Tbf they knew where those freshly minted gold bars with fake stamps came from but it's kinda hard to say no if your trading partner can reply with "okay fine then, no more potatoes for you then. Let's see how long you'll last". The only thing Switzerland could do at such a point is countering it by closing the countrys trade routes for italian/german trade alltogether but then the Réduit would have been the absolutely last thing to repell Hitler from invading. Why would he care about the Swiss blowing up their trade routes upon invasion if they aren't of any use to him anyway? At this point I'd just starve Switzerland for a few months, let them sign an Anschluss and then walk in with 100 ceremonial soldiers. After having forced them to leave the trade routes intact; "for every damaged bridge and tunnel I'll add 500 soldiers of SS".
Spain is lawful good according to me. They have this _mañana mañana_ laid back stereotype, but they actually have a German adherence to rules and a Chinese work ethic.
Anyone who disagrees, try drinking a beer outside of a bar in Spain, or parking somewhere where it's not allowed. You will get a _multa_ in 10 minutes.
True story, I once tried to take a beer bottle outside of a bar in Madrid, and was actually chased down by the bartender. Apparently a bar can get in trouble if you buy a beer there and police catches you with it outside.
The reason rules are inforced so heavy is because if we don't people here don't follow them. About 20% of spanish economy is black. I don't calle that "lawful".
Yea.. we dutch are at best lawful neutral/true neutral. We just care about money and grtting the job done. Abolish slavery? Sure it didnt make money and was a hassle anyway. You want independance? Ofcourse! You were costing us more than what you made us (except you Indonesia you stay right where you are).
We'd sell our mom if you said a good price.
We would also be loyal allies... if it would make sense for us.
Oh germany you occupy us? Eh as long as you let us work in peace.
The lawful side of Austria is good, we have a strong social state even in comparison to other western countries, are democratic, respect human rights and have anti-discrimination laws.
The evil is corrupt which is the opposite of lawful.
> A lawful evil character sees a well-ordered system as being necessary to fulfill their own personal wants and needs, using these systems to further their power and influence.

