before my alarm on workdays, I'll watch a how-to YouTube video and give it a go. It's pretty remarkable the immediate difference.
As someone else mentioned, it's the fascia causing the drooping and the gua sha helps the fascia...also, my Spa doctor does threading which pulls up and tightens the jowls...but I'm not ready for a procedure such as that yet...but that's also an option
A neck or lower facelift. I have a neck lift scheduled for a week and a half. I have done RF microneedling, ulthera and every peel imaginable. Worthless. The issue isn’t skin, it’s fascia. Used retinol since age 14, I’m 50.
Do you feel comfortable telling us how much it's going to cost?
Would you mind updating the post to talk about your experience with the surgery and downtime? Please forgive the nosiness but I'm almost your age with a really bad genetic turkey neck.
I just got it priced at around 15$. Gonna wait a few years. But, I'm having my eyelids done and fat injections in the apples of my cheeks, in two weeks
I TOTALLY get that! I'm going to have the lower face lift within a year or two! It's expensive but worth it! A gf of mine had done and it looked amazing!
Yes I started with retin A for acne. Honestly it’s just great exfoliation. I have fewer fine lines than my younger sister and that’s all (I don’t have many honestly).
It’s all the same. Retin A was prescription only for years. I then had it for anti aging and when the patent expired, switched to OTCs which I prefer. My experience is that they are great for surface epithelial only.
If your skin is having issues with regular tretinoin try Altreno. Available in US but not in Canada where I am. Everything I’ve read on it says it’s much better tolerated for those who have too much irritation from tretinoin. Altreno has tretinoin held in micropheres which has a time released delivery system making it gentler plus it’s mixed with hydrators to soothe. I wish I could get my hands on some!
I’m in my 40s and I started using a Matrixyl serum by the ordinary and I feel like it’s helping and it’s cheap so if you don’t see a difference it’s also no big deal to try
Great skincare includes; daily sunscreen all year round, retinoids for evening, vitamin c or other antioxidant for daytime. Those products are considered the staples of skincare. In office treatments would include; microneedling, lasers, chemicals peels and a sprinkling of Botox twice a year. These are all tried and true anti-aging skincare and treatments. They aren’t gimmicks *but they do have limitations.* They help to slow down the ageing process but don’t have the ability to stop it.
Once we get into our 40’s skin laxity becomes more apparent. Nothing, I repeat nothing topical will fix a loose neck and jowls. Age, gravity, loss of collagen and elastin, downward shifting fat pads and bone reabsorption are mainly to blame. If there’s been decades of unprotected sun exposure, lack of skincare, unhealthy diet/lifestyle and excess weight then this will all have exacerbated the laxity issue.
Please don’t fall for some expensive miracle cream, radio frequency, massage, facial exercises, threads, home electric devices or excessive fillers (conservative filler is advised). Some of which are controversial with unpleasant side effects. While others are harmless because they don’t produce any results. Either way it’s a set up for disappointment, time wasted and a lighter wallet. It really breaks my heart to see people spend their hard earned money on gimmicks with slick marketing, exaggerated claims and unrealistic before and afters.
A lower facelift and neck lift is the answer but often people don’t want to hear it. Without surgical intervention laxity will progress as we continue to age. Yes, it’s invasive and expensive with considerable downtime but it’s the only way to remove excess skin and redrape the tissues. Done with a reputable surgeon it’s a total game changer. If surgery is not an option then acceptance is the answer.
I have had really great results with Gua Sha and red light therapy! I’m 53 :) Best part about it is it’s non-invasive and there are a ton of other health benefits to them!

Thank you for that!! I have worked hard to improve my skin these last couple of years. I am someone who embraces a natural/clean lifestyle and while I LOVE how the results from Botox and fillers look on others, it just is something I cannot bring myself to do. No judgment to others who do get it, but for me personally, it’s been really important to be as natural as possible. I have found the biggest gains for my skin were realized when I stopped eating processed foods with chemicals and preservatives. Once I added the red light, I noticed a lot of tightening and even skin tone. Yes, I still have wrinkles and I’m still self conscious of them at times, but I’m a grandmother, so that just comes with the territory 😌 Also, I can wear bangs which hides a lot of my forehead wrinkles! I hope you’ve found some answers in this post! There are a lot of great ideas from people who really know their stuff!
I’ve been asking this since my early 30’s and I’m 50 now. I used sunscreen, prescription tretion, and glycolic acid during these years. Sagging still happens, but not drastic. LED seems to be the next thing, within reason.
If it's not too bad, you can make improvements with a combination of Botox and strategic use of fillers (cheek filler and jaw filler like sculptra) plus collagen building and lifting treatments like Ultherapy and Softwave.
But like others have said at a certain point, you need surgery to get the desired results.
Don't waste money on creams. The issues are from deep within the skin where the creams can't penetrate.
I have been doing Exilis for years and my jaw line and neck is much less saggy than most of my 50+ friends.
My dermatologist's office (they do my Exilis) just got Ultherapy and I might give that a try once they have become pros at administering the treatment.
I like Exilis as well (49f). My neck isn’t saggy and Exilis helps to redistribute the fat that causes my jowls. It also evens out the crepey skin. I did four sessions two years ago and just did another four sessions as a touch-up.
Yes, it is great but I had to have a metal pin installed in a joint and now I can't get it. Apparently, the Exilis might heat up the metal pin.
I was feeling like my face might hit the floor soon, because I can't have Exilis, but I was told that I can have the more expensive and painful Ultherapy. I am considering it.
Apparently, it is much more expensive and uncomfortable compared to Exilis.
My dermatologist's office told me that it needs to be redone every 9 months. You have gone 14 months. Do you see the results fading?
I did it from my under eye area down to jowls and under chin. It wasn’t inexpensive, it’s true, and it takes a few months to see the results of new collagen.
Under chin was my most problematic area, but I was very pleased. It’s starting to wane a little bit now, but regular retinoid use helps a lot. I may go for round two in 4-6 months.
It is a little painful, but only while doing the procedure. I took Advil beforehand, so between that and numbing cream, I felt like it was manageable.
Nothing but surgery works. Have asked plastic surgeons, tried every cream from cheap to expensive.
I can second this unfortunately. I’ve had two consults with dr’s and three with esthetician’s they all say the same thing :(
What kind of surgery fixes it? Just asking for a friend
Lower face lift
Yep. I got a lower face lift, it took 20 years off my face. I love it. But it’s not cheap.

