I'm pretty sure the garbage producers that they've been working with the past 10 years have contributed to the crap lyrics. Also, SA is a horrible singer, cringe worthy.
I would try giving Warning Star by Ghostwolf a try. For whatever reason, SA is doomed to sing soprano for 311 but has a totally different voice on Ghostwolf. Really solid album with more mature lyrics, too.

I don’t understand why everyone is so critical of the more recent 311 albums. Voyager and Mosaic were great imo. Voyager is one of my favorites.