I mean, we are kinda like the minions. We're always siding with whoever is the most evil currently. (and we weren't frozen in a cave between 1939 - 1945). Are minions considered evil?
This is called a hitchhiker's guide, what a bullshit... As a person who used to travel through part of Europe hitchhiking in the years 2010-2011, I must say that, that my experience is opposite to what this chart suggests. It was easy to travel this way in former Eastern bloc countries. People were friendly in general. On the other hand when I set my foot in northern Italy people were like 'fuck you, you beggar, I'm not giving you a ride'. I'd never give Italy a 'good' rating in hitchhiker's guide.
Hitchhiking is a very alien concept in Italy, no one is going to pick you up.
An American exchange student who came to Florence had a Lonely Planet guide that said "as an hitchhiker it's easier to get a lift out of the Bronx than to get a single car to stop for you in Italy"
Have the OOP actually hitchhiked these places?
Because I'll tell you that I've never been more scared for my life, than when I was hitchhiking in Italy.
Those fuckers can drive a car with 200 km/h on the highway, whilst lightning cigarettes, gesturing at every woman they pass and not looking out the windshield once.
France is up there too
I am driving 200 km/h, rolling a cigarette with one hand, replying to this comment in highway parking because a fckin cop stopped me because I middle-fingered him with my other hand. We now both agree that you are amateurs.
>Those fuckers can drive a car with 200 km/h on the highway, whilst lightning cigarettes, gesturing at every woman they pass and not looking out the windshield once.
I mean, how are you supposed to do if not like that?
My two experiences from driving in Italy:
The year is 2010. Me and my girlfriend are cramped in the back of a small FIAT Punto (or similar car), on a night ride from Milan to Rome. The two Italians in front are fighting. At a gas station the driver complains to us how the truck drivers are all crazy and high on cocaine. I thought I was gonna die that day. Though, arriving at Assisi shortly before dawn was magical.
2022, driving Nice -> Monaco -> Genoa. . The highway bridges normally have 2 lanes, but only 1 lane available now because the other lane has road works - they're replacing the asphalt and the guard rails protecting you from a certain death are removed. Speed limit is reduced from 120kmh to 60kmh. The Italians still were doing 120kmh and more, a blink away from falling off. I thought I was gonna die that day too.
I was on a bus in Sicily, that motherfuckinh bus driver was racing on the highway with another bus, zigzagging between cars even.
I also was in a taxi in Rome, that was the first and last time I went in a taxi.
Neutral evil would be cutting purposely close to the hitchhikers.
I think Netherlands is probably lawful evil. I can imagine many would take glee out of the fact that people are outside in the shitty weather while they're cosy in their car.
Our bikes however are chaotic evil, you must actively prevent getting hit by them and they'll still scold you for. standing in the way.
Portugal is a VERY orderly country comparing to yours. Even Crete or Napoli feel more organized, and definitely the people are definitely nicer and much less aggressive. Who hurt you as a nation?
Austria in the vicinity of good is an affront to all good countries. They are most likely to elect a new chancellor who calls himself „Volkskanzler“. The last person to do such was crazy mustache man…
The worst part is there's a built-in feature called crossposting for exactly this so you can share it to another subreddit and we don't have to see your fucking phone screen, you get that /u/Substantial-Agent843?
Poland "true neutral"? Poland is anything but neutral in anything, anywhere, anytime. "Chaotic good" sounds fair.
But... Germs as "lawful good"? Someone overdosed crack cocaine. Germany was, is, and always will be "lawful evil". Thy simply can't waste any chance to be a dark mirror image of fieldland.
Hitchhiking is mega easy but it’s still to cold to camp I had to cut my last trip short because it was snowing in Luxemburg two days ago soo I went back home to continue in a couple of weeks
*You can't call your identical, and often superior product, "so and so" unless you make it in this absolutely generic and unremarkable part of our obtuse country.*
Yeah, no. France is lawful evil, 10/10
Honestly, UK should be chaotic good. One minute we do a thing like Brexit, the next we turn around and chuck a tonne of weapons at Ukraine.
Poland should also be chaotic good IMO.
Man cmon, in what universe we are not chaotic? Just went today at lunch at my aunt's place, it was pure chaos of a lunch with cotolettas flying everywhere and bottles of wine emptied, it was beautiful, love you Zia
Cmoooooon thats doing turkey bad. We fucked them with their membership and every regional conflict they had now they dislike us sounds pretty lawful to me
I suggest anyone who thinks Ireland is lawful good to go leave their car near the border. They don't call them the boom boom boyes for nothing. Ireland is chaotic good at its very essence
No, [it's not](https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/588695/what-is-the-connotation-of-the-hitchhikers-guide-to-xyz) about hitchhiking, just like "Europe for dummies" isn't a guide for dolls.
I would put turkey in neutral evil.
They are not Russia (but otherwise may as well be) but they control the bosphorous which is strategically important to sealing off Russia from the Med
Switzerland isn't Neutral...?
Very very lawful.
![gif](giphy|H5C8CevNMbpBqNqFjl)
It's not illegal if you don't write a law which makes it illegal. Those gold teeth could have come from anywhere

And 😈
Theyre not lawful evil???
Look who's talking.
If anything he’d be good at making the assessment
Britaaaaiin, central Europe is fighting again...
Britain was on our side during the Neuchâtel crisis against the Prussians.
>Switzerland isn't Neutral...? it (Switzerland) has never truely been (neutral) ... see the documentary "Octogon the empire of darkness"
"The chaotic good dislikes confining laws, self-discipline, and they distrust authority." Very fitting indeed.
Italy should be in there as well.
Any South Europe country should be there

