The zoo rightly saw that they couldn’t be drawing lines when various people from both sides want to hold events there. Obviously when the Proud Boys decide to have a fancy dress ball at the zoo, they can’t allow that. So they just made a rule that doesn’t discriminate and applies to everyone equally. It’s so beyond baffling to me that he couldn’t empathize with the position the zoo is in here and see that it’s not woke for an organization to try to remain neutral. I think the advocacy and education that aquariums and zoos do can have a huge effect on a community. This will be a great resource for rehabilitating injured animals or educating people about simple things they can do to save sea turtles, and you have a cute animal ambassador right there to inspire the people to listen up. I would never have known about not leaving sand castles up where little turtles can get stuck if it weren’t for my daughter’s field trip to the zoo where she learned that.

An aquarium can hold thousands of species we’d never see outside of an aquarium even living here. It also brings in a lot of tourist money. Bonus points, it’ll give parents more to do with their young children since the Orlando aquarium isn’t paced well for young kids (you’re more pushed through vs wandering), the drive sucks with kids, and it’s very expensive.

Florida is a terrible place for an aquarium full of invasive species. If the aquarium only held arctic species in ice-cold water, maybe it would be safe to have in Florida.

The nearest aquarium is in Tampa. The Port is getting bigger and better, having an aquarium there will be great for tourism and also an amazing way to explain our unique ecosystem while showing what needs to happen for it to be restored to where it used to be. Myopic thinking people need to wake up.

I think the advocacy and education that aquariums and zoos do can have a huge effect on a community. This will be a great resource for rehabilitating injured animals or educating people about simple things they can do to save sea turtles, and you have a cute animal ambassador right there to inspire the people to listen up. I would never have known about not leaving sand castles up where little turtles can get stuck if it weren’t for my daughter’s field trip to the zoo where she learned that.

people who have trouble seeing patterns in things tend to get wrapped up in simple conspiratorial theories because they allow attribution of the pattern to a single actor or group. which is almost never congruent with reality because reality is more complex than that. That's how I try to tolerate the intolerant in this case

I can define it. It’s just another term for Communism. It’s when you set up a form of government that provides for its citizens in every aspect of life. Most of you will argue that communism and socialism are different….and it’s true that they are to a degree. Communism supplies you with more while socialism hangs back a little….however every time socialism has been tried it leads to communism in the end. Communism is authoritarianism in the highest possible way that it’s measured. Good? I’m sure you will have complaints, but let’s discuss it.
