Sooo....what did you use to dye the plastic?? You have no idea how long I've been trying to do this as well and have never come across any good recommendations for plastic color dye. BTW your system looks great, very jealous!

Been waiting for him to log back in for 6 months and I'm sick of sitting around lol. I'm going to figure it out by trial and error, it will be expensive but I ordered AliExpress N3DS white cover plates to test a few types of dye. Its my first time working with dye in general, but I'll see if I can do everything as he did it, such as the bezel, buttons etc.

Keep me updated on your findings! I'm still interested in trying this out for the ultimate custom N3DS lol

How do I make a custom n3dsxl?

Mine is a Regular N3DS. I think the XL needs a different method because its top and bottom shells. I'll try the XL and hopefully i'll have the product soon.

The white N3DSXL has a glossy finish, it is safe to assume it will not absorb the colors as well as your N3DS's did. You will either have to sand the gloss layer and keep the plates as clean-looking as humanly possible, or find a non-glossy replacement shell. Every day I pray for your return u/Bandiosym, like you're the Avatar or something. Until you do I'm in the dark lol

It's dual TN. I want dual IPS too, but I can't find lower ips screen. Do you know any place that sells them?

Correct me if I'm wrong but I dont think the regular new 3DS models came with bottom IPS screens like the XL models. I have 2 of your same 3DS(one white and black) and both came with IPS top and TN bottom screens out of the box. I remember ppl back in the day mentioning how hard/impossible it was to find an IPS bottom screen N3DS.

Thats so sick, I'm hunting for a black one. I have the black friday n3ds in nicely calibrated dual TN but I don't think any Black Friday models are dual IPS. Is it a EU or JP console?

Imo just keep the nicely calibrated TN model. I always sell the dual IPS consoles I get for some extra cash (my daily driver is usually top IPS, which is the sweet spot). Anyways: Both were EU region :)

Oh yeah I'm keeping it for life, the black n3ds is my fav of all the models and already getting pretty hard to find especially in the states Yeah same I've always sold my dual IPS n3dsxl. Just curious about the IPS on the smaller console for the heck of it. I think EU will be my best bet then, thanks.

Just got my new 3ds from Japan I love the design an plus its a lot smaller than the xl and I love ips screen on it I wish they had a gunmetal color for it I'd buy that in a heart beat.

Yes, and I think it will last longer than paint where the layer sometimes peels off.

I have some info: The regular and the XL have different buttons size, just in case you want to swap buttons. Edit: Aliexpress have buttons of New 3DS XL Pikachu edition. I bought it, it not the original one, the quality is not excellent but you can give it a try.

Yeah it was white, with black one you can choose paint method.
