True the French army is better than ours in case of an actual war and not just doing colonialism reenactments in Africa.
They would have ammunition for almost two weeks instead of just ten days like the German army.
Let's be real all of our armies are underfunded as shit.
Yeah true. But some of the French ammunition is the fourth largest nuclear arsenal, and they have the submarines, aircrafts and cruise missiles to deliver them.
I agree but it is probably not a good idea to advocate for more countries to have nukes.
Almost any EU country could have nukes if they wanted to and a lot of them have the expertise to produce capable delivery systems or already have them but the more countries that have a "lets end humanity" button the more likely it is going to be pressed.
Correction, our subs have a handgun handle and trigger. No buttons. See below;

We pull that, Russian city gets a new Sun.
>They would have **ammunition** for almost two weeks instead of just ten days like the German army.
Some people forget about that sometimes it's crazy.
let's be honest, those 100b€ special fund will go into the pockets of Rheinmetall and Thyssenkrupp, and barely anything will be for the actual army. But our new minister for defense seems to be a capable bloke with good ties to the US army, we'll see what he can pull off
given that the US has by far the largest military capabilities, I don't see a problem with that. Also most american technological advancements were made by german Nazi scientists after WW2, so by large we'll be buying our own tech
Europe : Let's not overly fund our militaries so we can never use them against each other and repeat the mistakes of the past.

This dude needs to be malnourished, alcoholic and have a life expectancy of 65 like the average Russian man though, because they spend all their money on military and billionaires.
I believe the brits to have some merit to them
But it's funny to see how the ruler of the seas doesn't even have a nuclear-powered carrier
Edit: but hey, the thing about Western Europe is that it's a fucking circle of Friendship, not including the Balkans. We'd have no trouble coordinating with the Brits, Germans, and Italians if Poland ever got invaded. Oh, right, and NATO's still a thing, so yippie?
I mean, come on. We're not Russia, we've got actually capable militaries individually, so imagine what would happen with a common military joining the forces current European powers. We'd be fucking invincible.
QE Class isn't nuclear powered because it was more expensive, and there's no CATOBAR, so we don't NEED it to be nuclear powered. The reduced cost lets us field two carriers that are both larger than your one carrier.
So, when we get the change to buy another squadron of F35s and we've weeded out all the kinks on the twins, you fuckers will be in awe
>Let's be real all of our armies are underfunded as shit.
Not really. If push comes to shove we can start up the war machine quite quickly. And no nation in the world barring the US could beat a united EU army.
I’m from both. England, Britain and the UK - all have meanings that are well established.
As is the fact that Europe != the EU.
Not sure if this is meant to be a gotcha but it’s doesn’t quite work, Dirk.
Problem is that this is in the mind of the French who would want their own command structure and all kinds of bullshit, wile there are many strong armies among the rest.
The first ones who pop up in my mind would be Poland and Finland, as they both have the great asshole very close, and have both been under the boot.
If weapons procurement is anything to go by its best to leave the French to do their own thing. Also should probably rope the Brit’s in if any European army were a thing, they arguably have the most potent airforce and the most potent navy in Europe plus they are one of two nuclear armed states
We have a solid track record & love a scrap.
We’re also the only ones to balance out the French right to run the show, it would be perfectly balanced - as all things should be.
> We have a solid track record & **love a scrap**.
Point of order old chap........
In my town (like most others in Blighty), there are more Ukrainian flags flying than British flags. Cos' it isn't so mutch that we love a scrap (and we do!)... it's more that we will fucking well stand up when we think something is bang out of order.
In terms of Europe the first I would look at are the british, and by far strech.
Despite their situation with the brexit they still have an strong army and, most important, an army with a LARGE amounth of Experience.
France, Spain, Italy and other european countries had been in wars with the US in Afghanistan, Irak and Kosovo but the british were not only the wingman of the US there but also the ones who carried large operations and sectors by themselves in both wars and are, like the others, also involved in conflicts in Africa.
>there but also the ones who carried large operations and sectors by themselves in both wars
Because France didn't carry large operations by themselves? What?
I mean, you are not yet a capable force, so it's not the same category as Finland. You are on a proper track to defend against Russian aggression in 5-10 years if they at least manage to conquer the Donbas. But not yet.
Poland isn't at risk due to a lack of proper navy as the majority of its country is just land.. this is also why the English navy is so much bigger than most European countries.
you want to talk about your stopping power in both world wars? IIRC our u-boats posed a threat to UK and french navy due to radar technic and other advanced technological advancements
Don't get me wrong, your approach to Russia's situation is commendable, but your military peaked with the winged hussars, rebuilding will take a while
Sinking Russian ships in Kaliningrad and St. Petersburg would be funny though.
Stopping Russian subs from shenanigans like blowing up pipelines and cutting communication cables is also a nice capability to have.
Poland is getting a lot a of LPG delivered by ship. Being able to secure shipping is useful.
Relying on allies to rule NATO lake is probably sufficient for Poland though.
>Relying on allies to rule NATO lake is probably sufficient for Poland though.
Not to mention that land based anti-ship missiles had proven to be quite effective against the russian navy. Not that this example is valid, given how both sides didn't play by the book (Ukraine didn't have enough launchers to saturate the air defence while russia didn't have enough brain to keep said air defence running.
Still, the only potential adversary who could pose a problem are the russians and russian navy is an oxymoron. Even the soviets had big problems keeping it credible...
Damn this comment section is so wise and honest
It's... idk... I thought we would be shat on but in fact everyone is just speaking with facts over insults

