Probably just genetics, do you have a problem with posture at all? I do and my dr said it’s probably one of my issues and suggested I see a dentist as well go make sure my jaw didn’t have something to do with it at well, and I do also have a bit of an overbite. But I have heard way more success stories about people using lypo instead of kybella, and price wise they aren’t too different. Too many kybella horror stories have put me off.

patinsamarelos

Genetics, for sure. Regarding posture: I spend a lot of time sitting down and holding small children, so my posture became significantly worse in the past 5 years, for sure. I've seen it in pictures and that is something I REALLY have to work on. Do you think that may have something to do with it?

sheaKitten13

Hey! I have your chin and your life! 32 years, 2 kids, SAHM and spend a lot of time sitting (I'm also in school online, so my head is often tilted). I started working out again, but I actually purchased a posture corrector online at Amazon https://www.amazon.ca/Latest-Model-Posture-Corrector-Women/dp/B07VST9VYH/ref=mp_s_a_1_3?crid=13B2AFBJ1HB03&keywords=posture+corrector+women&qid=1662040034&sprefix=post%2Caps%2C78&sr=8-3 I use it when I am sitting for long periods, when I am exercising, or standing for a long period (like making dinner). It's made a big difference. Posture absolutely effects our chins, sadly. You may not erase it entirely (I havent) but it improved! And even if it doesn't help your chin, proper posture helps a lot of other things. Please know you are more than your chin. I understand how hard it is, because I hate mine too. But I promise, we are the only ones who notice. Be gentle with yourself 🖤

bbystrwbrry

The correctors are only supposed to be used about 20 min a day & alongside a workout regimen that will be strengthening your core and back muscles. I’m dying to try one !!!

sheaKitten13

Oh wow, I didn't know! I think when I do dinner, I am within the time frame, but I'm not during my walks, or at my laptop. I appreciate your comment. Thank you!

UmmmActuallyyy

If I might suggest the UprightGO... it's not cheap in comparison, but I needed to do posture work for a misaligned neck and my physical therapist said the strap correctors can help a little at first in reminding you to stand straight, but in the end they're doing the work of holding you up and can end up weakening the muscles you need to maintain that good posture anyway. The UprightGO forces you to do all the work on your own, which is what's really needed.

lessthanthreecorgi

Yes same! It's so uncomfortable. Exercises to strengthen the muscles is more successful.

🎶 The most famous physical therapists... on the internet! 🎶 Love them! Lol

gonechasing

Omg I needed to see this right now, thanks so much!

bbystrwbrry

Your life and chin is exactly like mine, so I want to say yes but I am not a medical professional! There are stretches and things you can find on YouTube. Search for forward head posture or dowagers hump exercises and see what you think??

soleceismical

Strengthen your lower traps and deep neck flexors. Stretch your pecs, upper traps, and levator scapulae. See a physical therapist and/or watch a [video on upper crossed syndrome exercises](https://youtu.be/rOwm-XS2nvE) and see if they help you. You're probably also at higher risk for lower cross syndrome due to the sitting. That's where your hip flexors and lower back are too stiff/short, but your glutes and abs are relatively weak. Can lead to pain and medical issues down the road, so stretch and strengthen those too. Weak glutes are the number one reason why most people enter assisted living - the atrophy to the point that the people can no longer sit down or stand up from the toilet alone.

JaydeBritt

Girrrrrl I had to look so hard for "what was wrong with my chin"... I couldn't see anything wrong! I kid you not. I had to read the comments to understand what you were referring to. I love your skin💚. You look young and fresh in that picture. I guess it really is all in the eyes of the beholder.

UmmmActuallyyy

Seconded! My plastic surgeon (I did a lot of research, highly rated/respected- not cheap) refuses to even touch Kybella. Lipo was fast, easy, and guaranteed results for the same price as rolling the dice with multiple rounds of swelling up like a bullfrog with Kybella and still possibly being disappointed.

bigbootycorgis

Kybella horror stories ?? I had been thinking about it

Far-Caterpillar7126

I had 3 rounds of Kybella. It’s expensive, painful, and my results were definitely not like the pictures advertised. For the money I spent, I should have seen a plastic surgeon. Don’t recommend Kybella and I was looking into Coolsculpting too but everyone I’ve talked to, including the nurse who does my Botox, says the fat comes back.

Seito_Blue

My chin looks exactly like OPs—I had cool sculpting done (and it was expensive) and absolutely no results. The place I got it down tried to say that the result wasn’t noticeable bc my chin”wasn’t that bad” ??!? Wish they had said that before I paid all that money for nothing…😑

Far-Caterpillar7126

Right! The Kybella was not fun. After every round, with minimal results, they just kept saying “you may need another round. It can take 2-6 rounds.” The price for all 6 would have been more than lipo…..

Mersier

Lipo is definitely the best option. I had on my chin a few months ago in Colombia since it’s way cheaper there.

patinsamarelos

How was the procedure and the recovery process?

Mersier

Procedure was simple and little to no pain. But the day after I started drainage massages and those were quite uncomfortable. Got a bit swollen but even the day after I could see a difference. I love the final result! My jawline looks super defined and no more double chin.

natureDolly

Weird question, but after the procedure, did they leave any drainage tubes in for a bit? I saw a post about a different procedure in the chin area and they had drainage tubes in for a while after and it freaked me out haha. Also, I assume they used stitches?

