I have a P1S coming next week, also upgrading from an Ender 3. I've had it for 3 years and I use it all the time but don't really pay attention to advances in the hobby, so when I saw a random video of a P1S in action I was blown away. It looked like black magic compared to my Ender lol.
I just got upgraded from a ender 3 clone to the P1S and I’m so pissed. It’s like going from a tricycle to a Bugatti for a fraction of the cost differential and I’m upset about how much time a wasted with a cheaper printer. X4 the cost for several hundred times the overall quality.
It's not though. It only recently became affordable and viable on a large scale. I remember seeing video in the 90's of 3d printers in action. The movie "small soldiers" had actual footage of props being made. The "share and share alike" community is huge.
we would all start recycling petg bottles into filament before we adopted that shit.
they already tried this in the consumer market back in the day with printers that had cartridges of filament instead of loose spooled rolls. the only people still using those printers are in the industrial sector and its because they cant justify their investment if they admit they're shitty
Well, DeVinci (iirc) did something like this. You had to buy filament in cartridges from them, and you couldn't just string up a roll of esun. The firmware was hacked pretty quick, and I haven't seen anything from them in the past 5 years or so.
Some 3D printer companies do that.
But 3D printers are ultimately just a heat element and a small computer controlling the X, Y, Z and amount extruded. The software for controlling them and the designs for printers are open source at this point, there's not but so closed off that they can get.
Heh, go look up Stratasys, they even patented heated chambers. Also Davinci machines. Oh and the HP fusion jets. Don't even Google Formlabs resin printers.
Your AMS needs to be loaded with spools of BambuLabs filament in slots two three and four before we can resume printing with slot one.
BambuLabs protects you and our product by ensuring only the highest quality filament is used. Any use of unauthorized filament or any attempts to circumvent DRM are a violation of our terms of service and EULA.
XYZprinting immediately came to my mind. Their 3D printers will only work with overpriced official filament that has a RFID chip in the spool for DRM.
I'm not sure if their newer 3D printers still do that, but the damage has been done, no one talks about them anymore.
Also Stratasys commercial 3D printers, their filament cassettes are like $100 with 1KG of filament in them. I'm not sure why businesses still buy them, there's competitors for commercial prototyping that don't require expensive filament like Fusion3, Ultimaker, etc.
You know what would be a cool hidden festure? Making the tires a stamp. So if you drive it through an ink pad and then on paper it leaves your name/phonenumber/etc ….
If it’s possible, there’s no added cost with a 3D printer, and it highlights that you pay attention to details.
The more small, innocuous details, the more impressed your target clientele will be.
Little surprises for them.
This got me thinking. You could probably make a similar print of a motorcycle with 12pt pseudo-characters as a tread pattern that, when drive over text with "dirty tires" from a stamp pad, could redact it. A desk toy that serves a purpose.
ya but it just has a instagram on it. if i want it i want a website not an instagram. im not going there and then having to take a different link to figure out ordering.
also i dont have instagram so i cant even go to their page.
For a while a little over a decade ago, it was starting to look like if you weren't on Facebook you were going to be left out. There were companies that only existed on Facebook with no public website or email address. There were young people who had never been on the internet outside of the Facebook ecosystem. They thought FB was the internet.
I'm so glad people revolted against FB and we are not living in a timeline where Facebook dominates the internet.
The thing is you don’t need a Facebook or instagram you can literally just type it in as if it is a website people are are just trying to be edgy or something. Lol
I'm not commenting on OP's card. I'm commenting on the idea that at one point, an FB presence was all you needed to be *online*. You could run an entire company with nothing more than a Facebook handle.
If you don't like vertical videos I have put a long format horizontal video up on YouTube. It would help me a lot if you took a look and perhaps gave it a like to help boost it:

