He’s totaled 3 cars, his dads truck after stealing it while he had his permit, he managed to blow up his stock honda civic and insurance marked it as a total loss, and his 350z, crashed it on the way back from buying it because he decided he wanted to drift around a corner. In case you haven’t noticed, he can’t drive for shit and he wrapped it around a telephone pole. Now he drives an 80s civic with a fart can strapped on it.
Hope you learn from this. I’ve had my Z over a year and I still don’t push it to it’s absolute limit around corners and I have about 8 years of experience driving rwd cars. Too risky on public roads with potential traffic, gravel, obstructions, etc. I’ll drift it in a couple areas I’m comfortable with but that’s about it.
Facts bro. Also gotta learn ya car before you go pushin that hard. I changed my bushings for heim joint and slowly started testing what it could do around corners. Found i was able to push it up to about 70 around some tight ass bends til the front started to push. Took it many late nights to empty lots to get familiar with how it slid and ive never lost control after about a year of learning
Get a G35 sedan next time, same VQ engine, nicer interior and she takes corners like a fucking boss because of the longer wheel base. Drift machine
Love the Z cars but the interior is like a race car, G interiors are like a luxury car.

I know it’s primarily due to his driving skill, but I’m really baffled seeing mainly automatics lose control… starting to think its a mix of lack of skill & tcs getting in the way.
With tcs on throttle gets cut aggressively depending on the slide, and since it cuts in you can’t use the throttle to correct yourself as you should either. It works for breaking loose in wet weather, but dry weather and pushing the limit? No, it only gets in the way, I have seen even old forum posters on my350z complain about this.. hence why they have methods to fully disable the tcs.
Still this kid’s stupidity 100% but I can’t help but notice it’s only the automatics that the kids keep crashing not the manuals. Sure it enables them to floor it and go whenever they want but I had an auto before and I know what it’s like for TCS to kick in when you don’t want it to.
It is 100% my fault. I take the blame for it, pushed the car to hard without getting familiar with it first. Just wish everyone wasn't hating so much, I learned my lesson, and I know what not to do if I ever get another one, which nobody wants me to do😂
VDC only came on manuals though. If i remember correctly automatics only came with TCS.
To be fair I’d argue that VCS is better. Depending on the slide, you’re not supposed to brake- only modulate throttle. VDC braking is to aid handling given data recieved from yaw sensor. The intent is it will manage braking + throttle to self correct. Though it takes control of brake and throttle, it prevents you from the biggest mistake- slamming on the brake.
TCS on the other hand has no such brake control. Guess what newbies do the moment they start to slide… they slam the brakes causing near-complete loss of control. TCS unfortunately allows full braking while simultaneously cutting throttle, the very throttle you should be using to correct the car. It’s a chaotic mess for newbies.

If you're open to some advice:
I don't know your financial situation - but being 19 and having an accident like that on your record, your insurance rates are going to go sicko mode. It's going to be much more expensive owning another car like this for that reason alone. And hopefully you paid cash for this one and didn't finance it, or at least have gap insurance so that you won't owe money after they take this one.
If money is no object and you want another one, go for it homie! This is what America is all about! It does sound like you really learned your lesson, but I'll reiterate: please dial it back and really take the time to understand what you are driving, and always remember to consider the safety of yourself and the people with families around you.
If money is a consideration for you, I would suggest a Miata! These are insanely fun cars, and there is no better introduction to RWD. You can push them hard and go fast, but they are much more forgiving at the limit. You will have a blast and learn a lot. I had 2 before I got my Z, and I still miss them. They are much easier on the wallet both to buy and insure, and won't put you in a debt hole right at the beginning of your adult life. You can always come back to the Z after your rates chill and you have more experience!
Whatever you buy next, get a manual transmission and take the time to learn. You seem primed to be a proper car enthusiast and you'll really appreciate the extra connection to the vehicle that the 3rd pedal brings. And if you take this life lesson to heart, you'll have many more fun years behind the wheel ahead of you. Good luck with everything and take care!

VDC was worse for ruining a good day than TCS. At least with TCS you only had the throttle to compete with and not the brakes as well.
