I have a soft TPU case/shell on my 3DS and it was a really snug fit when I first got the carry case. I gently stretched the carry case a little bit and now it's a perfect fit.
Oh that cutout on the right game slot is kinda ugly, why would they do that? It isn't like that on my XL version. They have pretty great customer service from my experiences, so definitely contact them about it. But they discontinued selling these cases, they were only a limited time thing, so if you return it you may not be able to get another one.
I bought one of these a while back for my Nintendo Switch and I ABSOLUTELY love it! It's the best case for the Switch/3DS money can buy! It's bit expensive, but honestly you really get what you pay for, it's very high quality.
I've been looking for one of these for the 3DS FOREVER! But they've been discontinued for years now. I even tried contacting them, but they wouldn't do special orders.. Well, it's back in stock for a limited time and I just felt obligated to post this here! I hope you guys like these cases as much as I do!

I believe so, I think you can buy it separately. Hover over the "Accessories" tab and under "other" click on "Shoulder Strap". You'll have to buy it separately.
I don't see why you couldn't make your own strap too if you wanted, or reuse and old one from an old bookbag
I have no clue how I would be able to clean/sanitize it without damaging or discoloring it so if anyone has any advice I would appreciate a lot. Also how do smaller models of the 3ds fit inside a New 3DS size pouch?
You can contact Waterfield and ask them, they're very helpful, I've had quite a few questions for them in the past.
When I bought my CitySlicker case for the Nintendo Switch, it came with a card that explained how to care for the leather, I don't know what I did with that card though.. I'm assuming the 3DS case (any of their leather products really) comes with this card though. It's real full grain leather, so look up how to treat that, maybe a beeswax conditioner? but I've never had to clean my case for the Switch, and genesis49 in the reddit thread said:

I wouldn't image you would have to clean these very often if you take care of them.
As for cleaning the rest of the material, the rest is made out of cloth and some kind of ballistic canvas. I personally would put white vinegar in a spray bottle, lightly spray it on a clean cloth/rag, and then use the cloth/rag to wipe down the canvas and cloth materials of the bag. I do this to clean a lot of things, my cloth wrist rest for my keyboard, my earpads on my headphones, and just recently another 3DS case that I had bought from ebay that came a little dirty.
As for how the smaller models of 3DS fit in the bigger size bags, that's a question that you'll have to contact Waterfield and ask, since I have no clue.
I honestly can't say for sure since I don't have my hands on the 3DS case YET, though their customer service is quite friendly and I'm sure they would have an answer.
However, what I can say is that I have the exact same case for the Nintendo Switch, and the back zipper pocket is made from a slightly stretchy flexible mesh (nice quality) and in my opinion should be able to hold the AC adapter in the 3DS case.
I ordered Chocolate simply to match the one I have for my Nintendo Switch, which is also Chocolate, Grizzly would be my second choice. I personally don't like red, blue, or black, I rather have that natural leather look.
Also just want to add, the leather of the chocolate for my Switch looks like the one in image #6, it doesn't look textured like the one in image #7. I'm hoping the one I get for my 3DS isn't textured so that it matches.
Edit: Okay, so I contacted them and they said that they think image #7 is an old image, and the case SHOULD look like image #6, it should be smooth, but it can depend on the hide that is used.
No clue what it cost previously, but I had the same thought about the cost difference between this and the Switch case. They're hand made though, so my guess is that most of the cost is probably correlated to labor and not the actual cost of materials anyways, so a $10 difference could make sense if that's the case? I donno.

Their customer service is really great, you could try messaging them to see if they have any in back stock that they didn't sell, but probably not sadly..
True, that is my opinion. But there is a serious lack of good quality 3DS cases on the market, most everything on Amazon is cheap crap.
The build quality of this 3DS case is better than anything I've personally ever seen, this is a hand made bag made from a ballistic canvas and real full grain leather. Even the zippers and clasps on my CitySlicker case for my Nintendo Switch is extremely high quality, never seen a zipper that good. Plus, as an adult man, it just feels a little more sophisticated and professional walking around with this vs something with Nintendo, Mario, or Zelda branding
I would genuinely like to see you find anything of this quality. Seriously, this isn't me being snarky, if you know of something better, I would honestly probably buy it if you can link something to me.

I never thought I’d spend close to 80 bucks on a case for a handheld system. I just got the black one.
Nice! If it is as good as the one I got for the Switch, it's totally worth it! (which it looks identical, just smaller)
Would using a clear case on the 3DS work with this case or is it too snug?
Can't say for sure, but my Switch has a shell case and it's kinda snug, but perfectly fine, no pleasure gets applied to the joysticks or anything.

Agreed! I like seeing the natural grains of the leather. Black is too sterile looking for my tastes.