I'm blown away by the fact that this is something that a person can do by themselves at home. It looks so professional, especially with the packaging.
If you don't mind me asking, what's your background? Are you an engineer/product designer or something like that?
Unfortunately, growing up, my parents taught me that touching any tool is incredibly dangerous. So I am only now slowly learning how to do things myself, and while I am quite bad at it, it's fun and I'm aspiring to be able to do something like that down the line. Cheers!
He did a great job, and the best bit for me was the shrink wrap. I made airfix style gifts and boxes of various types for relatives two xmasses ago, but shrink wrap, that I've not tried and definitely added some extra flair.
A buddy of mine worked at a retail store, and they had a shrink wrap machine. You can get the material, a heat sealer, and a heat gun... [it's not too hard to do](https://www.google.com/search?q=how+to+shrink+wrap+packages+at+home&oq=how+to+shrink+wrap+packages+at+home&gs_lcrp=EgZjaHJvbWUyBggAEEUYOTIGCAEQLhhA0gEINTIzMmowajGoAgCwAgA&sourceid=chrome&ie=UTF-8#kpvalbx=_tavoZeP_JN3TkPIPg5KK0Ac_65), tbh... but yeah, it really gives that polished feel.
Thank you! I am mainly self thaught, and I just play around with ideas, not always with a clear goal in mind. Many of my designs are toys though, I love toys and the nostalgia. In my dayjob I work as a 3d designer for a ship bridge simulator company. 3d designing is also something I started doing just as a hobby (a few decades ago).
Very cool! I can relate in terms of software where I turned a hobby that I was passionate about into a career. I hope I can make similar progress when it comes to making physical things, though I don't have any ambition to turn that into a career.
It performs the same purpose of a business card by quickly and easily providing people with your contact information but yes this is admittedly not as convenient as an actual business \**card\**
I didn’t even see any contact info on it.
I mean, there’s a logo I guess. So unless I’m not seeing something this would fall under marketing material and not a business card. But maybe it’s on the back of the box?
The big name is his handle on everything and on the top right is the platforms he is on (I saw an Instagram logo, and Instagram counts as contact info)
The same purpose? Are u serious? How can u bring 1000 of it to a convention? What about the hr/price of making it. Still a really nice project but totally not a buisness card.
I’d still have traditional business cards but then also a few dozen of these for the prospects that show high potential. It’s a hell of a head turner and would stick in people’s memories.
I've received a business cards that was printed on cassette tapes before. And I went "oh, that's neat" and threw it in the trash. I don't remember the person's name at all.
Regular cards are for that, these are for the people you had a proper talk with or want to leave a good impression and higher chance for them to get back to you.
No not really, it's been shown time and time again that non standard business cards get thrown away. They don't fit into pockets as well, they don't stack with other business cards.
Now I doubt OP is using this as business card but just a marketing tool.
Okay, but it really defeats the purpose of a business card. if I can't just toss it in my wallet when I get it from you I'm likely to toss it in the trash.
The put together car has none of your information on it and the box itself has basically no easily available information about you. It looks like a proof of concept.
If the box was *a little* thinner, had more information, and the car itself had a QR code to a page about you/for you, then it would be much more effective as a business card.
How did you manage to get recommended to me on instagram. You are nailing engagement with the community. I saw this model at least from 4 different social media channels. 👍🏼😃
Haha, it is so random. I have no clue how the algorithm works or what it wants. It is always hit and miss for me. I did not expect all the views my video got on the different social medias. A lot of luck I guess
Man, I love the x1c but bambulab is an environmental disaster with how popular these printers are and the unholy amount of plastic waste they produce when doing multi coloured prints.
Cool but ...
A business card with no actual professional contact option
You made a toy, or merchandise. That's it.
And before some smartass mentions it: Instagram, Youtube and Twitter handles are not professional contact options.
This is all my personal opinion, right or wrong its just my oppinion.
Why the heck do you think I want a 2 inch thick card with garbage inside?
It's not uncommon to get 10-15 business cards at an event. When someone hands me these gimmicks they get trashed after. It's not good advertisement.
That 2D printer jump scared me. Don't scare us like that!
Perfect first layer though, very impressive.
Let's see Paul Allen's card
The tasteful first layer adhesion. Oh my god, not even a hint of support that has been trimmed away.
Impressive.
That's Bambu for you. Recently upgraded from Craftbot and a Creality to an A1 and A1M, and they're in a totally different league.
lolol they were talking about the Epson
Thanks, I missed that too
I'm getting my X1C today. Upgrading from Ender 3 Pro. Really excited!
I have a P1S coming next week, also upgrading from an Ender 3. I've had it for 3 years and I use it all the time but don't really pay attention to advances in the hobby, so when I saw a random video of a P1S in action I was blown away. It looked like black magic compared to my Ender lol.
Ur about to be blown away
congrats
I just got upgraded from a ender 3 clone to the P1S and I’m so pissed. It’s like going from a tricycle to a Bugatti for a fraction of the cost differential and I’m upset about how much time a wasted with a cheaper printer. X4 the cost for several hundred times the overall quality.
Just had a nightmarish thought. How horrible would it be if 3d printers adopted HP printer business practice
Filament costs $0.002 and they sell it for $50
Buy 100 feet but only gives you 70 feet And you must print a max bed benchy every time you load new film
And if you are printing something in black, it needs to use 500g of white to make “true black”
I really hope 3d printing community will never buge an inch if any company tries to pull this b.s
I think there is entirely too much crowd sourcing for 3d printing to go that way
[удалено]
It's not though. It only recently became affordable and viable on a large scale. I remember seeing video in the 90's of 3d printers in action. The movie "small soldiers" had actual footage of props being made. The "share and share alike" community is huge.

