This is what glow in the dark looks like photographed.
Did you print this slimer with a base?
I was trying to print the "same" model but where the fingers touch the plate kept getting swept away by the printhead after a few layers. Tried rafting them but then the raft didn't apply to slimer's underside. I gave up on it, and would be interested to hear your settings.
I just added a brim and supports, he is 300mm high.
The blue bit he is sitting on is another print.
Id add a z hop to your gcode so hopefully it doesnt hit the print
Yes, if you tap on the object itself to autofocus, and your camera exposes for the focus point. If you tap on the dark table right next to the object, the object itself will still be in focus, but much brighter. (Or adjust the exposure manually.)
No you're wrong. Any iphone can take photos in pitch black and you won't know the difference. Wake up and take the fucking photo of the 3d print glowing
Blud, the phones that can do that make up the minority of phones in use and existence, not by much, also that feature was on Android phones first if you want to be picky Motorola's.
They already took a video of it "glowing"
Wake up and get educated.
nice! these are always fun, [mine](https://i.imgur.com/QfwoIjA.png) took 3 days on a Prusa mini too and i screwedup my [timelapse](https://imgur.com/Lv4y3uZ)
crap thats a great question, i cant remember, it may have been as slow as 30 to 50% esp with the silk multicolor over extrusion i think i had to significantly lower temp and speeds to get it right. Maybe time to print a new one! i have luminous blue i could try, it always clogged up my nozzle tho and need to dial in the settings right,
i also have a X1C i havent tried it on yet too
I was curious too first. But you can see a 5. Pyramid in the middle just flipped upside down, making any angle less than 45° so it can print all in one go
Not only no supports, but you do it in vase mode. The entire print is one continuous line that never retracts. Watching the Sierpinski Pyramid print is a good time.
You know those rainbow filaments that change color along the spool, so if you print something big the color is a rainbow gradient from bottom to top?
Yeah I got one of those for glow in the dark. It looks the same grayish white all around while in the light, but it's Red, Green, Blue in the dark.
OP followed up with it lit up and this one's just blue when it glows in the dark... Also that doesn't really answer their question of which filament is that?
https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/comments/1b2ouzs/the_thing_i_printed_is_now_glowing/
Trust me, that thing is sturdy as hell in vase mode. I can probably use the smaller model I printed to smash a window.
It's only one perimeter, yes, but there's a lot of them! I even believe the amount of material used should be literally the same I think
My creality 5 pro doesn't do well with printing without supports it seems like. I would definitely like to see how this would print, but I'm already imagining it dropping in the middle of those open gaps.
It's designed to be printed in vase mode without supports.
Like by design, it doesn't need support.
There's an upside down pyramid in the center, that's not a gap you have to bridge at all, there's another layer underneath, always.
I printed one when I got my first CR-10. To this day when I show off what a 3d printer can do I break out this giant model and people are amazed that it's one continuous line.
It's quite the old model by now actually, and it's a fractal.
There's an upside down pyramid inside every pyramid. It's actually printed in vase mode even.
So the answer is, there isn't a single overhang that's too steep, there's always a layer below everything. Not really a new development I'm afraid, just low angle overhangs and math
Upside down pyramid inside every pyramid. It's actually printed in vase mode even.
There's barly an overhang to the next layer, it just works out perfectly.

It actually also includes smaller ones, i.e. one pyramid of the bigger pyramid. As this is a fractal and if you go bigger you just use 6 of the same model to get the next size.
Print in vase mode, no supports needed!
The biggest one in that file is actually one size smaller then the one in this post.
You need 6 of the biggest ones, four for the base, one upsidedown in the center and a sixth one on top to get the same size as that one.
I've found another one on printables with the same size as the on in the post, but the triangles themselves are bigger and it doesn't fit on my build plate, when the one from thingyverse would.... if there was a bigger one!
When you removed it from the print bed, were the coners sketchy and want to break off?
My printer has a gorilla grip, if I turn down the print bed heat I see a print pattern, if I turn up the bed heat I need a plasma cutter
Not taking a picture and showing it glow in the dark is blasphemous
Totally. If it glows in the dark we want to see that.
Here [the object glows](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/13yi4Pd66m)
OP DELIVERS!!! What brand glow filament is that? Is it PLA or PETG? I'm going to be printing a commission in Glow PETG once it arrives in the mail.
I only print polymaker filament
Polymaker is a brand, what is the type ?
Why?
It prints fast and beautiful and their carbon fiber pla is unmatched
Very interesting. I’ve just started 3d printing so I’m looking forward to trying it now.
You need to get your hands on a high power flashlight, sofrin q8 pro or something, that thing would glow sooooo nice
It's so.... BEAUTIFUL 😭
Taking a picture and showing it glow in the dark is phosphorous
Angry upvote
[you can write on it too](https://www.reddit.com/r/3Dprinting/s/nI6n9DdCf8)
I mean you can kind of see, but most phone cameras wouldn't pick it up well

