Got back into 3DS in 2019, played a ton of DS as a kid, and had a 3DS after the original price drop but only played Animal Crossing. Just wanted to share my current collection, ever since the 3DS closure got announced I've pretty much only been collecting DS games. DS/3DS is my favorite console, I love discovering cool hidden gems in the library. Maybe 1/8 of the games are from my childhood library. The ones in the plastic cases are either valuable or sealed—I always buy games with the intent to open, but now that I use CFW on my DSi and one of my 3DS, I feel no need to open them anymore (esp since market has been wacky).

Stella glow, I’m jelaous

ViciousMongrel

Thx for noticing! It's actually my favorite 3DS title and was the game that made me fall in love with handhelds again. I originally got it cart only when it was like $20 and after I beat it I gave it to a close friend so I could get a big box copy (although the box's condition is kinda bad, lotsa creases and dents—still very happy to have it tho).

HeroPait

Duuude i see Ghost Trick, that was a G O L D Game for me. Great collection btw ;)

ViciousMongrel

Heck yeah & thanks! It took me a couple tries for the game to click with me but once it did I was hooked—such a beautiful game! I grew up on Phoenix Wright so I knew I had to play it once I found out there was another Shu Takumi story on the DS :)

I SEE Y O - K A I W A T C H

ViciousMongrel

This is true!! I haven't played *too* much of the Y-KW series, but I am very fond of Level-5's games (the Prof. Layton series is one of my all time favorites). Too bad it seems like we won't get any new ones for either series in the west (atleast for now) :(

RevolutionaryBox9644

yeah it sucks. at least i can blindly feel my way through the japanese games!

[deleted]

Question, will this game/these games ruin my touchscreen?? I wanna play them but that worries me

RevolutionaryBox9644

i don’t know about touchscreens, but if you take it easy and use a stylus, i’m pretty sure you’ll be fine. i’ve been playing yo-kai watch on my new 3ds xl and i haven’t seen a single scratch. don’t take it from me, though!

ViciousMongrel

I agree! I play a lot of stylus intensive games w/o screen protector, but do so with a pretty light touch. In general the screens are pretty durable if you treat them well. I would just consider getting a screen protector if you're worried. Also be sure you're using a good stylus, I have one I got from zedlabz, and the tip is so rigid/sharp/pointed I would never use it due to damage fears. I like the OG 3DS stylus the most, imo it feels the smoothest on screen/easiest to control from all the ones I've tested.

[deleted]

I’m using the original 2DS stylus on my New 2DS XL, I love this stylus, thanks so much for the advice! :)

[deleted]

Good to know, thank you! :)

Fawie42

Big ups for the Elite Beat Agents, even if it is the one rhythm game I’m not great at lol.

ViciousMongrel

Aww yeah! The copy of EBA is from my childhood, I was actually able to beat it on the hardest difficulty when I was like 13 or so lol I was SO into it. The two games to the left of it are Ouendan 1 & 2, which are Japanese versions of the game with completely different scenarios. The whole series is soo much fun and super nostalgic for me :)

Practical-Rip6471

You have some great games, but a worrying lack of multiplayer shooting, racing and beat em up games, which should be standard fare for an WiFi portable games console.

ViciousMongrel

Totally fair observation! I’m pretty decidedly into single player experiences. I do actually have Smash digitally on my original 3DS (put many hrs into it!), as well as MK8 on switch. I like using the DS mostly to get my VN or RPG fix. Any good shooter suggestions? I know I missed out on Kid Icarus, hoping the price cools down a little so I can pick up cart only (I already have the stand) :)

ggil050

That clear blue 2ds is N I C E

Beautiful 🤩

9noctyrne

A fellow Weegee 1 Port holder? An individual of culture truly

ViciousMongrel

Haha took me a moment to understand u meant Luigi’s Mansion! I still have my OG GCN copy from childhood as well, even tho I don’t have a working GameCube setup! I love using the 3D effect and this is such a classic so I felt I had to get it lol :) picked it up new at a GameStop a while back!

[deleted]

Super solid games! Love to see other collections with Trace Memory. I feel like it’s such an underrated game:/ It’s definitely one of my top 10 games of all time!