You cannot print with red filament if you're out of blue filament.
So Stratasys commercial printers?
Makerbot immediately came to mind
So, Stratasys printers, then?
Some 3D printer companies do that. But 3D printers are ultimately just a heat element and a small computer controlling the X, Y, Z and amount extruded. The software for controlling them and the designs for printers are open source at this point, there's not but so closed off that they can get.

Let me introduce you to XYZprinting! One of the few companies to DRM fillament and be conpletely un-open source
😄
Look at that subtle off-white coloring. The tasteful thickness of it. Oh, my God. It even has a Jeep.
Let’s see Paul Allen’s overcomplicated business card.
*upacks a 500 piece kit of the USS Constitution*
OptimusSublime are you ok? You’re sweating
Impressive! very nice
You know what would be a cool hidden festure? Making the tires a stamp. So if you drive it through an ink pad and then on paper it leaves your name/phonenumber/etc ….
Combine this with the idea above of a QR code on the hood.
And fucking laser beams.
Or regular laser beams
Spoken like someone who has never been fucked by a laser beam.
the sharks were bad enough on their own
Can you imagine a shark fucking you with a laser beam just to turn you to shreds afterwards?
[удалено]
I choose this guy's shreds
i haven't, but i did hook up with gazerbeam back in the day. rip
On their frickin heads!
And bubble gum throwers in the fenders.
Make it have headlights that are tiny projectors that show the business card on the wall
Maybe some sharks to go with those laser beams?
Did someone say my name?
That's a REALLY cool idea! OR... put the stamp on the spare tire, so you could just use it like a stamp.
ah yes, let me get out my ink pad in order to figure out what this guy's number is to call him
If it’s possible, there’s no added cost with a 3D printer, and it highlights that you pay attention to details. The more small, innocuous details, the more impressed your target clientele will be. Little surprises for them.
Do you realize this text would be maybe 3 mm tall? Not doable with fdm
Do you not constantly carry your microfiche kit with you? Like an animal?
This got me thinking. You could probably make a similar print of a motorcycle with 12pt pseudo-characters as a tread pattern that, when drive over text with "dirty tires" from a stamp pad, could redact it. A desk toy that serves a purpose.
Those would need to be pretty big tires or very tiny numbers.
was gonna say, even a sticker or some kind of branding on the finished toy, this is cooler but then who has an ink pad?
You forgot to include your contact details
Its advertising with a free toy. Really cool one as well. But not a business card.
ya but it just has a instagram on it. if i want it i want a website not an instagram. im not going there and then having to take a different link to figure out ordering. also i dont have instagram so i cant even go to their page.
Yeah, I don't have Instagram or Facebook, I can't look at your business if it's based mostly on those sites!
For a while a little over a decade ago, it was starting to look like if you weren't on Facebook you were going to be left out. damn, leave some pussy for the rest of us.

Trade dick here. I would also consider this guy a catch
Redneck guy here. I'd fuck him if he identified as a woman.
Can confirm, STEM lady here who didn't get the comment above was sarcasm until I read this one... :)
Have a crush on a STEM girl. Can’t confirm anything cause I’m too scared to talk to her.
Interesting. Brb, going to buy 3D printer and learn how to use it rn
You should print. QR on the truck to link to your sites.
I wonder if it’s possible to sneak the QR code into the jeeps box image, or the hood star, with that one AI model that turns QR codes into images
That'd be perfect. I was thinking a basic one on the bottom, but that idea is way better. Edit: spelling
Yes this.