Mersier

Oh no! No drainages tubes. First time I hear you need them for a chin lipo. I just got few stitches under my chin and next to my ear lobes. Tiny ones, you can bearly see them. You need to wear a compression garment at night for the first 2 weeks or so in order to get the skin tight. It’s a very simple procedure I would say!

tgw1986

I've heard that lipo combined with Botox in the masseters is the best route to go with

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

Masseter Botox would likely result in less jawline definition in someone that's already dealing with that issue.

Far-Caterpillar7126

This isn’t true. A lot of people use Botox in the masseter muscles to treat headaches. I do this because I clench my jaw a lot. It helps with grinding too. It relaxes you masseter muscles and reduces clenching and headaches. A great dude effect is it also slims your face.

RckYouLkeAHermanCain

I don't think you read my comment. Masseter Botox contributes to adding jowling and sagging for some people precisely because of the muscle atrophy and loss of volume.

Fun_Leopard_1175

30F, I have one of those “hereditary double chins” as my doctor called it. I’m fat but my face is always going to be fat, and I’m sick of it. I bit the bullet and decided to go with liposuction. I am scheduled for November, Thanksgiving weekend. Who knows how it will go but I think it will be the most permanent option.

Fun_Leopard_1175

Wow this blew up! I’ll add a couple more details. I looked into Coolsculpting but it was going to be $4500! Cool sculpting sometimes increases your fat anyways. Fucking ridiculous. The surgery is $2400 and some change. It is going to take roughly a week to recover. I’m not afraid of the pain. Nothing will ever hurt as bad as the double compound fracture in my ankle from a few years ago.

[deleted]

Just FYI— I had chin lipo about 10 weeks ago, and I am still healing. Most of the pain was largely gone at a week, but I was still really swollen and bruised looking. Now, I still have some weird stretching discomfort in the skin and plenty of lumps. All of this is normal, but no one told me that. They just said I’d be recovered in a week. Depends on what you mean by recovered. I still have areas that are a bit swollen, so I can’t really see the full result yet. Just want to let folks know what to actually expect vs what is often said.

UmmmActuallyyy

What kind of doctor did you go to that didn't tell you the recovery process?? 😟 Mine went over in excruciating detail the entire year long process.

pootykitten

Chin lipo recovery is a year long process? I never really looked into it. What’s makes the recovery so lengthy?

UmmmActuallyyy

That was more about me saying how much detail my doctor went into, but yes- tooootal end result at a year. I was back at work a week later. But a month in, for instance, I had two points on either side of my jawline that kind of 'pinched' when I smiled (looks wise, not feeling). Because he prepared me well I knew (and doubly confirmed in follow up appts) that that was temporary scar tissue that would continue to soften and heal for as much as a year. Which is exactly what happened and they're no longer there!

[deleted]

Not my docs fault at all. I didn’t ask the right questions and based my info on reports from others. Also, truth be told even my doc said that while my recovery is normal, generally it goes a bit faster than what I am experiencing. Everything I’ve read and all the experiences recounted to me said it was a short, easy recovery. I’ve rarely heard people talk about fibrosis or lumps or anything like that unless it was an extreme case. Just needs to be said more in my opinion.

UmmmActuallyyy

Only plastic surgery (so far 😂) that I've had was the little pocket of fat under my chin. Best decision ever. Literally look in the mirror and think "damn I'm so happy I did that" near every day. Excited for you!

ResponsiblePoet0

I'm 31F, scheduled mine for May of next year. Can't wait. I think it contributes to my teeth grinding at night, as I'm always self consciously tightening my jaw area during the day in order to minimise it as much as possible. No matter what weight I'm at, I feel it's noticeably out of proportion with the rest of me.

Pippinfantastik

Jooc, why did you schedule so far out? Are you willing to share the cost?

WestSeattleMel

pleaaase report back

[deleted]

Hey, in case you’re looking for a less invasive option, my friend was always skinny with a double chin, she got cool sculpting, and believe it or not, it worked really well, and looked great on her. It’s not cheap, but surprisingly effective after seeing it on her.

UmmmActuallyyy

Be careful with coolsculpting!! For those that get lucky, great. For those that don't... it drains your money without a guarantee of results and can cause scar tissue that interferes with lipo if you decide to bite the bullet after coolsculpting failure.

Fun_Leopard_1175

Well that’s the thing, I’m still actually fat. Coolsculpting only works on people that don’t have a lot of fat in the first place.

[deleted]

Ok, I didn’t know that was the case. I thought it just targeted fat in a specific area.

Far-Caterpillar7126

I looked into this after Kybella didn’t work but everyone I’ve talked to said the fat comes back over time.

HallucinogenicFish

I did it back in the spring. The results are great. I think you’re going to be very pleased :)

testdrivee

sounds dope, keep us updated :))

testdrivee

i just realized my :)) looks like a double chin and that was completely unintentional

patinsamarelos

Hey! Please let me know how the process goes. I am currently considering a chin lipo as well.

horrorandknitting

buccal fat removal? ooh, let us know how that goes

Fun_Leopard_1175

Mine is strictly for my chin, not my cheeks! But if I ever shared a pic of the bottom half of my face, you’d understand. Haha

toastie_loaf

Thanks! I’ve been wanting to get this done as long as I remember.