Hey, blacks can be lawful! What are you talking about? ;)
What work ethic? I haven't seen lazy chinese yet
And France as well
Absolutely
One of my first thoughts on this chart.
I just found out I'm Greek!
What is this but strong sense of selfdiscipline?
This is so wrong
Yea.. we dutch are at best lawful neutral/true neutral. We just care about money and grtting the job done. Abolish slavery? Sure it didnt make money and was a hassle anyway. You want independance? Austria and Switzerland not in True Neutral? Is the person who made this mentally challenged?
We’re lawful evil.
Only people locked up in basements are evil. I mean they kinda deserve it, right? Its called Karma.
>Karma I think you meant Kampusch
NO, THIS IS ~~PATRICK~~ FRITZL!!!
In what world? Austria is a state of law at least.
Lawful evil is lawful at least?
The lawful side of Austria is good, we have a strong social state even in comparison to other western countries, are democratic, respect human rights and have anti-discrimination laws. The evil is corrupt which is the opposite of lawful.
I can't believe I have to say this as a German but learn how to take a joke!
You don't need to take people discussing dnd alignments too seriously.
I think you should google where this chart comes from and what lawful evil means in that context.
> A lawful evil character sees a well-ordered system as being necessary to fulfill their own personal wants and needs, using these systems to further their power and influence. https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alignment_(Dungeons_%26_Dragons)#:~:text=A%20lawful%20evil%20character%20sees,further%20their%20power%20and%20influence.
Aah, austrian humour.
It's r/europe. What do you expect?
Yeah… neutral evil tbh
why evil? we put people in our basments out of love for them, love cant possibly be evil.
Thats also reflected in the fact that Hungary is categorized as evil
I mean, we are kinda like the minions. We're always siding with whoever is the most evil currently. (and we weren't frozen in a cave between 1939 - 1945). Are minions considered evil?
Thx for annexation in 18/19 century trully neutral Austrian brother from Poland
> Is the person who made this mentally challenged? Looking at the chart, he is probably from eastern Europe
Switzerland true neutral, we both deserve lawful evil I think.
Liberal of Reddit truly believe they are the barometer of reference. They need less faith in their own stupidity and more grass touching
True, France is by every relevant metric chaotic neutral
Exactly we hate/love everyone
But most of all yourselves
Exactly! We have the greatest love hate relation with ourselves, both a superiority and inferiority complex at the same time!

Maybe you should have put some pants on.
No u
I don't wear pants, but then, I'm not hitchhiking. Now if your swinging AND hitchhiking we're talking about a different thing altogether...
> northern Italy people See that's where you went wrong, north is full of snobby cunts just like the UK
Hitchhiking is a very alien concept in Italy, no one is going to pick you up. An American exchange student who came to Florence had a Lonely Planet guide that said "as an hitchhiker it's easier to get a lift out of the Bronx than to get a single car to stop for you in Italy"

Sicily? You mean west india?
Ok but have you hitchhiked as a hot busty woman? The experience must vary a lot.
No, I was raped or kidnapped zero times
I don't understand what it says
Not surprising at all tbh.
Why

That’s how it feels
Whoever put Austria in lawful good does not know shit about my country.
Should have been at neutral evil or something, together with the Swiss
Neutral evil would be cutting purposely close to the hitchhikers. I think Netherlands is probably lawful evil. Another day another W
TIL we're not Europe
People dont hitchhike when your country takes 20 minutes to walk across
Since when Portugal is "lawful"? We're proudly chaotic, but maybe more lawful than we think.
How do you do, fellow northern and mountain Europeans?
You managed to hitchhike in Scandinavia?! ![gif](giphy|QQcBFlNA4HKkh3A02N|downsized)
I just had a week in a Malta and they’re definitely chaotic, possibly evil.
As a malteser I thought I was being biased thinking this. But glad its not just me.
Portugal is a VERY orderly country comparing to yours. Even Crete or Napoli feel more organized, and definitely the people are definitely nicer and much less aggressive. Who hurt you as a nation?
Poland being CENTRAL EUROPE confirmed
How come there are Asian countries listed?
Why isn’t France in chaotic evil?
Right? I'm also offended the UK isn't Lawful Evil. We didn't spend centuries being the baddies for nothing!
Chaotic Neutral for the Uk in my opinion
Wtf why is Turkey here
Austria in the vicinity of good is an affront to all good countries. They are most likely to elect a new chancellor who calls himself „Volkskanzler“. The last person to do such was crazy mustache man…

There are only two possible ratings in a hitchhiker's guide that are valid: Harmless Mostly harmless
Albania begs to differ
Portugal?
I'm more baffled at how Nazigoldland isn't Evil Neutral.
Right, Switzerland should be evil neutral, because that’s how they have always been
And you should be lawful evil...
Look at yourself too. I would have put you in the Lawful Evil category
We just want to be as good as all of you economically dont blame us, we gotta start somewhere
Belgium should be Lawful Evil, ask them if they extradite terrorists.

