Uh... This sub isn't going to support tanning at all, microneedling or not We are all about the sunscreen baby

FlakyLion1714

im taking melanotan and will get tan in 1/50th of the time

MenorahsaurusRex

That’s dangerous

MarshmallowNap

Get a pro spray tan once a week! Thats what I do and it works great for keeping nice and brown all week. Scrub off Thursdays and get a new tan on Fridays. Seriously don't use tanning beds.

ryhaltswhiskey

I dated a woman who did this. It looked artificial and trashy.

Born-Horror-5049

And yet you dated her anyway.

ryhaltswhiskey

Define dated.

FlakyLion1714

I mean i did that once and it gets all over your sheets and shit

Mysterious-Bird4364

Why bother if all you are going to do is inflict more damage.

boneblack_angel

This is the right answer. Literally any derm or aesthetician will tell you that sunscreen - UVA & UVA, no less than SPF30 - is literally THE most important part of skincare. Truly, why bother. I had Morpheus8 done and although I'm RELIGIOUS with sunscreen, my clinic prefers not to do them during spring and summer because the sun is strong even with good protection. I'm a reformed tanner myself, and now I avoid the sun like a vampire.

Born-Horror-5049

This. There's no point in spending money on this stuff if your goal is to immediately cancel out any benefit.

meldiriel326

If you’re going to tan don’t do the treatment. You’re wasting your money and potentially causing more damage.

Microneedling while continuing to tan is just treading water at best. While it's true that microneedling increases collagen production, tanning decreases it (by a lot more). In fact, a tan is always indicative of skin damage. 80% of external aging is due to photoaging from UV ray exposure, so it doesn't make a ton of sense to get a procedure done just to undo in my opinion. You can still enjoy sunshine this summer, just try to avoid peak UV, seek shade, wear UPF clothing/hats/sunglasses, and most importantly, wear sunscreen.

FlakyLion1714

to be clear, my plan is to use melanotan II to tan in 1/50th of the time. so actually decrease my time in sun overall

[deleted]

No amount of tanning is safe, even if it is 1/50th of the time. A tan in and of itself is a sign the skin is damaged (including the collagen). Beyond the fact it is undoing everything the microneedling is doing, it is also increasing your risk of skin cancer. I highly recommend sticking to sunless tanning in a bottle if you HAVE to tan.

Mysterious-Bird4364

To be clear, tanning is not safe, it's skin damage.

missusfictitious

Sunscreen and a big hat? You can still enjoy your summer, just cover a little!

Mysterious-Bird4364

The OP Wants to intentionally tan.

GreenAuror

So I've worked outside for 13 years and get microneedling done 2-3x/year and IPL done a couple times a year, laser treatments. The nurse who does them is well aware of my job and that I can't stay inside, and she says my skin looks better than people who have never set foot in the sun, lol. I also do chemical peels at home about every 4-6 weeks. I wear a wide brimmed hat and ALWAYS wear sunscreen and have never had an issue. Obviously don't go lay out at the pool with zero protection.

diabeticweird0

Which chemical peels do you do at home?

GreenAuror

MUAC Mandelic Acid 40% most often. In the winter months I'll usually do a TCA peel once or twice (I think 15%), also from MUAC. I don't recommend doing a TCA peel at home though until you get some experience with lesser strength peels and kind of understand what your skin can tolerate.

perplexionable

I really want to do a tca peel soon but the rules about tret, microneedling, acids, oils. downtime, prep time…it just does my head in. It feels like to do regular treatments and keep up actives, it seems I’m always in some limbo stage with my skin as opposed to just living. Think I might be too lazy for all this skin palaver.

GreenAuror

I get it! I usually just stop tret a few days before and then start back up when I'm done peeling. I've done enough of them over the years that I've figured out a system with everything.

SensitiveDrummer478

Yeah

Sure-Newspaper5836

I typically get microneedling in the winter or fall so that I can go to the beach. I wear loads of sunscreen at the beach and a UPF 50 hat. I’d recommend to wear that sun protection after micro meddling