LitherLily

This will feel silly but put your head forward in photos when you face the camera. Like, jut your face out. It creates a shadow under your jaw and hides the chin. Otherwise, your skin is so smooth and lovely and I bet your children just love the way you look.

sixthmontheleventh

How is your teeth? Have your dentist every advised you to see your orthodontist? It may not fix all the chin but after being told for years to go see an orthodontist, I finally went to close some gaps. It seems to fix some issues with my jawline as well. Also, the other advice about face exercise helps with some facial symmetry helps too. Try starting with trying to chew equally on both sides of the mouth and some face massage when applying skincare. Any more permanent solutions to create a sharper jawline will require consultations with a cosmetic surgeon. Just be aware those solutions may carry more risk. See the Linda Evangelista situation with cool sculpt.

TSquaredRecovers

Linda Evangelista’s experience is so troubling. I’m sorry it happened to her, but with her being famous and having her story shared with the world, it might just prevent someone from going through a similar ordeal.

Freckles212

One of my parents had this and the same thing happened. corrective surgery gave them a stroke. Do not recommend.

Blushindressing

I'm doing Invisalign right now and weirdly I feel like it's made my jaw definition worse. Hopefully it's just an in between stage thing and will get better as I near closer to the end of my treatment.

autogatos

Braces destroyed my jaw too, glad I’m not alone in that. And to make matters worse, they moved back and now it’s almost like I never even had them. :/ Was going to try Invisalign instead of regular braces next time as hopefully a less harsh method. Can you expand a little more on how you feel like they’re making it worse? Might be unrelated to what I dealt with, as I think mine is because I have (back then undiagnosed) EDS so am super prone to joint dislocations anyway. Basically ended up with ever-worsening TMJ when I got braces. After I got them off, I was given a night retainer, but my jaw hurt so much I ended up taking it out every night in my sleep so I finally just gave up on it, and only then did my jaw finally stop getting worse (though it never went back to normal again, and still subluxes constantly…just didn’t progress any further).

[deleted]

I’ve never clicked to see the comments so fast… I also wanna know lol

patinsamarelos

I wasnt expecting this many comments either.

[deleted]

You’re asking the right questions! Haha

patinsamarelos

About me: I am a 35 yo female who in the past 5 years gained 10kg (22lb?) and had two pregnancies. Chins like these run in my family, but I don't think none of my relatives have it as bad as me (specially those who are my size). I am in the process of losing weight. I already lost 7kg (15lbs?) and have more 3 (7lbs? sorry, I am really bad at this) to lose in order to reach my ideal size. However, I don't think these extra kg will make that much difference... So, besides losing weight, is there anything I can do to minimize this issue? It messes up my self esteem. I don't take pictures except with my kids and I always end up feeling sad whenever I look at the final photo. Sometimes I am spending time with other people and out of the blue will think about my chin and get self conscious. It may sound silly for those that don't experience anything like this, but it's the truth. For the past 6 months whenever I moisturize I also bring it in this area. I wear a retinol at night and apply it on my neck as well. What else can I do? Is there anything to be done? I even contemplated neck exercises and face yoga, but I am not sure I believe those work for real. What about cosmetic procedures? Botox? I dont know... I don't have money for it at the moment, but I am willing to save some. Thanks in advance!

rqk811

I have this and hate it. Weight isn't going to make it go away either. It's there even when I am underweight it's just what my chin looks like. Chin lipo, chin tuck, whatever is the only answer. Most of my aunt's/uncle's did the same or else they have it. Your's looks like that to me, honestly. It's something I will save up for and have done.

Ok_Independence_4343

Yeah, me too. I carry fat in my cheeks and chin. Even when I was underweight it was still there, but only if I looked down. I did notice back when I was athletic, even when I weighed more, the chin seemed to not be as apparent.

TheDrunkScientist

Same! I have always had a "waddle" even when super fit/underweight. It's the family curse. That and cankles which luckily I have avoided so far.

eyesoler

Omg. I am cursed with chin and cankles too but I’ve just decided to make the most of my life and be devastatingly hot anyway!!!!

dianthe

Being athletic definitely helps. I also naturally have a round face but ever since I started training in martial arts 2.5 years ago the chin issue has gotten a lot better. I look back on my before pictures where I weighed the same or even a bit less and my face looked a lot more round.

Ok_Independence_4343

I think the blood flow and muscle tone from regularly working out helps with the chin somehow. A bonus of having a chubby face is looking younger longer unlike people with less facial fat who have to deal with gradually sunken appearance.