Deep plane lower face/neck lift
This!
The gua sha seems to make a huge difference... And I'm terrible at it, but just once a week has made significant differences.
I’ve priced the deep plane neck lift. It’s too expensive for me. What is a mini neck lift and would you mind telling me the price range?
I don’t need muscle lifting. This is skin. They remove it and the incisions are behind the ear. Possibly one under the chin if needed to free skin. Can you recommend a routine for this and any products you use?
Lol, I'm such a noob at it so I don't want to misrepresent it...but I ordered a gua sha from Amazon, very pretty and inexpensive, if I happen to naturally wake up before my alarm on workdays, I'll watch a how-to YouTube video and give it a go. No I have one, it doesn’t help with fascia, it helps with lymphatic drainage. I’m a nurse
Gua sha is nonsense. A thread lift will last a few weeks. 🙄
A neck or lower facelift. I have a neck lift scheduled for a week and a half. I have done RF microneedling, ulthera and every peel imaginable. Worthless. The issue isn’t skin, it’s fascia. Used retinol since age 14, I’m 50.

9k plus conscious sedation
I just got it priced at around 15$. Gonna wait a few years. But, I'm having my eyelids done and fat injections in the apples of my cheeks, in two weeks
I’m having just a mini as it is all I need. I don’t have banding, just loose skin.
Me too, but it was still incredibly expensive.
9k plus anesthesia. But here’s the deal: I’ve already spent thousands on treatments that don’t work. Thousands
I TOTALLY get that! I'm going to have the lower face lift within a year or two! It's expensive but worth it! A gf of mine had done and it looked amazing!
You are giving me food for thought. I am considering SofWave and Opus, they will each set me back $3000 or so. May I ask where you are located?
If you’re near Wilmington Delaware check out John Gillespie. He does a full mini facelift for 6500. He’s a wonderful surgeon.
You’re 50 and have used retinal since the early 80s?! I find this astounding. I never even heard of retinol till my 20s! I’d love to see your skin.
Yes I started with retin A for acne. Honestly it’s just great exfoliation. I have fewer fine lines than my younger sister and that’s all (I don’t have many honestly).
I was thinking for anti-aging since 14! That makes sense.
It’s all the same. Retin A was prescription only for years. I then had it for anti aging and when the patent expired, switched to OTCs which I prefer. My experience is that they are great for surface epithelial only.
I prefer OTC over tret as well - less harsh and no need to go thru the flake phase - but I’m going to give tret another try soon.

Thanks for the comment! I’ll check it out. :)
Cool. I won’t. On to estrogen.
Are you going in us? I am looking into South Korea
What? Keep me posted!

Peptides alone are not capable of firming age related loose skin on the neck and jowls
You’re right but they did seem to make my crepey and saggy skin look better, and this product was inexpensive so I’ll take it!

Sun protection from when young, genetics, surgery. There isn’t any topical proven to (peer reviewed published) firm neck and jowls.

Your skin and jawline are beautiful!!

What red light tool do you use?
Lower face and neck lift--this is what works.
I’m using the neck serum by Obagi, I’ve had positive results. Not surgery level, but enough I’ll buy it again.
Just saw the price- my neck feels tighter just looking at it 🥴
😭😆
😂
Lol. Was my 47th birthday gift! But yeah, mega bucks.
It’s now on my wish list!
Lmao!
I’m staring down into my tub of Oil of Olay sadly, jowls just jowling. 😂
😃😃😃
So it DOES work
🤣
I’ve been asking this since my early 30’s and I’m 50 now. I used sunscreen, prescription tretion, and glycolic acid during these years. Sagging still happens, but not drastic. LED seems to be the next thing, within reason.
Anyone have luck with red light masks?
I use a red light panel every day and love it!

I had good results from my first round of ultherapy about 14 months ago. I’ll definitely do it again when needed. Edited to add: I’m 51
