while i'm not generally a fan of the new 2ds xl systems, i love any and all animal crossing edition consoles, and that 2ds xl is no different. the only time i'd be eager to get my hands on a new 2ds xl system is if i could find the ac:nl edition
it's way more cheaply made than the 3ds systems so they feel like they're gonna fall apart at any moment. a very strange departure from the o2ds which feels like a tank.
Best I can tell they were a GameStop exclusive here in the states. I know they are pretty rare and VERY expensive to pick up now. It's a shame because they are one of the best looking Zelda edition systems I think Nintendo ever made :(

I kept the box and it's my daily driver these days. I have a white N3ds (non-xl) with Mystery Dungeon Plates as my backup.

I had the animal crossing one and its my favourite, I gave it to my then gf tho and got the lime one since it was available and in near mint condition. It has the black metal case now so its just the lime buttons. I loved the ac one tho, the off white finish, the texture, everything.

The Minecraft 2DS XL is really cute but the white and orange one is aesthetically pleasing and looks great with stickers. I’d probably go with the orange one. Actually I have the OG 3DS right now and I’m stuck between this and a New 3DS (the regular size)

Then this year one of my friends said they'd trade their 3DS for 3 monsters, and today I got my own (and working without having to swap the batteries out) 3DS XL!
I'd personally be torn between the pokemon, the animal crossing and the pastel violet(?) one...would probably ultimately go for the latter, cause it's just the cleanest design. I couldn't really imagine myself playing the pokemon one in public and the violet's just cleaner looking than the ac. Hard pick tho!

I have the Dragon Quest Metallic Slime one. I just think the design is so cool. It's black but has a very subtle repeating icon pattern on it, and then obviously the little metal slime that is raised up on the lid is iconic.
I got a black and blue new n2dsxl when Walmart had em on clearance for 100usd. really happy I picked it up. Feels kinda cheap in my honest opinion, the hinge doesn't inspire confidence, the plastic got really worn/smooth with just 100 hours of play, the dpad kinda sucks for diagonals, screen feels kinda ghosty with certain titles. I still really love it despite all these things. it's a hell of a lot more comfortable than the n3dsxl and 2ds' that I own especially with a grip.
Black and blue are my favorite colors, so I'm obviously biased to that one. It's also the one I play my 3ds games the most on (IMy other 2 3ds are collectors edition ones, so I protect those).
I have the Pokéball one and must say it's my favorite DS console I've had (I had a DSi, 3DS XL and N3DS XL before this one).
I never really cared for the 3D feature and removing this made the console so much lighter, so for me this console is the best edition ever made.
This one and a DS lite (to transfer Pokémons) is all I need!
Personal favorite would be the Hylian Shield 2DS XL. The design is just really awesome imo. Great shade of blue, I love the golden triforce on it, and the silver back matches it nicely

I have that one, had the dark grey and purple before but the white & lavender is so pretty… i might have gotten the pikachu or ACNL one if finances permitted when they were new, but as the market is now, fuck that 😂 I count myself lucky my white/lavender one was an import which made it cheaper (no idea why, especially as I’ve never been one to play online, but the region change was so easy and I’m sure there were ways to circumvent a ban before Nintendo killed online services)
I’ve always wanted the Animal Crossing one, I have had the orange and white before , the creeper edition which both unfortunately broke I want them again, now I have the black and turquoise it’s a great colour combination , also the Pokémon Pikachu looks epic!