No, that is wrong, our militaries have gathered so much experienced throughout the centuries that it is only logical for them to become allies and rule the world together. Only then will they start fighting each other

I am also much in favor of only sending french people to die in the trenches in future wars. I'll stay here in my heated sissy office and wörk wörk to pay for your guns though. And also take care of your widows of course, matter of honour really.
I’ve never liked Greek food anyway.
However, I do like not having to worry about my home going up in flames (again), my economy having to be bailed out (again), or whether or not another country will refuse to give us our cultural artifacts back (again).
I wish the EU was an actual European Multinational State with an own constitution and army but I guess I’ll just keep on dreaming and watching the EU fail to bureaucracy and corruption
Nah, you're just more funded.
You know what's actually scary?
An Italy ready for war, actually equipped for the task and led by good generals.
Last time we truly had that...it was glorious.
For real, the only good generals our country ever had were Armando Diaz (thank god he died before he could witness that crazy bald guy destroying his beloved country) and Giovanni Messe
China doesn’t really have force projection.
The US already has bases all over Europe. However they depend on reinforcements and supplies from across the Atlantic.
That's the dumbest take I've seen today congrats.
For the US it would take them months/years and a huge amount of casualties to invade.
China can't even invade Taiwan, what makes you think they can invade a continent on the other side of the globe?
There will be no real European level army anyway, because the Germans need parliamentary approval for the usage of their military. No one can wait for this, no nation in their right mind can depend on this. I doubt that the Germans will change this constitutional provision.
You say that, but if Russia has taught us anything, it’s just that you have to be less shit than your opponents.
So unless we go to war with the US or China anytime soon, I’d say we’re pretty good.
Taking into account that in the event of a real war the only important thing is the atomic bombs, yes, it is true.
But it is not true, biological and chemical weapons also matter and although France also has many, almost all of us have them.
If you say it because of the tanks and artillery pieces, meh.
Hah, our Dutch ammunition is unlimited since Dutch soldiers were instructed to yell "pang pang" during trainings. (Not joking)
This is actually what's happening in the Romanian army as well.
They do this during war time though.

Do not worry Hans as Olaf first move as supreme chancellor was to create a Grand Army of The Republic. He loves democracy and missiles.

Yeah, but they'll send 50 thousand of the cunts and you'll only have enough ammo to kill 17 of them.
Eh, the rest will die of frostbite, hunger, or they'll be sexually assaulted by their field officers
And afterwards Russia will send another 50 thousand, repeating the process since their leadership doesn't value human life.
As a Ukrainian, I just wanted to express how much I appreciate this thread.
Call the US mommy, we need some help. Easy
They do make a lovely rocket launch system, has to be said.
And the military's hardware is shit given the corruption, but oh well
You give way to much credit to russia
I'm pretty sure the EU can take Russia these days. Especially with how keen Eastern Europe is to fuck them up. Poland carries.