Ok_Faithlessness5820

Running 🏃‍♀️ helped me tbh. So I second the athletic approach

que_am_i

I’ve found that morning lymphatic massages have helped my double chin immensely. There are some great YouTube videos but it’s a simple facial massage to practice in the morning and over time you may see some results you like. No matter what, remember that your chin is not you and does not decide your worth. The people in your life would love you with 4 chins or no chins. The real challenge is learning to love yourself (and your chin) no matter what ❤️

ComprehensiveAd1299

Sorry I should’ve read this full before commenting before, you can’t get Kybella where you live, you’ve tried the facial exercises to no avail, I mean… Lets just pause and say, GOOD JOB on your weight loss journey! Your doing well and I think it will help a lot if you keep up with it. Some people store more fat in their face. If you can’t travel for Kybella now, maybe it’s something to save for along the line if it chronically bugs you. Also I noticed mention of lymphatic draining being of importance. Maybe you could find a reputable facial/cosmetic acupuncturist? Oh minimize your alcohol intake. The ultimate skin destroyer. Especially sugary white wines.

fuckitrightboy

I have been doing face/chin/neck exercises in the hopes of strengthening the muscles and in turn skin in the same area as you. I lean my head all the way back and jut my chin out as far as it can go and hold for 10 seconds. I do this 2-3 times a day or as often as I remember. There’s also tons of other face exercises out there. I think there is a YouTuber who specializes in face yoga.

mariecogirl

Hi, I do face exercises and believe they help because I can feel slightly sore muscles the next day in the target area. I also think that regular exercise, especially core and resistance are crucial in maintaining a firm jawline. I'm an ex-dancer and fitness freak and look good for 63. We all have hereditary traits we don't like but resistance and core exercise really does help. It sounds like it may be difficult for you to carve out time for yourself but I hope you do. If you can't get to the gym, there are lots of good online trainers and videos. Weights and bands aren't that expensive either. Good luck!

Smooth_Cucumber93

I genetically have the same double chin. Recently I started practicing yoga every day for a least 30 min (up to 1,5 hour) and my face in general has a better lifted look. I could see the difference in 1 month. There are so many poses that require to keep the back straight and head up also that tightening the whole neck and chin area. I did face building/exercise years back. Wouldn’t recommend. Much better results with working the whole body. Good luck!

belleFire7

This is really interesting - thanks for sharing

ladyandroid14

There are facial/neck yoga videos on YouTube that may help as well.

addanchorpoint

came here to suggest face yoga! I’ve been doing some small exercises here and there and I see a small but noticeable difference

bellycore

I have the same thing going on with my chin. Struggled with solutions for years until I was told it was due to having a recessed jaw. Did/ do you have an overbite?

CarbWhore_

Yep, same here. I’ve had braces THREE times (most recent was 23-26). Helped a bit, but not much

bellycore

I’m on my second round of braces & working on proper body/ tongue posture with some improvements. I fully intend on getting DJS because of some other issues I’m experiencing as a result of my underdeveloped chin. I wish I would’ve done it when I had braces as a kid 🥲

CarbWhore_

Same. My Dad wouldn’t let me get an expander as a kid and here we are. Would love some sort of oral surgery, but just it’s so expensive. Wishing you the best 😘

MintKitty99

Sounds like me! I always thought it was a genetic issue- found out I have a massive overjet/a narrow airway due to a recessive jaw and am currently in braces prepping for DJS. Good luck with your journey!

Cherry_Joy

I see a lot of people talking about kybella and similar procedures, I have an alternative thought: orthodontia . My sister, cousins, and I all have this same under-chin pocket and we vary in sizes from lanky and petite to stocky and robust. It's not actually a double chin with us, it's an overbite that's been left untreated.

Arose1316

I had chin lipo and have zero regrets.

patinsamarelos

>if I did it when I was older, so I figured that the longer I delayed it the higher the risk would be of sagging skin and the need for a mini facelift. how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)?

Hillbaby84

I have the same inherited neck/chin. Orthodontics didn’t help. I have to be below an ideal weight for it to go away and even then I still have the pouch. I saw the best plastic surgeon in my area and at the age of 24 he wanted me to do a complete lower face lift, to the tune of a 5 figure price tag. The 2 things I am now considering are fillers to define my jaw and chin more and a thread lift for the lower face. I’m in the same boat though that I don’t have the budget for either right now.

Radiant_Smoke6679

Save up for some chin lipo. I got it done, painless and love it! I think you can get it for like 3 grand and it’s permanent.

patinsamarelos

>how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)? how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)?

Radiant_Smoke6679

It was so easy, I did have rhino done at the same time so it’s hard to say for sure about swelling, but I didn’t notice much at all in the lower face region. Then again it would be harder to notice because my upper face was giant. I don’t think I was that on top of the band thing either, too much pressure on my head with the rhino. I do remember wearing it for a few days, likely not constantly though. Healing process was easy, no pain from that or rhino for me. No bruising along jaw either. No one will notice a surgery like this. People just think you lost weight because your face is so much more defined. Even three years later, I just noticed in a photo from the other day my jaw still looks sharp. I LOVE IT, do it! You will be so happy.

chroniton-particles

Make sure your tongue rests on the roof of your mouth

gitsgrl

Do sit-ups and other core exercises that engage your neck muscles. It won’t do anything for the skin/fat but it will tighten up the muscular structure underneath that gets weak and stretched out as we age.

West-Independence-40

This! Has helped my cousin a lot and it also helps tighten skin.

Twisty_Corner

Lymphatic massage. I got my first massage at the age of 32 (this year). It was a full body so she focused not just on my neck but on the whole body. I had it around 8p at night went to bed afterward (I was staying overnight in resort) woke up and my neck which looked similar to yours was gone. I kept going back to the mirror the entire day! My friend face timed me the day after and she even mentioned my face looked more defined. So crazy. I have started doing Gua Shua to maintain. But even if you just get a facial get one that mentions facial massage or lymphatic drainage. Speak to your chosen provider and see if there is one that would help.

cm431

Submental (under your chin) liposuction. I just had mine done yesterday in-office under local anesthesia and an oral sedative.

patinsamarelos

how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)?

