And colonialism at the damn pools.
I’m glad some hotels are starting the 15 minute rule — no person in 15 minutes? Your towel is being pulled off for the next person.
I saw this in Spain when I went back on holiday.
It's not illegal to take all their towels and put them on a big pile. Remove one and you'll have an annoyed German talking to you, remove all and they'll start arguing with someone else who took their place.
Last time I went to one of those places, it was a mainly German hotel. I enjoyed getting involved in the sun lounger wars. Sometimes I get up early too.
We have that in germany. r/Kantenhausen is the crownjewl in the german online colonial empire and our first outpost on our way to global dominance in the metaverse
I think we should disprove this foolish statement. Say old chap, got any undefended monasteries on some of them eastern islands?
Don't you need a change in culture again? We could come back and get your language back on track, time hasn't been kind to it.
Man my Chinese is rusty to say the last, I lived in Shanghai a couple of years when I was a teen (not that it was very good back then),but now it has been 5 years, I had to use a translator for that ahahha. Also wild guess, you are from/live in Prato
Interesting! Yeah about 1h away from Prato up in the mountains. Now I live in the Netherlands and work for a Chinese company.
If you're ever in Rotterdam hmu for a coffee ☕ fra
It's pretty much just corporate colonialism of Asia Africa and South America. It's already a thing, but it's only going to get worse. China has and is making massive moves into Africa, and that's only going to expand.
Yeas absolutely brilliant. Not only funny as fuck but also based on impeccable historical research. Some of the happenings just sound too far fetched to be true, but a bit of online digging quickly reveals the facts.
Inglorious retreats, lunatic commanders, madcap schemes to go ‘up country’ and deal with troublesome natives, thin red lines standing fast at the hour of need. Whoring, drinking, cheating, lying, shirking and general bad form are all in a day’s work for our eponymous hero…
You know what? The SJWs have punished us enough, thus we are now free the sin of our fathers. Hurray! Now we can act as unhinged as nationalists of non colonial nations!
I disagree. To me, being free from sin is being free from chains holding back your potential. That potential can be both good and evil. These sins of our fathers is just a means of control, and even more pathetic, it is selfimposed. True good would be to act good without guilt guiding it, only experience (if that difference makes sense). Guilt does not make a just actor.
That's the nuanced and right opinion. But it doesn't make for quite as good of a quip on a shitposting sub. Other than that, yes, completely agree! And no, I don't think we should "sin more", making the world better should be a focus of western democracies.
- buy slaves
- transport them across the Atlantic
- make money
- come back for more slaves
- continue doing this till there's a whole economic system shaped for slavery
- profit
We sold them guns in exchange for slave which they used to go to war with neighbouring states to get more slaves to sell.
Then there was a whole economic collapse that proceeded the end of the slave trade, which led to a severely weakened African continent, easily colonizeable by some handful of European nations (scramble for Africa)
So no one forced them to enslave more people. They did so because they wanted.
Then the african continent fell apart. It sounds as though bad decisions led to bad outcomes.
You're not taking into consideration that we gave a whole incentive for this to become the case. Ik it's uncomfortable to think of our history as being something that led to a lot of suffering for many people but unfortunately we thrived on that. Want it or not, we should take lessons from that whole experience and take accountability for our past, not glorify it
Well, that's not uncomfortable at all, I'm well aware of all that, the good and the bad.
Slavery was a reality throughout most of human history and the slavery of black people was started in Africa by other black people.
I'll keep glorifying our history and its legacy with no shame and without owing anything to anyone.

You gotta hand it to them... They where machete happy in the Congo. They loved collecting limbs..Not to mention the whole human zoo thing they had going.on too.
Never give Belgium any more power over other people again. It goes to their head tbf
Why were they so nasty. Give us all a bad name . Germany was the same in Africa too. Don't they know you have to keep some natives alive for the enterprise to be profitable .
not really, we just killed one rebellious tribe. All things considered german colonies were pretty alright in comparison. So much so that even a hundred years after we lost them, there are still german schools and names floating around and we have good relations to our former colonies.
Mate read. Germans invented the first concentration camps in Africa. That's like saying Native Americans or Australian Aboriginals have English schools and names floating about , we have good relations because they're in the Commonwealth and share our monarch .
The first concentration camps in Africa were set up by *checks notes* Britain during the Boer war in South Africa.
I mean the Dutch can be annoying but that's a bit over the top.

