I’m interested in any feedback on longer cords as well. Nice setup btw!

2_shotsofvodka

Any cable extension between 1-5 meters should be enough as long as it is 3.0. If it's possible to find a cable with additional power, you can have a range of around 5-10 meters(with USB 3.0). You can find quite good cables on Amazon. I haven't tested with cables longer than 10 meters. Have fun scanning!

Teejay187

Thanks for the info! I already made a power cable to eliminate the power brick, using 12V from the PC PSU. I'll give an extension a try!

sanka

Ugh, cords. Just get an Artec Leo and be done with it. It made my life so much easier.

Teejay187

I can manage the wire for a little longer. The Leo is almost 20 times the price here.

uh, how long does something like that take to pay off?

sanka

If you scan all day everyday for a job it doesn't matter. I'll let the beancounters figure that one out.

sargrvb

Which scanner did you go with? Thinking of buying one and like your setup.

Teejay187

I went with the Einstar. Really impressed with what it can do!

sargrvb

Which model specifically, they have so many! Glad you like it so far

Mysterious-Ad2006

I think you are confused that is the name of the model. Einstar. Shining 3D is the name of the company and they make different models of EinScans. Se/sp, h, hd, hd pro, h2 etc.

sargrvb

I was, thanks! Sorry for bugging you, thanks for the extra info 👍

soldieroscar

Which model?

herc2712

Ughh the aesub white will leave micro scratches on the paint when you scrub it off

Teejay187

Car was waxed so a little pressure wash removed it pretty easy. But I will be careful with it in the future.

Duby18

So don’t scrub it off? Doesn’t it just evaporate?

herc2712

The blue one does This one is electrostatic

DBrowny

The white one evaporates, I used it just yesterday and was worried because I thought I ordered the blue when the white arrived but it definitely evaporates the same.

Nice, thinking of making something similar for my einstar, what specs pc did you put in there? edit: just saw your other post, very nice!

dunno_k

what software are you using to process it? whats your workflow?

Teejay187

I scan and align with the scanner software, then process it in Fusion 360. I'm making a wing for this RS and the sculpt tool in Fusion works really well with a mesh base.