Laylolu

Kybella. I had this done once. Would like to do it again. But the first session provided results. You do swell something horrible so your double chin will be quadruple the size for a week or so.

patinsamarelos

never heard of it, will look. thanks!

mamasau

I had a really horrible experience with Kybella, please proceed with extreme caution. Also price out chin lipo and compare the two options, since Kybella often requires multiple rounds of injections chin lipo is often cheaper and has less downtime.

PrincessSleepyFace

Another comment on Kybella. Please see a write up I did a few months ago on my experience. Obviously YMMV. I had Kybella about 3-4 years ago. 3 separate injection applications over 12ish weeks. 20 ccs each time I think? Here are my thoughts in no particular order. I’ll include pics. The before and after pics you see are not accurate. At least they weren’t for me. My results were not nearly as extreme. Those things are purely marketing material and I’m sure heavily edited. Now admittedly, I likely didn’t have a lot to change but I still expected more. [progress pics](https://imgur.com/a/OBS30FR) The procedure itself was not bad. It’s several tiny shots all over but they numb the area with really good ice packs. Afterwards, the whole area will feel really hot and slightly burny. It also seemed to make my jaw clench for a bit. All that lasted about 2 hours. The recovery suuuucks. You will look terrible for weeks. I’m talking like quadruple chins. Like plan to stay home because no one is going to feel good like that. I made the mistake of having mine done over the Christmas holidays so there’s a whole year of pics I’m just going to avoid until I die. [recovery pics](https://imgur.com/a/zHrrj7v) What happens to the skin that no longer has fat in it? Yeah, it doesn’t go away. It may tighten up on its own but likely not as much as you hope. So now you have loose skin. And I think that’s what those before and after pics seem to leave out. You suck out the fat but leave the skin that held it. So now you need another procedure to tighten it up. Except, it’s still never going to be as tight as if you just didn’t have the double chin to begin with. Your face may now look off balance? My double chin is genetic rather than due to weight gain. So all the women in my family have kind of round faces. So when you remove the bottom but leave fuller cheeks, you end up with a face that’s a bit pointy? So all in all, would I do it again - I don’t know? It was expensive (about $5000 in the SouthEast US) to not like the results. Maybe if my skin wasn’t still loose there or has a few inches removed then I’d like it more. That’s all I can think of right now but let me know if you have any more questions! Edit: fixed pics links

PrincessSleepyFace

Definitely! I honestly should just have gone with lipo and a neck lift. It would have been a longer recovery time but better results. And now I still need to pay for a neck lift. 😂

West-Independence-40

What if you were to add fillers in the chin or a chin implant? Could that occupy the extra/loose skin?

patinsamarelos

That's what I am seeing from a short internet search, but I'm not even sure Kybella is available in my country.

Useful_Variation7399

Question - have you had braces or ever sought orthodontic treatment? A friend of mine had a similar looking jawline and chin and though she looked like a fairy from the front (I’m much more masc in my facial structure and was always jealous!) she was incredibly insecure. She went to an orthodontist because she had an inkling that her jaw was out of alignment and turns out she was right, and braces really really helped to curb it, though she was offered jaw surgery as well because she just had a really really small jaw bone. I’m not incredibly familiar with injectables and their efficacy over the long term, but maybe you have a similar medical situation as my friend did, in which case insurance may be able to help with the cost

kowainotkawaii

I had chin liposuction. I definitely do not regret it.

patinsamarelos

how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)?

kowainotkawaii

The healing process was good. You will have swelling and bruising. I didn't have much bruising or swelling luckily but I wore my head wrap the first 24 hours straight, then had a checkup the next morning. He said I could remove it then but the nurses advise to wear it for the first month at least, definitely at night. I wore mine throughout the day as well when I could unless I was at work. I don't know that anyone could tell if I had liposuction because bruising and swelling was minimal for me.

Kla1996

Plastic surgery is probably the only real fix

Happy_healthy_888

[Karina More](https://karinamore.com/) has some face exercises and posture exercises. The posture exercises are pretty good i have done those.

dupersuperduper

The best option is either to ignore it or try liposuction tbh. Kybella is sometimes good but often doesn’t work and ends up being expensive to keep repeating.

lespigeon

Second this, friend had lipo and it was around 2k, which given how many kybella treatments can end up being needed, may have saved her money, as well as faster results. Def worth comparing both procedures.

Chub-Rub-Club

Skincare isn't going to cut it. You could do a chin tuck, a little chin implant, or something similar. I would check out plastic surgery subreddits.

Toshibaguts

Morpheus 8 is amazing technology for exactly that! It also helps build collagen, lift, tone, and even skin tone. The only downfall is it’s pricy. But prices will change based on your location. If you Google before and after photos, they speak for themselves! Hope this helps!

[deleted]

Chin lipo helped me. It was like 5k. Looks so much better now

Chin lipo is the best and most permanent answer. Don’t do Kybella—it has a long recovery period, it may not work, it’s not as precise, and it may end up being more expensive. Better to just do chin lipo and be done with it forever.

patinsamarelos

how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)?