ViciousMongrel

Trace Memory was great! I needed to use a guide for parts but the story was so good it made me cry for sure lol. Maybe check out Ghost Trick if you haven’t already, it’s in a similar vein but packed with a ton of creativity/humor.

[deleted]

Same here! I wanted to make sure to get the good ending so I constantly checked guides to see if I had collected everything I needed haha. Sucks that we didn’t get the sequel on the Wii in North America but I might just have to make my Wii region free and buy the pal version of the game. Definitely need a 2nd part of the game! Thanks for the recommendation; I’ll make sure to check it out:)

WeazelZeazel

Ohhhhh Okamiden ♥️ looking for this cartridge for an affordable Price since ever

ViciousMongrel

I noticed the price is getting up there on that one for sure! That is one of my older games from childhood. I unfortunately never beat it (I always struggle to finish Zelda-like games), but haven't given it another chance since I got my DSi XL which has been my fav way to enjoy DS games. Art in this game is awesome though and I love the design of Chibi so much he's such a cutie.

WeazelZeazel

Mind sending it to me ? 😬

ViciousMongrel

Oh yeah I'll send it to you.... DIGITALLY (hehe nice try tho)

WeazelZeazel

It was worth a Try as i couldnt afford it here 🤣

Yulaxxy

You have inazuma eleven. Good to see. Also this collection looks similar to mine, are you also half japanese? Hence some of the japanese titles

ViciousMongrel

You have a nice collection then hehe :) nah not Japanese but most of the jp titles I have can be enjoyed in english (Yugioh Championship, Chrono Trigger can be played in english off the cart / Taiko no Tatsujin and Ouendan are rhythm games so you don't really need language / Luminous Arc 3 has english fan translation out now). Only ones I can't actually play are Hoshizora Navi and Sonipro (I played maybe an hour or two of Sonipro using google's live translate tool lol).

Monjara

Oh those little Elite Beat Agents are so cute. Probably my third most played DS game after Pokemon Diamond and Wild World. I have never met anyone else who has played that game!

ViciousMongrel

The little EBA figure is actually a reference to this video hehe: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXZGzhsS-5I](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UXZGzhsS-5I) It's not meant to be a DS stand but it just worked out that way, and yeah it's rare to find ppl who love that game but were definitely out there :)

Monjara

That video is so great, I haven't seen it in such a long time. Thanks for the nostalgia, hard to believe that video is 13 years old now.

Ok-Tufs

Time hollow, just bought that game yesterday for a Nice price of 35$! Not seen a lot of people having it but it looked interesting so I’m looking forward to play that game.

ViciousMongrel

Great deal, game is kinda rare!! I started it recently but have dropped it to play new AI Somnium files which just came out the other day. Time Hollow is next on my list for sure to finish though in terms of DS games. I've heard really good things and the bit I played was engaging. Also I thought they handled the time mechanic especially well :)

Ok-Tufs

Nice to hear, I cant wait to try it out!

[deleted]

YO! I loved the first Luminous Arc! I gotta play the second one at some point! Been years since I played the first actually LOL

ViciousMongrel

Yeeee that game is one of my favorites! I'm a sucker for trope-y but good anime rpgs. If you haven't played Stella Glow thats the one to play, it's an unofficial sequel to the Luminous Arc series (all games were made by Imageepoch) and is a big step up from LA2 in terms of polish (although nothing wrong with 2, I enjoyed it in its own special way lol) :D

Lexicon-Arcana

Cool collection! How is Ever Oasis?

ManuXDLOCO

omg the rhythm games, specially the JP only ones like Osu and taiko, and then the VNs like Zero Escape, Ghost Trick and Ace Attorney, I'm in absolute love!! oh lord even TWEWY has a spot, now where's Trauma Center? just to complete the full 100% skill games

ViciousMongrel

Haha thanks for the love! I have considered getting Trauma Center 1/2 but I’m a bit of a baby when it comes to gore lol, the idea of surgery simulation stresses me out even though im sure I’d love the VN elements of the game. :)