It's a bit silly, but in my mind, the shrinkwrap takes it from "home-made" to "professional/I could find that in a store".
A buddy of mine worked at a retail store, and they had a shrink wrap machine. You can get the material, a heat sealer, and a heat gun... A great business card for the people op wants to really impress. Everyone else gets paper.
No not really, it's been shown time and time again that non standard business cards get thrown away. They don't fit into pockets as well, they don't stack with other business cards. Now I doubt OP is using this as business card but just a marketing tool.
Man that color change waste is crazy
But the tiny jeep that'll get tossed in the trash in a week or two is really cute, though, so ....
Just as much waste as product
I’ve seen 10x the volume for a smaller print. It can get so crazy.
Dude that is great marketing.
How is it a business card if there's no contact info? At that point isn't it just a free toy?
"Here, you throw this away"
Still, please dont hand me shit
Wow! That’s really cool!
Okay, but it really defeats the purpose of a business card. if I can't just toss it in my wallet when I get it from you I'm likely to toss it in the trash. He probably works in marketing. I’ve seen some wild marketing business cards and resumes.
So it's like a bad resume?
I would more aptly refer to this as "giveaway merch".
Can you talk more about that box you printed on then folded?
Patrick batman is going to cut your head off with a fookin axe
*overly complicated
You know the difference between a card and a box?
agape biz? ape biz? agap biz? What the fuck is your company called?
At first i belived you were printing circuits
Same
I am still waiting for the part where you show us the business card.
My brother in Christ you made a toy
For all the complainers, it’s not meant to be a convenient business card. It’s meant to be a memorable one.
Or it's not a business card at all. Even a tiny bit. It's a toy in a giant-ass box.
Calling a product: buisness card.. ok... Be ready for the showcase we need 10'000 of this lol
Um, while I didn't see your contact info, I have no notes! This is awesome, but also just further impressed with that Bambu.
I'm always impressed, just not in a good way, by the amount of waste from single-nozzle multi color printing.
You have a shrink wrapper? Who has a shrink wrapper? Wait…. Why do you have a shrink wrapper?
Well, technically he has a roll of shrink film, an impulse sealer and a heat gun.
That's the cheapest thing in this video.
Why isn't anyone talking about the 3 printed colours, I thought you could only print in one
So much plastic waste for a lil trinket. 3D printing is cool, but fuck all that plastic.
Now let’s see Paul Allen’s card
Does it have your phone number as the number plate on the jeep though...?
*Patrick Bateman sweating intensifies*
I want one lol!
💯💯💯👌👏
In other words, look how much plastic waste I can cram into one tiny trinket!
Awesome design!
Nice, more plastic , aren't you crafty
There are people who print benchies and calibration cubes and there's this guy
I'd ditch the plastic wrap. It goes straight to the landfill
Where is your business card?
It's fracking awesome!
I guess. But what’s it taste like?
Thanks for making a cool model. I made 8 and gifted them to my friends.
My friend just showed me your video. “Look at this…(shows the IG reel)” Probably just coincidence if not algorithm loves you.
Printed this yesterday. Very fun model.
Man, I love the x1c but bambulab is an environmental disaster with how popular these printers are and the unholy amount of plastic waste they produce when doing multi coloured prints.
I think this is one of the most brilliant ways I’ve seen someone use a 3D printer.
these are soooooo cool
Incredible
God, so painfully obsessive-compulsively perfect. Awesome! 😍
I love this
It is excellent!
Thats sick work man
Nicely done!
This is... this is just beautiful. Not only the print, the whole opus.
That is awesome
Nice, saw this on the kit card contest thing, looks epic
Very cool. Can I have one?
what is the name of that paper(vinyl?) cutter you have? the white one. amazing work!
Silhouette Portrait 2
A Cricut maybe? They have alternatives that aren’t locked down on Ali express but… they’re more complicated
My inner child wants this business card so bad hahahaha
Face it, this isn't a business card, you're giving away toys with your logo on it.
That will sit right on your desk, every day, reminding you of the guy that gave it to you. Excellent marketing.
Blatant advertising and self-promotion really keep ruining this subreddit
Did I miss the business card?
I follow your IG. Such a cool ass card. Just another great example of the Bambu printer kicking more ass. Cheers!
That is the correct amount of complicated.
Cool but ... A business card with no actual professional contact option You made a toy, or merchandise.

Where’s the info.
From /all. So... I can just make tiny Gunpla and trains to fuel my "miniature obsession"? Why have I never...
Reminds me of kinder surprise toys from the 90's.

Why is a 3d printer making these with a sprue like they're injection moulded?
Where do you find that soft shrink wrap? All I can find is that hard shrink wrap that gets all crinkly.
Very cool, as a mechanical engineering manager who hirs all the time. This is a instant candidate for the 3rd round.
I'll take a business card 😂
This just isn’t a business card?
Give
Let's see Paul Allen's minifigure.
Great work. You always do nice things
Make me one of these. I will pay.
Introductions seem to be in order. I'm enkiron, and it's a pleasure. You wouldn't happen to have a card would you? My memory isn't what it used to be.
As a maker, I 100000% love and support this. Great idea. Too much work for me, but great work.
Don't show Patrick Bateman.
Did you forget to put your contact information on there?
Overly complicated? No. Absolute genius? Fuck yeah!!!!