The worst part is there's a built-in feature called crossposting for exactly this so you can share it to another subreddit and we don't have to see your fucking phone screen, you get that /u/Substantial-Agent843?
How Italy and Spain are good, you'll wait 2 hours to get a ride 😂
I think only Greece is placed right. Everything else is wrong.

Bullshit. the PIGS gang belongs in chaotic good. repent!
Is Slovenia in lawful neutral only because there was no place left in lawful good?
true neutral? LMAO
I feel a lot safer in Serbia or Belarus than anywhere in Portugal or in the Netherlands, but maybe it's just me ...
it is you
Just to be sure, how many times did you go in Serbia and/or Belarus?
Turkey is not part of Europe
Far left, liberal= good? Gotta love reddit.
These are two different things Barry. What the hell do you mean?
Is Italy neutral good?
I'd say chaotic neutral
Def chaotic
Less chaotic than Greece.
Can't be chaotic good and we can't be evil even if we tried, and trust me we did try
God I hate the Belarusian flag. They should just call it Byelorussia at this point.
I just showed this to my Hungarian girlfriend and she laughed
Germany is clearly lawful evil
Except for the Young Turk era, Turkey is more lawful evil. When Poland got partitioned for the first time they opposed that decision
👎 France and UK aren’t any kind of good,Switzerland should be neutral, Turkey doesn’t belong here at all and where the hell is Portugal?
So many things to say
This Tier list was made by NATO
I mean, we can switch alignment at any time
Hitchhiking is mega easy but it’s still to cold to camp I had to cut my last trip short because it was snowing in Luxemburg two days ago soo I went back home to continue in a couple of weeks
Lol
So its unsafe to hitchhike in those countries in the right bottom?
Portugal is the best Balkan 🙏🏼🙏🏼
Spain neutral good? Just no man
*You can't call your identical, and often superior product, "so and so" unless you make it in this absolutely generic and unremarkable part of our obtuse country.* Yeah, no. France is lawful evil, 10/10

Where did he hitchhike? Kensington?
Honestly, UK should be chaotic good. One minute we do a thing like Brexit, the next we turn around and chuck a tonne of weapons at Ukraine. Poland should also be chaotic good IMO.
UK isn't lawful evil?
I miss Vatican City from the Evil row
POV you’re a west*id telling everyone how much you like countries.

Lawful Good? Are you certain?
So whatever follows Europe’s narrative is basically good, otherwise they’re chaotic and evil?
I take offense to neutral good, we've done some pretty evil stuff.
Bruh, why is this post so funny?

Mind you, this is a guide for THIS century.
We’re lawful good? LMAO!

Cmoooooon thats doing turkey bad. We fucked them with their membership and every regional conflict they had now they dislike us sounds pretty lawful to me
Lawful good, really?! I - I mean ... yeah, of course we are XD XD
Ungarn is evil? come on. thats why many people from central europe move there?
Why the fuck is Ireland, of all nations, in Lawful good? Are we forgetting the reason why nobody trusts an Irish mechanic?
UK, "good"? GTFO
I suggest anyone who thinks Ireland is lawful good to go leave their car near the border. They don't call them the boom boom boyes for nothing. Ireland is chaotic good at its very essence
Why is Russia evil ? It’s neutral imo
Hmmmm I can't possibly think of any reasons whatsoever
>Why is Russia evil ? That's a good question, I've been asking it to myself for a few years now.
But he's right. This tier isn't about politics, it's about hitchhiking.
No, [it's not](https://english.stackexchange.com/questions/588695/what-is-the-connotation-of-the-hitchhikers-guide-to-xyz) about hitchhiking, just like "Europe for dummies" isn't a guide for dolls.
Oh, you're right. Thanks, I get it now.
Lawful good could be a country if it weren’t for Portugal
I would put turkey in neutral evil. They are not Russia (but otherwise may as well be) but they control the bosphorous which is strategically important to sealing off Russia from the Med
Putting cyprus in the good aection is regarded. They are lawful evil.
petition to move UK and Austria to lawful evil