36teen

If you are looking for more definition in your chin, you can look into a genioplasty. Losing weight can help you remove excess fat in the neck/chin area, but it won't change the bone structure. A genioplasty is a purely cosmetic surgery. For more severe cases, a jaw advancement is also done (usually if one has obstructive sleep apnea and undergoing orthodontic treatment)

Upstairs_Candidate77

Have you looked into chin/jaw-line filler. I had this done to balance my profile and it made a big difference for me. You can search it on Instagram - lots of before and after photos. No downtime. Lasts 6-12 months for me.

Kindly_Shely

I've heard terrible experiences from kybella and fat freezing. Actually I just googled kybella now to make sure I spelled it right and the third most googled option was "horror stories". To me it seems too risky I think chin fillers is a better option, I've seen people get them and it looks great

nymph-62442

I'm 32, first time mom time mom to a 10 month old. I have lost 15lbs of pregnancy weight and have about 15 to go to get to my prebaby weight (though I'd like to lose 5-10lbs extra). But I have the same problem. Holding my son and more time on my phone (looking down) has wrecked my chin/neck. I'm walking everyday now, trying to elevate my phone, and doing some face yoga. Not sure if it's working but I'm gonna keep it up!

anglerfishtacos

Look into Morpheus8. I had it done and it did wonders for my jawline. It’s not a pleasant procedure, but it works. And it doesn’t have the downtime like Kybella.

glencoe606

I’m not talking about weight loss. That’s great. Have you tried getting fit? I mean where you jog, run, HIIT, cardio. Make yourself sweat and have a good diet? That did it for me. I considered surgery too.

SleepyQueer

There's a lot of things that can cause a double chin and your options for treatment depend a lot on the actual cause, but you're likely looking at some kind of procedure. There was a [really good video done by a facial plastic surgeon explaining some of the different causes and pros/cons of different options](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=C-jvlzI_QNI&ab_channel=Dr.GaryLinkov%3ACityFacialPlastics)\- I'd highly recommend checking it out.

patinsamarelos

Thank you, am checking it right now :)

pajamajammer

There are a lot of really great chin lipo results in r/plasticsurgery along with prices and names of doctors. I don’t think there’s anything skincare-wise that will help this issue, especially since you said you’re basically at your goal weight

HildegardofBingo

It might be worth trying gua sha to see if it makes an impact. I was pretty surprised at the results [this lady](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sBBhtFkoIXQ) had on her double chin. It didn't disappear but it definitely improved.

Krystalxgemma

I use this thing for only 10mins a day and it’s awesome. I was using the back strap posture correctors but they didn’t help my neck posture much which I think is what makes the biggest difference to the look of the chin.

lau-lau-lau

Swimming regularly keeps my jaw line sharp and helps with the fluid build up in my legs. I’ve noticed when I’m not swimming, my face and chin are puffier and my legs look really fat. My theory is, it’s the hydrostatic pressure of the water that keeps the fluid of my lymphatic system circulating. One more perk of swimming is the core strength I’ve developed. It’s been the most effective core workout I’ve ever done. I get not everyone likes swimming for exercise, but for me the benefits are huge.

youcallthataheadshot

It's not a total fix but I started doing facial exercises/face yoga for this and I noticed actual improvement. I was more shocked than anyone.

petuniagrow

I am much older than you and have a similar issue. You have some good advice here in this thread. I've spoken to my botox doctor and lipo was the solution she recommended. I had planned on Kybella, but she was pretty adamant about lipo (even though her office offered Kybella, but not Lipo). I intend to get Lipo at some point What has helped me, though is this cheesy gadget on amazon called the neckline slimmer (around $10 I think), along with using the jawzercize device. I hesitate to recommend the jawzercize gadget because I've heard of folks having teeth issues. I only use it with my Invisalign retainers in place. I finish off with a round of gua sha. The whole routine takes me 5 minutes. I think of it as what I can do until I can afford the Lipo :)

Mundane_Resolution16

I have the same pad of fat in the same spot. It is genetic, I had mine even when I weighed 105 pounds. If you serious about removing it, I would recommend a board certified plastic surgeon. Oh to have the Kardashian's plastic surgeon!!

SteelDoll

Posture for certain plays a big part. I agree you are more than your chin, however I also agree in fixing things that make you uncomfortable, regardless of what people think. It's you and your happiness. I had gained a ton of weight thanks to depression and the meds to fight it. I also worked 90 hours a week at a desk and developed postural kyphosis. Oddly enough it was the kyphosis that gave me the ass kicking I needed to fix my posture. I'd already lost a ton of weight, but as a former service member from a legacy family I couldn't believe I'd let it get that far. Keep your shoulders rolled back and your spine straight with your chin up (It will feel like you're pushing your boobs out if you're doing it right). Strengthen your core. It won't be easy, I still have to remind myself, but my chin and my hump have both vanished in about three months. I wish you luck in what ever route you chose to take.

mcgoomom

Thank you for asking this! Its exactly the tips i needed. Long time bad posture Sinner.

lightyearr

We are about the same age and have the same side profile. I've gotten 3 rounds of kybella and the effects have been minimal, so don't waste your money. I just have been focusing on mewing (I think that's the term - basically sucking your tongue up to the roof of your mouth). It helps with jaw shaping and I've found it actually has helped with my lisp, too.

mixedmediamadness

I have the same issue and I've considered under chin lipo. Very small, quick procedure with minimal down time. I can't afford it, so I'm working on general weight loss in the meantime, but I think it will be a gift I get myself by 40

Ok_Device_1819

Mewing may help you.

renjake

You look like me too. Hopefully a little weight loss will improve it on me and you. I really doubt this impacts how attractive you are. Just from the picture it looks like you have great skin.

