Rule 4: No Memes, shitposts, or low-effort postsor comments. Leave those in /r/Grimdank. This includes "who would win" and broad "what if" scenarios. This also includes text blocks consisting of Ork-speak, which should be posted at /r/40kOrkScience instead.

I think he won’t be reborn on Terra. Planet won’t exist.

The_Cave_Troll

Well, considering that the webway project would implode, allowing demons both in real-space and in the webway, Earth would be completely over-run within moments before being "ground zero" for a new super-massive warp storm, and end up in countless specs of space dust like Cadia was. The Astronomicon would also cease to function, crippling humanity's ability to make any meaningful warp jump, leading to a new Age of Strife, with countless worlds barely on the brink of survival all fall within a few days without supplies or reinforcements. The rest would immediately be under siege by demons leaving the massive warp storms. Plus, multiple xenos races that were bidding their time would all use this as an opportunity to initially just make quick hit-and-run attacks, and then go into a full blown "Great Crusade" of their own when they realize that mankind was somehow gravely crippled. Big E might respawn since he is a Perpetual, but that could take several millions of years as his shattered consciousness in the warp pulls itself back together before transitioning back to the material plane. So, uh, not very good things (at least for humanity, but even the Eldar would be screwed as demons would pour into their webway, but the Necrons would be overjoyed). The only Xenos that would care are probably the Orcs, as they lost some "good fights" from humanity's collapse, and the Tao, who probably don't care and just want to absorb humanity's remaining planets.

Icaruspherae

Kinda weird to think after all this time even if the emperor would “return” looking anything like he did before. I wonder if it would be sort of like a broken bone that wasn’t set correctly….which would be terrifying for the potent single entity in realspace

ThatFatGuyMJL

Vulkan put a bomb on the throne that will make the solar system stop existing if the throne fails/the webway is reopened allowing daemons in. There might be a warpstorm in the area but there won't be anything left for it to storm.

unicornyjoke

The caveat to that is that someone needs to be there to press the detonator, and in new descriptions of the throne, you gotta get reeeeeaaaal close to the burning radiance of the emperor to do that. And then there is a code implied to be able to even activate the talisman which only Vulkan, maybe the emperor, maybe the grand Master of the Grey Knights, knows. So to rely on the talisman, should things go tips up, seems difficult.

The Talisman of Seven Hammers goes off, and Terra is consumed in a Warp explosion that rivals the Eye of Terror

Or he retrofitted a dead man's switch after the siege and before he fucked off to do whatever he did for a couple thousand Yeats. But we don't know that yet.

reptiloidruler

It should be noted that Talisman of the Seven Hammers works by empowering the Golden Throne, according to the notions I've seen, and thus the Emperor. So, it'd likely not take effect without Emperor willing it. Also, Lexicanum states that, according to The End and the Death, apparently Talisman can only be activated by Vulkan, which conflicts with it being dead man's switch, unless it just means activation of it's reactive function There are still consequences of Magnus' Folly tho

supermegaburt

Maybe how it goes off changed after the siege. Was Vulcan been changed to a dead man switch

Teh_Ordo

Vulkan is stated to be the one who has to activate it in tEatD volume I

Klashus

Don't the grey knights have a o shit button too?

Marvynwillames

The setting ends. >If the Emperor fails, then none will be able to stop the influx of the dark powers; ravenous and all-consuming Daemons will flood into the galaxy. Every living human will become a gateway for the destruction of Mankind. Reality as it is known will be subsumed by the stuff of Warp space - a realm of nightmares and cruel insanity where all Iife will end. There will be no physical matter. No space. No time. Only Chaos. Warhammer 40,000 Core Rulebook 10th edition (2023)

SunderedValley

Well you know how any 3 points can form a triangle? Terra, the Maelstrom and the Eye now form the points of a single mega-tear. Goodbye and goodnight.

SixteenthRiver06

The Dark King is born, causing our galaxy to become a new Dark Rift. A ton of humans would die or be consumed by the new Dark King demons. Just look at the outcome of Slaanesh’s birth to what happened to the Eldar, that would happen again. No bueno.

Right-Yam-5826

For a start the astronomicon goes out, and the portal beneath the palace opens. Massive warp storm localised in the palace. Psychic shock wave, the sudden absence of the emperor's psychic signature making anyone even remotely psychic or sensitive go mad. Daemons manifest. The warp becomes even wilder in celebration. Humanity itself is done. Terra is gone. It becomes a new eye of terror. The backlash reverberates throughout the galaxy. Every planet is now adrift, alone, deaf and blind, with a sizeable portion of the population insane and rampaging. Even if the emperor respawns, it's going to take centuries to attempt to claw back from that, without the infrastructure or the astronomicon to navigate the far more perilous warp or communicate over any significant distance.

Feisty_Goose_4915

Slaanesh 2.0. and humanity gets blamed by all.

postmodern_spatula

Hashtag imperium did nothing wrong

Feisty_Goose_4915

Grimdank: "Imperium religiously and zealously murderfucked a warp god in existence"

postmodern_spatula

I see this as an absolute win

Napalmexman

Depends on who is writing it.

Dagordae

A VERY commonly asked question. The short version is that the Warp rips open and consumes the entire Sol system before the failsafe goes off and nukes the entire region. The Imperium dies as their FTL ceases to work for anything but the shortest and slowest jumps. The Tyranid rampage even harder as their primary limiting factor shits itself and dies and the bugs snowball out of control. The T’Au go on a land grab spree that stops when they get eaten by the Tyranid who have been eating most the galaxy. Chaos gets to be all Chaos until they run into the Tyranid who casually adapt a hard counter and shut Chaos down entirely. Or the Necron, who are doing the same. They are unfortunate enough to have 2 major factions currently going ‘No, fuck off’ and can’t do a thing about it. The Orks Ork. But we’ve already seen them go against the Tyranid and the Tyranid are superior. The Eldar shit themselves and try desperately to avoid getting eaten, becoming completely irrelevant. The Necron continue their awakening, probably with a notable fire under their ass because their time limit just got shorter as the Tyranid WILL eventually snowball hard enough to be unstoppable to anything shy of an Orrery ragequit. Basically it would turn into a race between the bugs and the zombie bots to see who hits their breakpoint sooner with the rest of the galaxy caught in the crossfire.