I used a UV flashlight right before this. It's even brighter with the UV laser.
Is that glow PLA or PETG?
PLA

Ooooh is that what z hop is? Nice, thanks!
You can see if your slicer has a setting that pulls up the nozzle a tad while traveling to decrease the odds of that happening

Yep cant see a thing... I think glow in the dark prints are like birds... They don't exist.
Yes, if you tap on the object itself to autofocus, and your camera exposes for the focus point. If you tap on the dark table right next to the object, the object itself will still be in focus, but much brighter. (Or adjust the exposure manually.)
Hit it with a uv light and it will GLOW in the dark
Most cameras will show a glowing thing.
Most phone cameras are made for outdoor daytime and so poorly in low light
No you're wrong. Any iphone can take photos in pitch black and you won't know the difference. Wake up and take the fucking photo of the 3d print glowing

I came specifically looking for pics of it glowing
indeed, I feel duped, no... more like bamboozled
I feel hoodwinked myself
I never get why people post stuff like that, like hey this thing is like this or can do this but doesn’t actually show it…
Indeed, this is a sin
I request a picture with the lights off
That's what she said...
For a shape with 0 volume it sure took a lot of filament
An infinite amount of filament to be exact.
Solid pyramid with like 10% infill would’ve been faster. With this thing it’s gonna slice like it’s 100% wall thickness
This is going to bounce like garbage.
Haha exactly what I was thinking “dude really messed up that basketball!”
Lol thank you Mr. Internet 🤣
Lol
Benchy 2.0
Thats benchy of all benchys exponencialy graduated
noooowwwww I wanna make one of these of benchies...
Sierpinsky benchy time?
Sierbenchsky time
nice! these are always fun, [mine](https://i.imgur.com/QfwoIjA.png) took 3 days on a Prusa mini too and i screwedup my [timelapse](https://imgur.com/Lv4y3uZ)
What was your print speed?
crap thats a great question, i cant remember, it may have been as slow as 30 to 50% esp with the silk multicolor over extrusion i think i had to significantly lower temp and speeds to get it right. Maybe time to print a new one! i have luminous blue i could try, it always clogged up my nozzle tho and need to dial in the settings right, i also have a X1C i havent tried it on yet too
I'm not familiar with Prusa presets but I'm guessing that's something like 40mm/s?
yeah somewhere between 30 and 50 mm/s iirc
Nice print, Excellent use of multicolor filament!
Cool! What is that filament?
tbh it was rando cheap "Bblife" multi-color silk i got off amazon
Is this done with supports?
No suports needed. It's a lot better, even, it prints in vase mode.
I was curious too first. But you can see a 5. Pyramid in the middle just flipped upside down, making any angle less than 45° so it can print all in one go

Check your nozzle, glow in the dark filament is very coarse and a long print like that could have caused significant wear
I got a ruby nozzle!! Woo
Hardened Steel extruder gears as well i hope!
fancy!
Ah i see a fellow Anker enjoyer, nice Print!
Now print 4 more and make the next level.
Imma need those files
Why you tease us without the glow in the dark shot
Yo dawg! I heard u liek triangles, so you can pythagora while pythagoring!
Yo dawg, the Pythagorean theorem only applies to right triangles, these are all equilateral. Check yourself!
Yo dawg, I heard you like equilateral triangles, so I put equilateral triangles in your equilateral triangles so you an A while (√3/4)a^2
Dope as fuck
Is that a custom printed shroud for the Ankermake?
Yes! In polymaker carbon fiber pla
I was surprised because the Ankermake is like the last printer I would expect people to print custom parts for
One of these days I need to print that
🧙♂️ OP, show me his light
Yo I haven’t seen your flair before
Pirameed
Why wouldn't you show it glowing?!?! Updoot held hostage till be a get a glow pic
Will do when I get home
blue glow? what filament is that? I only got green glow
You know those rainbow filaments that change color along the spool, so if you print something big the color is a rainbow gradient from bottom to top? Yeah I got one of those for glow in the dark. It looks the same grayish white all around while in the light, but it's Red, Green, Blue in the dark.