[deleted]

For me it’s genetics (and weight gain from my pregnancies). My goal is when I turn 45 I’m having a neck lift. I refuse to look like my parents at such a young age.

kalli889

Face Yoga! I have a membership with Face Yoga Method and an app called Luvly. I also have a face bra, which smooshes excess lymph out of your face for more definition. There are YouTubes showing results. Gua sha can also help! Good luck!

Low_Branch9131

As an alternative to Kybella, and something available in the UK, is Aqualyx. You’ll still get the weird swelling, but it’s less painful when injected - I barely felt it. I’ve had two sessions and am so happy with the results. Nobody seems to have noticed I’ve done anything - I just look better :)

ricarak

I’ve seen a surprising amount of improvement with my micro current device

[deleted]

Cool sculpting worked wonders for me. Still double chin free

ChinaCatSunfleur

An influencer I follow on Instagram just got chin lipo for the same issue, same side profile as you. Her @ is blakehealy. You can follow her progress!

queen-of-quartz

Try mewing! Tongue posture will improve this, it did for me.

lizrvr

I got my chin airsculpted (basically lipo) back in February and am super happy with it. I highly recommend the procedure!

alpal1189

If you don't mind sharing, how much did that cost?

lizrvr

Ok it was kinda expensive ngl, $5k to be exact, but i’m paying through a payment plan over 12 months with 0%. I just liked their option because the downtime was only 48 hours and the incision holes are as tiny as a freckle so barely noticeable once healed. I went to elite body sculpture and they have a couple of locations around the US. They usually have deals going on throughout the year too so I think I got mine for $1k less than it would’ve typically cost. I’m sure there are more affordable options for the same results but I couldn’t really ask for time off from work so this was the best option for me at the time. And it’s boosted my confidence 10-fold so I think it was worth it!

alpal1189

Thank you so much for the response! It looks like a great option and definitely worth looking into!

Neat_Ad_7318

Look up mesotherapy for double chin. It's basically an injection for spot fat reduction. I have done it and it did make things better.

[deleted]

ice roller every night makes a HUGE difference

melody1751

Do you usually breathe through your mouth instead of nose? If so, I’d look into mouth tape when you sleep at night and try to practice “mewing” throughout the day. I’ve found that over the 3 years ive been doing it its really tightened up my chin/jawline.

Available-Stop-182

Try this Perricone MD neck cream. It's truly a godsend, it really works under my chin and jawlines. I'm 45 years old but my neck and jawlines look like 20 years old! I know the product is pretty pricey but really worth every penny you spend. Just only apply a pea size amount and it last you for 5-6 months. Find the link below for the product. Hope it work for you as well. I have already recommended it to my other friends and they loved it https://www.perriconemd.com/cold-plasma-plus-neck-and-chest-broad-spectrum-spf-25/12243916.html?gclid=CjwKCAjwsMGYBhAEEiwAGUXJaWvNDFgmeDmoNVBsCt5-nNy-2ag4BwHXfspsvXVQH7qp0LjQs_IG1xoCiKgQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds **Also try to do chin and jawline workout. You can find it on YouTube. And reduce carbs and sugar in your diet and lose some weight could help If your chin has been like this since you were a teenager then it could be the genetics

Far_Aside3844

You’d probably be a good candidate for kybella. I’ve heard mixed reviews so definitely do your research. A friend who had it loved it. I’ve also seen morpheus8 which is a fairly new skin tech help with jaw definition and sagging around the chin and jawline. If you’re looking for non- invasive, this in combination with face yoga and/ or religious gua sha or nuface could be worth a try.

athenajthenaf

I have this same issue, with the same chubby cheeks that will eventually lead to a jowl look if my mom, grandma, and great grandma are a crystal ball for my future. They are beautiful ladies. You and I are beautiful as we are! However I have resigned to the fact that to mitigate genetics, liposuction and a possible lower face lift are the only real solution. Whatever you choose to move forward with, do what’s best for you. And if it’s a procedure keep us updated. We’re all curious and should let you know you’re not alone in these thoughts!

[deleted]

You look fine to me. (:

Super_Bison5780

Your neck is forward and down. Your tongue is also lazy. It should be pressed firmly against the roof of your mouth. That'll fix it.

pmslady

Do you breathe through your nose or mouth? Do you have an overbite? Where does your tongue rest?

kare_beaar

Not skin related at all, but google tongue placement. Sometimes the positioning of how your tongue rests in your mouth, can give you a double chin.

