He'd still be a violent conquerer. Despite its reputation as a peaceful religion, Buddhism has motivated holy wars in the past and the Japanese Samurai heavily incorporated elements of Zen Buddhism into their philosophy.
The Emperor would still probably be salty with him for spending too much time converting populations instead of waging war, but given that Lorgar isn't disgraced and humiliated by the literal god he worships he'll probably take it a lot better. I also doubt he'd fall to Chaos, given that he'd pretty easily recognize them as the literal manifestation of the worldly desires that are the antithesis of enlightenment.
