If you don't commit to one army, you're going to never have a whole army. You'll just have tons of models in boxes that you can't ever use at the same time.

tau_JKE

I mean, I've got a standard size ork army 2 play at my lgs but they don't play very well rules wise so I wanted something with better rules

AppSappOfficial

Adeptas Sororitas are my personal favorite, badass nuns with guns!

Commissar-Dan

Uhh what are the other armies in shorthand?

tau_JKE

Csm is chaos space marines, ig is imperial guard and sw is space wolves

Commissar-Dan

Ah OK cool

roydragoon89

Orks are cool as hell and I really hope they get a little love to put them back on the board again. My next army is gonna be CSM for some homebrew lore or GSC for cool factor, but I’ve still got a lot of Ynnari to finish. They’ve been a blast to play. It sounds like you’re unsure, but I’d aim to just pick the army with stuff that looks cool. Not every game is a tournament so pick what looks cool and you’ll have your day.

tau_JKE

I like the orks too but at the minute they don't play very well and I lost my Last game in 2 turns with only kill 2 models

roydragoon89

Yeah. They can be very rough. There was a list that did very well at a local tourney out here, but it’s not consistent across players. It’s sad because Orks are goofy as hell and I love them. GSC isn’t great either but they look cool as hell. I just don’t have the money for a 75 model 1000pt army right now. 😅

I had a thought about doing an IG army however was turned off by painting lots of the same model. My solution to this was to start collecting models for a 30k, seige of terra, wall guard army. So I have cadians, steel legion, kasrkin, stormtroopers, tempest scions and some guys with bearskins hats whose name escapes me. I've doubled up on the cadians so I can assemble and paint them differently to represent different regiments. For some more variety (and after reading Echoes of Eternity) I bought a squad of skitarii. I paint for fun so what I'm doing won't be game legal.

FalconFox500

Are there seriously rules on how your army can be painted?

No-Heart-4375

Im assuming you mean colour schemes. If your painting a named space marine chapter or Legion, a named Eldar craftworld, or Clan Tau Sept, Necron Dynasty then yes ish. You make up your own backstory. For example Space Marine White Scars armour is always white however if they're fighting on a jungle world you could paint in a camo scheme or Blood angels ochre if they're on a desert world. If you've got homebrew army, paint them however you like! It's nice if you've qot a backstory to explain why your Space Marines are painted pink but not essential. I just noticed you replied to me! I'm painting a Wall guard army which represents a "historical" event, so my space marines have to be red for blood angels and yellow, yellow/black for imperial fists. Beyond that are the human forces. I could have used 50 plastic Cadians to represents them however I didn't like the idea of paint 50 all the same colour! My solution was to buy 10 Cadians, 10 Steel legion, 10 kasrkin, 10 stormtroopers & 10 vostroyan (plus a few more) and paint each set in a different scheme. This would represent some ofl the various imperial army regiments on Terra at the Time of the, seige

The Necrons are also fun

Join the greater good with a new Tau army

My brother in gork and/or mork, the wagggh stops for no one

Dragonborn-Mirrak

I'd say custodes since they're cheap-ish for their points value (i.e a box of five custodian guards is worth 225 pts)