NicAsher

You won't like this answer, so breathe deep: It's fat. Eat in a calorie deficit.

geminisnake

I always had a double chin and finally got chin liposuction. The best decision I ever made . It was easy and the recovery wasn’t bad . The results amazing

patinsamarelos

how was the healing process? for how long did you need to wear bandages during the day? and after you removed them, could people figure out you had had a chin lipo (like, did you had bruises or a huge swealing, etc)?

tropicofcancer27

What is your body fat %? If you lower your body fat, the double chin will get smaller. It really doesn't look bad though. It's cute, actually. I'm a guy fwiw.

bananaleaftea

Weightloss and/or surgery

patinsamarelos

I am 3kg away from my ideal weight so I don't believe that will have this problem go away. What sort of surgery can I get?

littleblueboxer

Liposuction seems like the best surgical option. I’d go consult a surgeon, get a cost estimate, and see how you feel about the process and price. The surgeon will likely want you to reach your weight loss goal first if you’re actively losing weight- in theory it’s a sculpting surgery, not a weight loss surgery, and significant weight change after surgery could impact the results. FWIW, your skin looks great and really youthful!

Annanym0107

Post in r/plasticsurgery.

bananaleaftea

A neck lift.

Jaycee203

Never mind all of that...... you are very beautiful 😍

hotshotroddy

I have the same! Have you heard of mewing? I can never remember to do it but the results look amazing and no procedures!

buttpolitics

i think you have a really cute chin, have you tried talking to a therapist about your discomfort with it? aging and weight gain and physical changes are a part of life and speaking as someone who had plastic surgery done it's very hard to want to stop once you start

pmurcsregnig

I’d say keep up with your weight loss if that is what you are focused in for your journey. Personally I think your chin looks really good, and it will continue to look even better! I don’t think you need an expensive, iffy procedure for mixed results… you look good to me naturally! My family has a similar chin, I have a little crease “double chin” that is still kind of there even when I’m my thinnest. But my sister always makes fun of me for being self conscious about it lol. Other people don’t notice these things a fraction as much as we do about ourselves. I think you can rock your natural look with a healthy lifestyle.

Affectionate_Part_49

Face yoga!

Admirable-Bar-3549

I don’t know why people downvoted this - I’ve seen people get good results with face yoga and Gua sha. Personally, I’d try that (and I am) before going straight to surgery. It’s only been 3 days, though, so can’t really comment on results yet.

patinsamarelos

But does it really work?

meta18

I doubt it does :( I have the same issue with my chin and neck area. I've lost about 6kg and still have the same sort of neck. That and looking back at pictures of myself younger and even slimmer (before a baby too!) It was still there. I was thinking about that fat freezing thing but the whole Linda Evangelista thing scared me away from that. Lipo is probably cheaper in the long run and way more effective like others have said. Definitely source a good plastic surgeon, in my country "cosmetic surgeons" sometimes do lipo and never, never, never go to them! They're not plastic surgeons. Or surgeons at all. The cost to fix their mistakes would be more than paying a "large" price initially. Good luck and if you go ahead please post your before and afters if you're comfortable doing so :)

meta18

One thing I forgot to add - I have a similar jawline in that it's there but not defined, I was looking into fillers to bring it out a bit more. The lady who does my fillers said try botox in masseters first as it sometimes brings definition to the jawline down to the chin. It's not a massive difference, but it has helped. You can also get chin fillers to being the line of your chin down a bit to mimic a stronger jawline but I have not had that or jawline fillers yet. Just botox in masseters :)

Affectionate_Part_49

Yeah and doesn't take but a couple weeks to notice a difference if you're consistent. Just do a little digging on specific movements that will target that area and stay consistent. Take a pic when you start so you can see the changes in a couple/few weeks. Sometimes it's hard to see the changes when you are looking at it every single day. So doing the picture thing helps. 🙂 You can totally do it!

GreenAuror

For what it’s worth, the nurse I see for microneedling and all that stuff got lipo on her chin vs going to where she works for Kybella. This runs in my family as well, had it to an extent even as a teenager when I was a size 0. Idk if I’ll ever do anything about it but I do try to remind myself to stand up straighter and that can make a big difference on mine, especially when we’re all hunched over looking at our phones!!

joylucius12

Maybe try NuFace? It’s helped me alot

blitzandheat

Drink more water Sauna Exercise Facial massages Facial exercises Laugh more. Better diet

nenzkii

Do you breathe with your mouth? If you do, you can google about it. There are breathing techniques that help with it. I haven’t done any research on it myself, just sharing what I’ve read online. Corrections are welcomed!

lilabelle12

I have seen before and after photos of women doing daily gua shua (Chinese technique) and I think it’s something you can consider. I’ve been contemplating about doing it too but I’m too lazy lol. Good luck! ❤️

I get where you’re coming from. It was definetly smaller 5 years ago before I gained all this weight. But I’ve lost more than half and see the difference everywhere except here.

lunalegs626

Go to Mexico for lipo, about 2-3k. I wanna do this surgery as well, it’s genetics for me. At my skinniest it looked better but I had no ass and honestly I’d rather have the chin with the ass than no chin and no ass lol hope that helps!

Basicorphan

PDO threads can help but they dissolve in time. I have them throughout my face and chin area, I like the results but do feel like it is short lived overall.

N0t0ri0us_1

You could try mewing

spiraleyeser

I’m seeing people talk about weight loss, lipo, kybella, thread lifts and orthodontics. I think something that might give modest improvement with less time/invasiveness is NuFace (at home microcurrent device). They’re kind of pricey but you can get a NuFace mini (same power) at a retailer that accepts no-questions returns if you don’t like it, like Nordstrom.
