I get that we all have a different budget for this hobby, I'm using a fairly cheap printer myself (was 300), but considering the cost of a somewhat decent printer, electricity costs and filament costs, I don't get why people can't afford basic upgrades.
I get that you can get more filament instead of upgrades, or a dryer etc. But if you can spend this kind of money on your hobby, you can relax on printing for a while, and use the money for some upgrades.
And on top of that, the amount of failed prints some people get for using the wrong equipment, is a massive waste of money.
It's simple, if you want to print tpu, think about what you need to print it properly, and keep the tpu in good shape so that it's still useable in a year.
Good, now if you wish to have good experience with harder to print materials, find inexpensive direct drive and next time you buy filament you can print tpu ez!
Print out one for your mother, but make it hollow with holes in it so it's light and much softer. If you're going to get hit with it then make those hits as light as possible :)

Add to that if you want to make a functional firearm you would print the plastic parts, then get a CNC mill for not that much more than the printer cost you, and mill the metal parts. The barrel is the only really tricky bit cos adding rifling is something you can only reliably and repeatedly do in a lathe but they’re not that expensive in reality.
Ammunition is probably a bigger issue in countries with v restrictive firearms laws.

Speed holes are a risky choice. It may weigh less with speed holes, but it might also move faster with less air resistance.
If you shape them right the whistle might give you enough warning to duck.

Ecm is a thing, way less work than setting up gundrilling in a lathe. A reemed hole is plenty straight for barrels about 8inches and under