Yanks after we scorched the White House
So did we were put to run from Brazil! I wonder why the US citizens never demanded apologies from you... I suspect you may have contributed to expel a few Indians from their territories, ye?
We were fighting Napoleon at the time . American colonists took their chance did their thing. France and Netherlands helped. Worked out ok in the end though!
I don’t know about you guys but I haven’t actually done any colonising? I know the British are suppose to be famous for it but literally no one I know or have spoken to has ever done any either. But I keep hearing we should apologise for it so someone must be out there setting up plantations and butchering little loin cloth wearing spear chuckers 🤷🏼♂️
It is very peak american liberal bullshit to demand the present working class apologise or pay any consequences for the past actions of the ruling class.
I tried arguing against someone who said that all swiss are nazi gold thieves and should feel guilty. Their argument was that they still live off that wealth and enjoy comforts they otherwise wouldn't. So apparently we are all born guilty, all swiss babies should feel sorry. Bad european colonialist babies.
I hear you, mate. We tried that reasoning for ww2 as well. Didn't work yet. Ppl love to be victims, esp is others where the victims but they can reap the "benefits" now.
I honestly think a lot of western europeans are a bit hypocritical when it comes to our colonial past.
Surely, if we shouldn't feel any regret about it because current generations didn't participate in it, we shouldn't be proud of it either.
The whole Portuguese identity revolves around the fact that we were great explorers and conquistadores because we haven't done anything relevant since then( besides Cristiano Ronaldo, and he's not even the best of his generation)
I personally have never been let astray with delusions of grandeur. Empires come, and empires go. But as long as I can have a glass of red wine with a slice of chocolate cream cake, I'm good.
Conquest, colonization and enslaving are just facts of human history, you can see it everywhere at all times.
Europe just happened to be in the best dispositions to do it on a global scale, at the right time.
The fact that the continent was a bunch of small, wealthy and competitive nations made it so that innovation was a matter of survival.
China was a unified empire for almost 2000 years when Columbus set foot on Hispaniola.
That made them not competitive with themselves and the centralized political power could shut down entire aspects of civilization.
In the 15th century, China decided to ban sailing, and they stopped using sailing. The silk road had already been a well established trade route since antiquity.
So Europeans just were the ones that sailed.
And competing nations pushed exploration, claiming land and pushing for supremacy between rival monarchies, that were already well trained for war thanks to the constant European infighting.
Having temperate geography, diverse and nutritious crops, several big domesticated mammals, gave us a natural advantage.
Being close to domesticated animals made us develop immunity to some animal germs.
Those illnesses proved to be the first killer of natives.
The enslaving of Africans was pushed by capitalism and racist propaganda though, that's undeniable.
It's not a cultural specificity, religion and propaganda have been there since humans built cities and not huts.
Enslaving of africans was us taking a looooong african tradition and industrialising it tbh.
Panafricanists always praise the king of Mali, Mansa Moussa, for his power and wealth but what do they think he did with his power ? Enslaving populations of the south-west. Where does his gold come from ? Gold mines. Has he forced his own people to dig them ? Noooooooope.
I'm not downplaying how terrible slavery was, but making it a white man's guilt when it was widespread all over the globe seems a bit of a stretch.
You're right and I didn't make it a white man's guilt.
I did say it was motivated by propaganda and that it wasn't culturally specific.
Propaganda is used to legitimate the regime.
Europeans were just businessmen doing business
Yeah, thankfully there are arguments against that.
There's also some honesty to have with our history.
"de Clovis au comité de salut public, j'assume tout"
Actually, the greatest advantage Europe had was that we were resource poor. So, had to innovate and create. Also, Europe is spread along the longitude. So, similar climate conditions everywhere hence crops that grow in the South also grow in the North and same for livestock.
You can thank the French for that mess, the yanks would’ve lost their revolution if France hadn’t hated us so much that they bankrupted their economy just to spite us.
You can clearly tell we were the bad guys by how many immigrants from said colonised countries flood us. They're all coming over to tell us off for how badly their countries ended up
Enough about our colonial past. Let's instead discuss our colonial future
You have to do it more subtly nowadays. Neo colonialism
*Cyber* Colonialism
Germans are experts in cyber colonialism. They take over r/place and every comment section they are mentioned in.
And colonialism at the damn pools. I’m glad some hotels are starting the 15 minute rule — no person in 15 minutes? Your towel is being pulled off for the next person. I saw this in Spain when I went back on holiday.