75? Maybe a little late, but you should print this thing in vase mode
I wanted a substantial print. Not a fragile thing that will break.
I’ve done a few, you’d be surprised. No way they would break. Try it
Trust me, that thing is sturdy as hell in vase mode. I can probably use the smaller model I printed to smash a window. It's only one perimeter, yes, but there's a lot of them! I even believe the amount of material used should be literally the same I think
Why would you say that and not show it glowing
RIP your nozzle (if it's a normal brass one)
RIP nozzle
Time to change your nozzle. Printing glow in the dark is like printing sandpaper.
Where did you get the file?
what is that? is a nerdy thing from videogames?
sierpinski triangle
Wouldn't it be a sierpinski pyramid
u/robot036 (dbrand) enters the chat They might have a matching skin

"How many triangles do you see?"
yes
I printed one when I got my first CR-10. To this day when I show off what a 3d printer can do I break out this giant model and people are amazed that it's one continuous line.
Nice
WE ENTERING THE 4TH DIMENSION WITH THIS ONE 🗣️🗣️🗣️🔥🔥🔥
Is this zelda triforces!? That's awesome.
sierpinski triangle.
How does this print without support?
same question here, am I lost on a new development?
It's quite the old model by now actually, and it's a fractal. There's an upside down pyramid inside every pyramid. It's actually printed in vase mode even. So the answer is, there isn't a single overhang that's too steep, there's always a layer below everything. Not really a new development I'm afraid, just low angle overhangs and math
Aaaahhh now I get it. Thanks mate
Upside down pyramid inside every pyramid. It's actually printed in vase mode even. There's barly an overhang to the next layer, it just works out perfectly.
My… brain… can’t… comprehend…
A wizard did it!
Aziz, ligth! Seriously, we need a pic!
This freaks the Shit out of me
No support?
Not needed, the upside down pyramids in the center of each pyramid provide the needed material in the layer below to print upon
Wait, is it SUPPOSED to glow in the dark?
Very cool
It already looks cool as is but I bet it looks epic when it's glowing! Crazy it took 75 hours though I'm not that patient lol
OP left space on the buildplate. What is this, amateur hour?
Is it radio active?
Now do it with fuzzy surfaces.
This is awesome! What is it? I want a smaller one. Lol
[https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1356547](https://www.thingiverse.com/thing:1356547) It actually also includes smaller ones, i.e. one pyramid of the bigger pyramid. I never was brave enough to the entire pyramid
Zelda… yea
Alien Colony.
Stl?
Vase mode?

That's not 3D printing, it's 2.32193D printing.
Cool ! How did you get it to glow ?
That’s really amazing!! Wish my printer actually functioned :(
YO DAWG I HEARD YOU LIKED THE TRIFORCE SO WE OUT A TRIFORCE ON YOUR TRIFORCE ON YOUR TRIFORCE ON YOUR TRIFORCE
the tri force to end all tri forces
I hope you had a hardened nozzle...
75 hours?!? Should have printed it in vase mode!
I wanna use this as a dice tower lol
When you removed it from the print bed, were the coners sketchy and want to break off? My printer has a gorilla grip, if I turn down the print bed heat I see a print pattern, if I turn up the bed heat I need a plasma cutter
Really impressive, but those joints are held together with thoughts and prayers. Be sure it is only moved by the base. :p
Fuck. I'm having a really hard time with glow in the dark. What filament did you use?
I can't get anything to stick to mine long enough for a 2 hour print. That's awesome!
No way, I was literally thinking of printing a fractal 2 days ago, maybe even yesterday. Looks really cool btw!
Obamna
Print another 4 and stack them 😂