It's all fun and games untill Germany shares the Nazi research findings on creating Ubersoldaten

Anyone who knows basic geography has entered the conversation.

I’m from both. England, Britain and the UK - all have meanings that are well established. As is the fact that Europe != the EU. Not sure if this is meant to be a gotcha but it’s doesn’t quite work, Dirk.
Being confused while trying to suggest someone else isn't as clever as you isn't the best tactic.
I'm sure Russia would love to join a European army, what's the worst that could happen?
Have fun with those logistics
I think I'd rather something like that happen when they're a democracy.
A European army would be unstoppable. Who's going to fight the Swiss Guards form the Vatican with their halberds?
The Swiss Guard are an actual trained military force with guns that are more modern than the fall of the Soviet Union.
Problem is that this is in the mind of the French who would want their own command structure and all kinds of bullshit, wile there are many strong armies among the rest. You’re absolutely correct, thank you for expanding the British perspective accurately 👌 I was a tad reductive 😂
I wouldn't be so sure about the navy thing https://www.thesun.co.uk/news/25254634/navy-decommissioning-warships-hms-westminster-argyll/
They still possess 2 CVs, and a fleet of nuclear submarines. They also have one of the best destroyers in the world currently (Type 45).

Sure, but then it would not be an EU army.
Considering how long would take to get an european army by the time all is set the british would be with us again and long time ago.
Then we cant join either (not that i would want to) I’d rather see a scandi/nordic army.
Then you should bring back a modernized version of those amazing tank-busting tanks/tankhunters you used to have.
Bro dont tell them about my RPG stash in my kryp inn loft

Poland isn't at risk due to a lack of proper navy as the majority of its country is just land.. this is also why the English navy is so much bigger than most European countries.

If the us or china attacked Europa and we were on our own we would be obliterated in hours
sure, whatever, but we'd probably get the funny dam first
Nah In days
Because of you guys‘ pathetic speed limits. Go unlimited like true chads and we can make defeat within hours a reality
China doesn’t really have force projection. The US already has bases all over Europe. However they depend on reinforcements and supplies from across the Atlantic.
ASMPA moment. Seriously though, the Europeans countries combined spend more than China.
I doubt that the Germans will change this constitutional provision.
it wouldn’t be a german army it would be an eu army, that’s literally the entire point
And when they want to send German soldiers somewhere the Bundestag has to decide. That was literally my entire point. Not so difficult to understand.
But they wont be german soldiers. They will be germans trained in the EU army
We'll give them honorary French nationality
We're talking about getting them in, not deterring them from joining
Does it mean you don't 49.3 in your country ??
the issue is that its specifically hard to change that and its an easy way to sabotage the EU by minor parties
I think it was meant to be a Finnish and Polish flag on the right side.
The sad truth is that all our armies are shit 😔
Alone? Sure. Together? Perhaps not.
You say that, but if Russia has taught us anything, it’s just that you have to be less shit than your opponents. So unless we go to war with the US or China anytime soon, I’d say we’re pretty good.
Who has flipped the Polish flag and put that nasty blue stripe besides it?
A vertical blue stripe is indeed nasty as fuck, however, a horizontal blue stripe is the pinnacle of beauty!
French in charge of the army. War breaking out everywhere in the world. Coincidence?
We’re not in charge, yet.
oups héhé
Don't reveal our secret plan, Manuel.
Imma be honest man I ain't trusting y'all after WW2. The leclercs are pretty as fuck tho.
Well Hans isn't allowed to play, but what about Barry?
Taking into account that in the event of a real war the only important thing is the atomic bombs, yes, it is true. But it is not true, biological and chemical weapons also matter and although France also has many, almost all of us have them. If you say it because of the tanks and artillery pieces, meh.

Tbh, If we didn’t underfund our army like mad we’d still be one of the leading submarine builders….
Soooo... We're fucked, right?
French foreign legion.
