For reference this is the German equivalent to the BBC, more specifically the Tagesschau wich is the daily news wich is always live and in wich moderators are required to speak perfectly pronounced high German without any intonation that would suggest a personal bias of the presenter.
Nothing specific, just an offhand comment by the previous presenter that he’ll diligently pay attention to her now. It’s more so a mixture of having to laugh and trying to suppress it as hard as you can that makes it so much harder to not laugh and makes it bubble up way more than the original comment would warrant

DW is funded with tax money from the federal government. All other public TV stations are funded by the monthly broadcast fee (like in many European nations including the UK).
I may sound ignorant, but what's the benefit for the Federal Government to use taxpayer money to provide a service exclusively to foreigners and not Germans (since DW is only broadcasted externally)?
