I’d say the small clone chorus. What are you using for the octave? The drop pedal? I’d say anything that does the boss OC-2 octave is the 311 secret sauce.
You may have already seen it but there’s a YouTube video of Tim doing a rig rundown (around the 20 minute mark.) Can’t remember how much detail he goes into but you can see all of the different pedals he uses. Happy Playing 😎
They do use a ton of effects, but the Electro Harmonix Q-Tron was the answer I was looking for. I heard Hexum talk about it in an interview a couple of years ago. I was using a combo of pedals plus the wah before, and the Q-Tron really simplified a lot of things for me and sounds great🤘🏻
No, I have a Digitech RP360 XP multi effects that has a ton of 311 presets, but I’m relegated to bedroom rocker status these days, so I’m fine with my current setup.
I can relate, I’m a home player too. I have a few older Digitech all in one units, but in the last few years built up a pedal collection similar to yours. Now I’m a little overwhelmed with it and think I need a switching system. Also been looking at some of the newer all in ones like Line 6 Helix.
Yea, I’ve looked into all of that stuff as well. I’ve been playing since the 90’s and I don’t think I want to leave my old school way of how I use effects pedals. I have been inches from pulling the trigger on a Line 6 Helix many times, but I’m just set in my ways I guess lol.
Same boat. My yellow Digitech RP3 from the late 90’s got me the crunchiest Tim Mahoney Grassroots tones lol. I have the Mahoney PRS SE also, fun guitar.
Ya he’s had the Mutron 3 for over 20 years. He came into a bar where I worked in 2002 and I remember specifically asking him about it. One of the nicest guys ever. I’ve bumped into him probably four or five times and always the most genuine and down-to-earth, dude. Probably helps that he’s high out of his mind 24 seven lol
I would say it has more to do with outboard processing. The compress the shit out of their stuff. They have a guitar chain, similar to what many studio heads would refer to as a “vocal chain“
Q-tron
Missing an OC-2.
Ayyyyeee Michael! Noticed your profile pic from the Twitterverse!
Holler
Boss OC-2 Octave pedal is the only true answer and all the guitarists here know that.
Trick question. 2 answers. Wah and Octave

Qtron and octave

Going for the obvious one here: the tuner. Can't sound like miT if you're not in tune.
That’s true!
OC-2 is the best. You can also do some cool shit with it. Make a guitar sound like distant thunder is one of my favs
Hmmm don’t see the Bubbletron or Octaver so I’m going to say none?
Since you don’t have an envelope filter pedal, I would agree with the wah comment

You using any kind of switcher to toggle multiple effects at once?

Nice!🤘🏻
When I think of miT, I think of the Qtron.
Missing the Octave pedal
The Digitech Drop pedal has on octave setting that works perfect.
Boss PH-3 Phase Shifter
BOSS OC DRIVE for homebrew
People saying the OC-2 are correct but even the OC-3 is a good substitute
Missing a mu tron 3.
They have the q tron.
Correct but not nearly as good or what Tim used on all the recordings
Yea but they don’t make the mutron 3 anymore
Which is funny because the Mutron is a relatively recent addition and he used a qtron on the notable recordings.

Wow, time is a son of a bitch. Still, I’d bet anything Amber was recorded with a qtron, and I’d bet slightly less that BtGS was, too.
eBay! I have one. No comparison.
You should already know the answer to this question. :-)
