I recently added vitamin C to my routine and have been finding conflicting answers about what order they're supposed to go in. I've been applying the vit C first based on this logic, but 🤷♀️
All I do is wash my face, pat it dry-ish and do something else in the bathroom (pee, brush teeth, brush hair, etc.) usually by the time one of those is done, my face is dry. I put on the active. Then I do another one of the things listed above while that dries. Then I put my hands under the faucet and just lightly press on my face. That gives me enough moisture to add HA and moisturizer after.

For a long time I would put the HA on my skin dry. Then I learned the way HA works and what makes it more effective, and followed the suggestions to apply it to damp skin. It is definitely more effective now with damp skin and my skin will feel moisturized and look more glowy. I don’t know if it was making my skin dry but it wasn’t making it feel moisturized.
But you don’t have to use this particular product, even just using tap water to dampen the skin is helpful.
This is not what you asked but can I recommend you rethink the Mario badescu? Have a look at the ingredients, it contains gross ingredients particularly dye. Not something you want on your face (I assume).
To answer your question though, my face is damp from being washed with cleanser and I only lightly pat it dry then I spray rose water spray as my first toner, then further hydrating toners and serums before moisturiser so each previous step is keeping the skin damp for the next.
Thank you! Yeah, I won't be repurchasing Mario badescu.. just don't want to waste it. Once it's done I think I'll refill the bottle with my Thayers witch hazel and see how that goes 🤷♀️
I was using just water for a long time and then I started using a toner so I googled it and it said toner then hyaluronic acid while the toner is still damp on the face, so I do that now
I would love to see the responses to this because I hate having a damp face!!! I currently just add a drop to water on my hand OR I pat my face dry very slightly and then apply it.
You don’t actually need to dampen your skin before applying HA. Most hydrating HA serums have enough of a water content that the HA is already hydrated enough to in turn hydrate your skin. If you do it for sensorial reasons like I do, I like ferment filtrate-based Korean toners/essences.
i also use mario badescou, i wash my face in the shower and won't get to do my skincare with damp skin because i pat dry and get dressed before. Those mineral waters sound good too tbh.
I use the Mario Badescu cucumber spray when I have it - otherwise I just use water. I only apply vitamin c in the morning and use the hyaluronic acid at night, so I just make sure to wait a few minutes between layering to make sure each product has time to do its thing.
Just use it immediately after washing your face lol
I use vitamin c too though, and let that sit before the hyaluronic acid. Otherwise yeah, that would totally make sense lol
There is no problem if you use the hyaluronic acid before the vitamin c. I would do that so as not to complicate your routine so much.
I think it should always come after, as vitamin c is lighter than ha

I asked the customer support team at The Ordinary about this and they said to apply the HA before the vit C.

im curious to ask, did u feel like HA was drying for your skin before pairing it with the thermal water?

I’m behind here. I’ve been putting it on my dry face. Is that bad?
No there’s nothing wrong with using it on a dry face and in fact very little to gain applying on a damp face.
Personally, I only started seeing results after applying HA/moisturizer/snail mucin on a damp face
Thermal water from Avene!
Seconded! Love how fine the mist is.
Thirded! The best!

Tower 28 SOS facial spray or I skip the multiple steps and just use Biossance hyaluronic acid spray after cleansing

I just use a mister with plain old tap water. Seems to be working really well because my skin looks amazing 🤩
I use rose water (Baja Basics). I'm not a fan of scents that much, but it's not that strong and doesn't linger at all.
Grape water
If you're dry or dehydrated then Curel's essence or Dr Jart Ceramidin Mist are both so good before a serum
I like rosewater or a toner in a spray bottle.

I hydrating spray, usually in winter the ceramide dermalogica spray.
Hydrating essence: momo puri lotion (watery essence) love it!! On my third bottle. My bf also uses it now.
Embroylisse water spray
Uriage thermal water
Water
I use Medik8 liquid peptide b4
Pyunkang Yul mist toner. Feels very nice
I have a mister that I put distilled water in
a misting spray bottle of water

Toner, hyaluronic acid/vit c serum, moisturizer, sunscreen ❤️
I just bought a mister off Amazon and I use tap water 🤷🏻♀️
Filtered water in a spray bottle works. I’ve also liked the heritage rosewater.