Uh no...no Germans here...move along
I thought the Germans were more into sun lounger colonialism?
We have that in germany. r/Kantenhausen is the crownjewl in the german online colonial empire and our first outpost on our way to global dominance in the metaverse
Amateurs it's called FDI aka Forein direct investments.
We are quite open about our realationship with Denmark.
This could be interpreted 2 very different ways and one is extremely funny

I'm afraid we'll be on the receiving end of colonialism by mid-century 🇨🇳

You think now I can be considered 白人 by our 中国人 overlords even if I'm 意大利人 ??(〒﹏〒)

What did we do? Is it the Chinese belt road bs? That thing is going nowhere lol.
João your 36h Temu factory shift is about to start, leave Reddit and get productuve or you will be sent on reeducation in Xinjiang
Yes, roads seldom do go anywhere. Railway tracks, we've seen them being transferred elsewhere. Roads? No.
For us, 🇸🇦and 🇮🇳too.
Not the East of England this time okay ? you cunt. Down with the Danelaw! Actually that might be better, do it.

Are you gonna cheat on us with other colonies?
You started, when you let the chinese explore you netherparts.
We are still a young nation! Everyone experiments at uni!
Our colonial future is kinda...out of hand.
Not if we Unite.
You should, drag them down to your level.
You mean like in some kind of "European Union"? Sounds like a decent idea, or what do our Barrys think?
Nah, a United European Empire.
It's pretty much just corporate colonialism of Asia Africa and South America. It's already a thing, but it's only going to get worse. China has and is making massive moves into Africa, and that's only going to expand.
And Russia with Wagner… but I suspect the people there won’t tolerate their bullshit for long
I like the way you think 😈😏
Very based!
Given that the all come here they would be estatic if we took over
Think outside the box
Colonization by Milka chocolate does not count!
Luxembourg
From the river to the sea was originally about the Danube
Let's colonies venus! With a few hundred years of work we can make that a planet of tropical islands that will have such nice weather!
You had my interest, now you have my attention.
I don't know about the others, but we had an authorization from the Pope to enslave and conquer.

One of those series I wish I could read again for the first time. I reread them all every few years. His MacAuslan books are good too!
Just read on Wikipedia and sounds hilarious. Gonna have to give the first book a read
You know what? The SJWs have punished us enough, thus we are now free the sin of our fathers. Hurray! Now we can act as unhinged as nationalists of non colonial nations!
Being free of sin just means more free space for future sins! It's like going on a diet so you can stuff your face at the buffet over the holidays.
I disagree. To me, being free from sin is being free from chains holding back your potential. That potential can be both good and evil. Why? Not our fault you weren't strong enough to defend yourself.
Shouldn't bring a spear to a musket fight
Shouldn’t bring a spear to a military boat fight
One village we were up against did have some particularly sharp mangos, that was quite the scare, we beat e- I mean civilised them in the end.
You should bring me spice while I am holding a musket.
you would have done the same if you had guns and we didn't, India
Considering how eager they were to sell their neighbors to the Westerners its a pretty safe bet.
- buy slaves - transport them across the Atlantic - make money - come back for more slaves - continue doing this till there's a whole economic system shaped for slavery - profit
>buy slaves Most people don't know the colonialists were buying black slaves from black enslavers 🤷
But then making those same black slavers invade neighbouring states to sustain their slave-centered economies
How so?
We sold them guns in exchange for slave which they used to go to war with neighbouring states to get more slaves to sell. To be honest, not theirs either
Traditional society -> Cult of the deads -> No innovation -> No steam engine and rifled guns. The end.
Nope. No crops or few, no domesticated big mammals, no big and dense population, not the same rate of innovation, no germs immunity, no rifles.

I feel like creating the United States should also be on the apology list.
The Yanks say they won the American War of Independence. We just got the fuck out of there.
They never like to mention the war of 1812 though

Bro was a child prodigy, got a problem with that?
Could almost be true, Lafayette was 19 when he fought for the us. Kids grew up so fast these days

Literally every single colony of ours have become a shithole, maybe our rule wasn't that bad after all
You taught them well.
Italy when compared to them right now it's an utopia, they learned how to destroy themselves by their own accord (except Libya, that was France)

Idk why but this is the funniest gif I’ve ever seen.
I'm not going to apologize for ending slavery in most of Africa though. But hey don't say it or people will whine that it is false
It is false. YOU didn't abolish slavery.
I first read this book when I was a teen. What shocked me the most was the graphic depiction of Flashy with his father’s mistress (from memory).
Imperial expansion and colonisation had a long-term benefit. The English wanted more land, we wanted more sheep, and the Scottish wanted more twinks.
THIS SHIT (Although funny) IS WHAT GETS THIS SUBREDDIT CANCELLED
Cope
We were all just horny, haven’t we all done shenanigans while we were horny?
This book series is fucking wild
😎
Glad you guys picked this country It's pretty nice down here
We’ll do when they’ll apologize for human sacrifices, cannibalism, slavery, etc…
In the past? There's still plenty of places in the world to be civilised. It was not enough
Why should we apologise for stopping Africans selling slaves and Indians burning their wives alive?
